The game can be played for free on PC.

If those in charge like the techniques, why have they removed them?

The game can be played for free on PC.
Free doesn't mean easy. And I know that a lot of Melee haters way overstate how hard it is to get an emulator running on their PCs. I know that it's not that hard. Still people will generally always take that path of least resistance, and what's easier than clicking the download button on a console they already own? More importantly, it can't be played for free on PC in tournament. TOs have been complaining about the prohibitive cost of setting up a good Melee tourney for years, and removing all the hardware problems I mentioned would definitely be a push in the other direction for them. That's all optimism too. I can be pessimistic and say that if Nintendo ever remade SSBM, it wouldn't even be the community's choice to move onto the new one cuz the inevitably higher player base on Switch would do it for them.

Hey guys, do you know where Smash goes after Ultimate?
Any ideas where?
Because, a lot of people want the new game to be a reboot, plus Smash Reboot could be great idea.
I've been toying with the idea of a Smash mobile game, but I'm still not sure what kind of game it should be. Should it just be "Smash on mobile" essentially, or should we spice it up somehow (i.e. put in some platformer levels like Melee's Adventure Mode)?

Maybe mix the tactical RPG and mobile idea so FEH with smash characters!

Re stage builder haven't used it since brawl but I loved it... Not really sure how to improve tho except adding more tiles and things

here is a question how would you improve stage builder?
Get rid of the whole thing :4pacman: I think it would be cool with they let you use stuff from other stages like the house in Pokémon stadium 2 and have that on smashville stage with the persona stage background. Just let us combine anything that is already in the game

I think the problem with the idea of "using elements of other stages" would be with third party. I'm not sure if Square would be happy to see their Final fantasy summons on Mushroom kingdom for example.

Just keep those things to the respective stages. I meant that they could make it so we could recreate the stages from scratch.

Let's see, we have 115 stages.... We can substract 2 by the fact of having 3 Battlefield variatons.

We have 17 3rd party stages.

Which leaves us with 96 first/second party stages we still can work with, which is still a high number.

I think a better stage builder could be made by just expanding functionality of existing options and a couple of editing features.

1) Allow switches and rails to be detached from the objects they modify.
2) Allow multiple objects to follow the same rails and switches
3) Make an option for thin platforms to act identically to those in official stages (so projectiles don't collide with the side walls)
4) Give an option for motion and respawns to act on timers so they can have phases
5) Add copy/pasting for objects you already made
6) Somehow fuse aligned objects so the edges don't act in unexpected ways (as it stands you can up-B into a wall made of two pieces and it will act like a ledge, allowing you to up-B again. Floors made of multiple pieces will interrupt grounded projectiles and I think stop dashes)
7) Maybe give an option to allow platforms to move through each other (this is the one I think is least likely)

They could add some extra special pieces like cannons for fun, but I think some tweaks to the existing formula would make a bigger difference and allow people's creativity to shine. As it stands now, a lot of cool stage ideas just can't work, no matter how clever you get.

I am convinced Smash fans have no idea what a reboot truly is.

A few moveset revamps and roster cuts doesn't constitutes a reboot.
A Smash reboot would of course mean going back and imagining what would happen if Master Hand didn't pick the doll out of the toybox in 64's opening. :4pacman:

here is a question how would you improve stage builder?
Introduce a scenario-esque trigger that can be used for stage bosses and other hazards - or even importing them into the stage at certain "triggers". Or hell, even other score / victory conditions.

I'm saying that since several map editors going back to the late 90s (StarCraft / WarCraft III, Heroes of Might and Magic III, TimeSplitters 2 / Future Perfect) all had such triggers and ability to set up scenario routes. Which expanded greatly on the game's replayability since it allowed for a lot more creativity in their stage builders - effectively making custom games within their engine much easier to create and maintain. The first two even had thriving Custom Map scenes, with WarCraft III's being the very environment that spawned my MW - Dota. Newer games like Overwatch and Dota 2 have integrated this with arcades.*

*The key caveat is that Sturgeon's Law - "90 % of everything is crap" - fully applies to all these examples due to the lack of oversight. Just look at Shared Content in general. And in some cases publishers like Blizzard have included clauses asserting that custom maps are legally trademarked under their purview, which is what happened with WC3 Reforged (after Blizzard acted very lazily about Dota and pretty much lost the rights to Valve as a result, of course). Still would probably be worth it.

To be honest this is not just about Smash fans. Today the word reboot is pretty much use everywhere and nobody really understand anymore what a reboot is. For example, people I remember some people calling the ps4 God of war a reboot, while it's obviously a sequel but in a different mythology. Resident evil 7 is also often called a reboot just because it's fps but it's also obviously a sequel.

Likewise, the terms "remaster" and "remake" seem to be very, very interchangeable now when it comes to games. A game on the PS Store with the exact same graphics and gameplay as it did in 2003 could be a remaster, as could a game on the same store with redone graphics, new/altered levels, and modern physics/game mechanics.

I made this roster with that. I accept both positive and negative reviews and opinions of any kind.

There's a very strong waifu bias here.

I don't know why Lilith would get in before Morrigan or Ada Wong before... most Resident Evil characters. And Star Gladiator in general? There's no one from Street Fighter.

Also, all those Sega characters... but you somehow missed Sonic.

With all these comments have remember me when i ALMOST made a Nintendo & All-Star Heroines: Tag-Team or whatever the title was, but i quickly dropped that because the idea was dumber that i was expected.

Sega, Capcom and Namco having eight characters each and Square and Konami being reduced to one seems kinda ****ed up to me.

And single-company characters aside, you also omitted some pretty prominent series for Sony, Sega, Capcom and Namco.

It's a little all over the place.

So the tweet says only use different series, but the picture highlights which newcomers are from which game? :drshrug:
I assume it means "each character [...] must debut from a different [Smash] game."

To answer the original question: Kirby, Mewtwo, Snake, Bayonetta, K. Rool.

Only by people who don't know what they mean.

Remaster is the same game, just uprezzing the graphics. Remake is the same game, but built from scratch. Reboot is a new game in the series that ignores the continuity of all previous games.

It's not actually possible to "reboot" Smash. Because Smash has no continuity.

I made this roster with that. I accept both positive and negative reviews and opinions of any kind.
Hayabusa AND Bentley Bear? Approved.

Yes, I want Midnight Bliss in Smash.
Reuse assets for Super Crown.

Here’s an interesting idea:
There was a problem fetching the tweet
Captain Falcon, Dr. Mario, Ike, Little Mac, Terry

It's been almost four years since Metroid Prime 4 was announced and Metroid Dread was released instead. However if not for the Nintendo Switch it might be released for the next console.

I never understood while any flaw Melee might have is either charming or adds depth to the game while its fans nitpick the hell out of later games' shortcomings to prove its perceived superiority.

It feels like a big double standard born out of insecurity than anything.
I'm still convinced it's because they built a community and careers off of a buggy-ass game, and later Smash games have gotten way better in quality in both terms of less bugs and glitches but also in trying to cater to the competitive community, and I think they are kinda jealous and petty that Nintendo is diving into this now instead of when it would have made their lives easier.

Then again, they ONLY PLAY the unpatched versions with all the broken **** when another versions with major fixes exists, and they mod the game to make the glitches more like real features as well as approve modded controllers, so I'm not sure at this point.
