Poor Fire Emblem fans. However will they survive with ONLY 5 unique characters!? Thank God Xenoblade fans don't have to suffer the agony of being disgraced with a Shulk echo fighter
you know what sucks?

It doesn't seem like there'd be anyone who would even work as a Shulk echo fighter. It's baffling that Rex was considered too new to be included as DLC while Byleth made it in, and it would make sense for Xenoblade to get a second character given how much it's expanded since Smash 4, but you're comparing a series with 15+ games to a series with 3 games.

Honestly I don't think Rhythm heaven will happen at this point, so that one was more wishlist than prediction but I could see the other happen. If you have other cool new mechanic idea let me know.
I mean, people thought that about first parties in general and look what happened.

Yeah, this ain't it, chief.

We get it: You're upset Byleth got in. I'm sorry you're upset, but perhaps you should consider a new approach to the conversation, as the edgey sarcasm routine you've been doin' since yesterday is gettin' kind of old.

3 in Xenoblade alone, 1 in Xenoblade 2.
Who? Never played XB1 but I can't think of anyone in XB2 that would be cloned from Shulk unless they're an A-move clone only.

It sounds amazing on paper, but considering that four of them are built of the same moveset, and a fifth isn't very far away, and the sixth to be added comes from the worst game in the franchise, yeah, I'd sooner say victim.

Once again, it's a combination of too much and not different enough. If we trimmed the fat, we'd be left with Marth, Robin and Byleth for sure. Maybe Ike and Corrin. Unless it's not about who the characters are and what they bring to the table, just CSS slots and series symbols. Surface level boon, but beyond the surface? I wouldn't say so.
Yeah, I agree. When the inevitable "Thanos snap" happens to the roster after Ultimate runs its course, I only see Marth, Robin, and Byleth remaining. I couldn't see Ike making a comeback unless it was via DLC. Maaaaaaaaybe Corrin would survive the initial snap because Fates was still a good moneymaker, despite how divisive it was. I'd say 50/50. But more likely they would get shoved aside for whoever is the new protag for the new FE game that's out by then.

Only one Fire Emblem character has ever gotten cut, and he was brought back as paid DLC. Don't know why people keep imagining these apocalyptic scenarios for Fire Emblem.

The only ones I can think of for Xenoblade 1 would be massive spoilers
Alvis, Zanza
, and I'm not very far into Xenoblade 2, so I'd rather not know who that would be.

People actually actively wishing characters get cut is hilarious to me as this is the same fanbase that praised "Everone is Here!"

Like, there are characters I don't like either, but I don't want them to be cut. People like them, who am I to tell them their favorite "needs" to be gone? It's a super selfish take.

To appease I.D., we've added a few echo fighters for Shulk:

Dunban-Dunban plays exactly the same as Shulk, except he can only use the Buster Monado Art, and loses a stock every 30 seconds.
Alvis-Same as Shulk, but his Final Smash just changes what stage you're on.
Rex-Shulk, but now the Monado Arts don't make sense. Pyra not included.
Fiora-Wait what?

Ike probably stays. He's easily the most popular Fire Emblem main character, and for good reasons too. I'd love a Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn remake on Three Houses' engine.

Wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo execs (like Furukawa, you know, Nintendo's President and Ultimate's Excecutive Producer. He's a marketing guy. I'm underlining that for a reason) considered FE a really safe choice. And for good reason - FE's been getting more crossovers recently, Heroes is doing really well on mobile and FE's one of those rare franchises that gets new main characters with each new game (alongside Pokemon and Xenoblade). They know that Corrin was divisive: people still downloaded Corrin in enough numbers to convince the execs regardless of how 3H turned out. In other words, Nintendo execs are aiming to turn FE into a flagship and have another way to make $. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Furukawa and the other execs were a bit too unsure about Xenoblade at the moment,

I also get the (very personal) impression that Sakurai's always wanted to emphasize that the FE characters are strategic fighters (In this case, the whole emphasizing "Countered / Reflect" thing and designating Byleth as a "Distance Demon"). And Byleth presented a rare opportunity to do so. Sakurai's also a FE fan, that has helped the series a lot over the years.

I personally would've preferred Xenoblade, yes, but I'm not gonna fret over Byleth at all.

I doubt we ever gonna get Smash 6. I believe that from here on out, Smash will be a port on Ultimate. While hardcore fans might buy a third of what Ultimate is, I can¨t see how the casuals player (who are way bigger than what the hardcore is) find how they get their money worth when they have Smash Ultimate

-shrug- It makes sense to me. If half of the FE representation is varying flavors of Marth, then any of those flavors that aren't straight up Marth would probably get axed. Ike and Corrin would be next, IMO.

Dunno if this was directed towards me, but don't get me wrong; I love how wild and expansive the Ultimate roster is. But I'm a realist too and realize this type of roster will never happen again and the next Smash (we know there's gonna be a next Smash, come on lol) most definitely will not have as big of a roster. It's just something that interests me.

Wow, can you honestly be more rude then you are right now?

Like seriously it feels like every post of yours has a passive-aggressive nature behind it and it's extremely irritating.

Stop acting like you're above everyone else because of a videogame.

Probably
Malos just because he has a Monado

Considering most of his moves with that weapon were debuffs against your party, that could honestly be pretty cool to have a monado wheel with enemy debuffs instead of self-buffs. Could create a cool dynamic with Shulk if their physics and A moves were fairly similar, I suppose. But that's where the comparison ends, he'd be better off as a standalone character with that one common trait with Shulk instead of an echo.

Can't think of any XB2 character that could be a legitimate clone/echo to Shulk though a la the Marth and Lucina-type dynamic. They'd have to reach pretty hard to pull that one off.

Yeah, I can understand this point of view too. I just believe there will be another Smash because... well, moneymaking. But I would be cool with Ultimate just getting ported and such.

There would be much more money-making to port Ultimate and give it the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition route.

In a perfect world, the next game would keep everyone, but if we had to make cuts, I would get rid of Roy (and sadly Chrom by association) and Corrin, and replace them with Caeda. This would leave the series with five unique characters and an Echo Fighter.

Best Case Scenario: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is used as a base so all of the characters are already done, and would just need tweeks. Then they could focus on newcomers and extra modes.

The only ones I can think of for Xenoblade 1 would be massive spoilers
Alvis, Zanza
, and I'm not very far into Xenoblade 2, so I'd rather not know who that would be.
Alvis and his ability to wield the Monado aren't really spoilers since that's the question his mystery asks. The anwer, is a spoiler however, as is Zanza's existence. Kind of a shame too 'cuz I woulda loved it if they added his boss fight themes to the game.

Speaking of Xenoblade Chronicles, how awesome would it be if they hit up the devs of Xenoblade Chronicles: Remastered Edition for some sweet, sweet tunes?
EDIT: Just a random "Oh by the way, we decided to add the newly remastered Tragic Decision, God Slaying Sword, and Unfinished Battle. Have fun."

Nah it wasn't directed towards you. All you're doing is talking about what if there are cuts, not wishing for them. Y'all are cool.

If the next game ends up cutting 10-15 characters, I'm pretty sure a majority of them will be third-parties. I don't think the first-party cuts will be as drastic as people think.

That being said, if I had to guess what would happen to FE, I'd say either Roy and Chrom get the boot or Corrin does. Marth, Lucina, Ike, Robin, and Byleth are probably fine.

And since we're on the topic, I think Pichu, Greninja, and Incineroar are the only Pokemon in danger. I could see him cutting one or two of those guys.
