This sets you up for lynching anyone you want after N1. I could say "Oh I'd lynch J" or something like that, but then if you are scum you could kill J and blame me on it. No I'm not going to answer this, especially this early in the game. I don't even have reads yet!

Answering this doesn't help you find scum. This information only helps scum, and it also generates WIFOM. Basically, you get a name, and then hey, that person is NK'd! What do you do then? Do you accuse the person who told you, or write them off entirely? What would you do with the info J has given you?

The reason I did not answer, is because the answer would be pointless. It would better suit you to look at my interactions with people, and everyone's interactions between each other.

Wifom is the circular reasoning that results from trying to determine the choices of an opponent who acted with full knowledge that their behavior would be subject to scrutiny. WIFOM means "Wine in front of me" from the movie "The Princess Bride"

Also, I recommend people not to get caught up with Night kills, because they don't provide information that we'd want to see. Only info that the mafia want us to see. It will only cause us to go... into circles.

Ok, seriously. All of these posts. What is going on.
I'm of the belief that it's possible to post too much in a mafia game (sometimes i'm guilty of that, but yeah) so i'm just hoping that it's not going to be quite this hectic when the game actually starts.

Also, I have no idea as to the ethics of talking about the game between you reading your role and it starting, so meh. I'm probably going to gloss over anything that happens before the game starts.

Also, fair warning, I may do some weird stuff this game. I haven't decided. I might make all my posts in the third person, who knows. Just remember that the trick to finding scum is to look past what exactly people do, to why they're doing it- so just because someone does something weird or something you disagree with doesn't make them scum. As an addendum to what Ran said- it is nearly always best for town not to lie about things. But this doesn't mean, for instance, that you should admit to being the cop if someone asks you. Use your best judgment. If you think someone is lying, try and figure out what they're doing before you kill them off.

And having said all that, mostly for my benefit, I'm going to try and be well behaved this game, and not cause too many problems for people. I'm also going to try and have fun. I'm still working this game out so I can't promise my play will be great, but I'm going to do my best to be a good townie and be nice.

I write too much. Whoever linked the Sigur Ros song thank you, I am enjoying it.

Well there is my town invite on him. Plus yes, it was mainly ice-breaker, there is no reason to posit on scum too heavily before the game has even really started. The only reason I said legit question was to see what people did with it.

I would suggest against gambits for the newbs. For now, just focus on normal play. If you want to add gambits to your play, at least wait until you understand the game a bit more before doing so. For example, claiming you are the Jailkeeper, but really a VT, wouldn't help town at all. It would only get you lynched. (If the real JK came out) Gambits like that, only cause stupidity. Again, get a little experience in playing mafia before doing so. So, don't lie, simple as that.
