Bad day at work so far but knowing I'll finally know who fighter 5 is after a year keeps me going

Monokuma would be great. Imagine battling while hearing the scrum debate song. That would certainly be a dream come true.

I doubt they honestly care about who starts off the pass as long as the best is saved for E3. The only reason why I think Joker was revealed first is because they planned on revealing the first character at the VGAs. If it weren't for that, Joker, Terry, and probably Fighter #5 are interchangeable.
Nah, if the pass starter was someone like Terry, people would be disappointed as he's not "big". Hero would have been positively received in Japan but not in America as the starter; vice versa for Banjo.

The thing that made Joker a good starter was that he was still relevant and popular in both Japan and outside of Japan. He wasn't really appealing to a particular region, due to P5 being decently popular in general.

You know what? I hope it’s Freddy Fazbear just for the sake of it being super weird and completely out there as a choice.

Not being supported by E3 2020? That’s impossible. They already confirmed more DLC fighters in development and even if it’s only 2-3 more they only released Joker and Plant in between this time and E3, the post past characters are with out a doubt going to extend throughout this year
We may not be so lucky, keep in mind Sakurai said things would go a "little while longer". I do honestly think we will get another pass worth of characters, but we could realistically have nothing to see at E3 if there are only 2 characters left, with one being announced tomorrow and the other in a spring direct.

Guys, it's gonna be a Battlefield rep.

Sakurai said that if this thread got to page 1942, we will get a Battlefield 1942 rep. We leaked it ourselves. F**k.

Became a big fan of Danganronpa this summer when I played every game, read every novel and saw every anime, so of course I would love it, Monokuma (or the mastermind from DR1) would been great aditions, and the soundtrack of DR is pretty ****ing good.

Monokuma is an odd idea for me because I absolutely love the Danganronpa series, especially V3, and think a rep from the series would be super interesting, but I also feel that the strange and twisted nature of the games is what makes them so appealing so it'll be a little weird to see ironic executions used on, like, Pikachu. The DR1 mastermind would be hilarious and wild though, not gonna lie.

I did once dream that one of the revealed characters was a Battlefield rep called "Abraham From Battlefield". I think we know who fighter 5 is.

If we're talking Danganronpa, just give me Naegi. He'll carry all of the courtroom discussion gimmicks with him, and that can blend well with a moveset. It could also lend to alts like Hinata, Shuichi, and Kaede.

While Monokuma's potential is infinite and he's the mascot, he's also the antagonist and isn't representative of the gameplay itself.

If I want a rep with courtroom mechanics, I'll go with the series about the lawyer, personally. Monokuma doesn't strictly represent the mechanics of Danganronpa, but he does represent everything about its aesthetics and philosophy. He's the essence of Psychopop, and as far as I'm concerned anyone but him getting in from the series would be a waste.

Not that it matters until Danganronpa actually shows up on a Nintendo platform, of course.

Reminder: Regardless of who gets in, someone is sure to smile.
The same can be said of any reaction honestly.

Hoping for 2B or Crash Bandicoot.

Also who said FP5 is not a popular character?

Could Konokuma and, by extension, the aesthetic of Danganronpa be represented via a stage? That way, we could represent the chaos of the series through stage harzards, while also using a protagonist who represents the courtroom sections as a fighter

I mean, Monokuma has been on the 3DS.... in a very weird way, but...
A game called Smash Ultimate and not having a character from Danganronpa, which all of them are "Ultimates" would be a little sad.

I don't know the context of this but as someone who has hated fighting against Pikachus the last two games, I full heartedly agree.
Tbh I was just making a joke there, I barely even know a thing about Dangle Rope

Clearly, Pikachu aided Yoshi in comitting tax fraud.

Imagine the Danganronpa stage in V3‘s courtroom with the Scrum Debate music and moving chairs, every player starts in their own chair, sounds so fun!

Since we’re laying out predictions, I’ll go with a toss up between Dante and Arle. They seem to be the consensus.

Truthfully I’m hoping for Lloyd but admittedly I don’t think he’d be they guy to end the past on, as long as he doesn’t get costumed I’ll push em for a 2nd fighters pass

Ya know...I used to think that you couldn't do the character justice with a playable role since the point of the character is to be scary and having them run and jump around in bright and colorful environments would get rid of the fear factor, but after getting curious and seeing what the deal with the series is I'm surprised nobody yelled at my for that opinion. I mean, I think it still holds up for characters like Pyramid Head, but the Five Nights of Freddy's series is probably the most bonkers series of horror games that are still successful as horror games.

First of all, things like Chica's High School Years and FNAF World exist, and even the most serious games in the series have intentionally cheesy dialogue (which oftentimes adds to the horror element). Secondly, Freddy is a children's mascot character and as such has a lot of mannerisms and abilities that line up with that. Were he to appear in a crossover game he would likely be able to rely on these tropes, showing the dark side of things only if you look close enough.

Now, would it be a good idea to add Freddy at this time? Absolutely not. But I no longer think doing so would cause the character to be misrepresented.

EDIT: I'll also extend this reasoning to monsters from the Resident Evil series like Nemesis due to how actioney the series can be.

Not if I get in. Then nobody'll be laughing anymore
You might smile though.

Final prediction for me.

Crash, Doom Slayer or Phoenix Wright. Either of them because I want one of them the most.

Although I expect either Arle, Dante or KOS-MOS.

In the unlikely event Monokuma got in, you're not going to be seeing specialized executions for each character. I mean that would be amazing and something I hope the fans would do, but the amount of work they'd have to put in for that would be unbearable for the team.

I mean, Monokuma has different alts in Ultra Despair Girl or whatever this Shooter game for the Vita was called. It was a decent game and I can imagine that most of his moveset would derive from there.

But I doubt that's ever going to happen.

But Danganronpa is a great series and the music is great.
And Spike Chunsoft is doing games (Pokemon Mystery Dungeon) for the Switch, so maybe...?

I can argue that Monokuma would be more aesthetically pleasing and better to show off than Naegi. Naegi may show off the mechanics more but really, he'd be boring in all honesty while Monokuma would have a fun personality. And even non-fans of DR or people who never touched the games would see Monokuma and instantly recognize he is from this Visual Novel involving a psychotic murder mystery in a school/Island/Whatever.

Of course Danganronpa is in a weird state where the most well known character and the mascot is a villain and I am not sure whether Sakurai would pick him or just go vanilla with someone like Naegi because "protagonist power". And yes, the violence would be a bit of a cause of concern but people are cheering for Travis Touchdown(Including me) and Doom Guy so that shouldn't be too huge of an issue.

I'm not gonna lie guys, there's a lot of characters being thrown around in here I have never even heard of before.

But I will take any single one of them over another ****ing fire emblem character.

I mean, Spike Chunsoft recently announced to be preparing something for Danganronpa's 10th anniversary this year, so anything could happen, who knows.

There's no reason Monokuma couldn't incorporate Danganronpa mechanics like truth bullets into his moveset. It would fit the series I think all things considered.

Also another interesting thing I thought about with Monokuma and general Smash discourse in general. Would (BIG FIRST DANGANRONPA GAME SPOILERS)
Monokuma be considered a female rep?

Didn't Sakurai picked Piranha Plant because there was too many good guys on the roster and wanted some more villains? I remember seeing a tweet talking about that.
