And, again, my point was going across wrong. I am unwilling to vote because I have no real leads on who is mafia or not, and I don't want to place any blame until I have some reasoning from myself. It's not that voting now would kill an innocent, it's that I have no real leads on who or not could be mafia.
@Zen: Can you give me a read on SW from this post?

There are certain tells I am picking up about your alignment. I want Zen's opinion on them because he is the only other player experienced enough to diagnose what I am specifically getting at and his response will further my read on him and the player in question.

Asking others people questions about others alignment is a great way to get reads out on the table which is a reference point to look back at later on in the game.

Withholding a hard stance or reluctance to place can be considered anti-town (and thus scummy, by some people) because you're not giving town a clear roadmap to look at after your flip. Town want to be able to flip and have that roadmap in place so other townies can look back after they are dead and take their reads into consideration. Scum don't want that because it could help townies look back and deduce their scummates from such connections and thus often try to stay as stanceless as possible, if they can help it.

Where did you become familiar with dayvig gambits?
>Implying that a d0 joke post was a dayvig gambit

One of my friends from said old forum used to basically do that nonstop. Got some discussion started, at least until the mod showed up and reminded him that he wasn't a vigilante.

Cadet, how much mafia experience do you have?
In retrospect? Probably more than most of the people playing in this game. Whoops.

Speaking of which... X1-12 seems a little suspicious. It seems he's giving advice to be overly careful when casting any vote. Scum ploy to stop himself from getting lynched? Vote: X1-12

I found these two posts funny :3
@Zen: I'm trying to tell you something in code.
I got you. I think.
@Panta & Phoenix: What are your thoughts on SW?

@Zen: Read on Garg.

@SW: Be sure not to forget my 146.
Garg so far looks town to me because of how safe he feels with posting fluff.
@Zen: Can you give me a read on SW from this post?
That's a null post for me. Most of Sang's posts have been pretty suspicious to me, but this one below I got town vibes from:
@Garg. I guess I didn't get my point across correctly. I do want to kill the mafia. In fact, I want to eliminate them with a vengence. But, in order to do that, we have to refrain from killing town so we have more numbers and we don't dwindle down to only one or two town with one or two mafia.

@Cadet: X1-12?

@Garg: So, besides the ideas you've already expressed, what other reads to you get from the people in this game atm?

I just got back from Ohio! Time to get started.

Vote: Scamp. I'm gonna use meta to go ahead and win this game, guys.

Was this a serious accusation regardless of whether X1 was in the game or not?

@Zen: I agree on Garg.

@SW: Give me a read on Zen.

@Kuzi: There's not much I can get from Zen since he's only made a few posts so far, but right now he seems to be acting way too carefully.

Not being suspicious because you already know who is and isn't mafia? ;)

My read on SW? Eh... I don't like her posts because they seem to be forced and false. Zen seems to be pro town and is active.

3 players I feel are town:
Zen
Kuz
Panta

Suspicious:
Garg and SW

I can't tell if it is anxiousness at being a newby, PR, or scum. :|

@Zen. Maybe I'm looking too far into it, but it's just a feeling I have. It's like you're trying too hard to not reveal you're mafia by staying back a bit. Or, this could be the way you always play. *shrug* Either way, I don't have anything concrete to back it up with.

@Panta. For me, it's probably just anxiousness. Not for being a newbie, but for playing in different surroundings with people I'm not used to. Why do you think I'm suspicious? I mean, I thought town was supposed to try and snuff out the mafia? And to do this, aren't we supposed to actively ask questions? If not, I've been playing wrong for the past 4 months. So, either I'm trying to hard to impress people (which, subconsciously I think I am and I really need to stop that) or I just legitimately suck at this game and should stop right now :laugh:

Impartial text is in itallics, right? Okay, well een mine mother countree, We typically spend the first day of a game deciding who to bandwagon. Everyone has played enough to know there isn't much of anything you can do on the very first day, because there's very little evidence to go off of aside from exchanges of pleasantries.

However, that doesn't mean to avoid lynching anyone at all. Lynching someone is one of the most important things you can do on the first day. This is the day the Town has the chance to gather what honest information they can with a lynch. If the town doesn't make a kill, the wolves can use the conversation from day one to make an educated decision on who the best kill would be, and why. Forgoing a first day lynch can really derail the town, and put them at a big disadvantage.

btw this whole game's pretty frustrating and silly with only 3 people actually participating...
The way I understand it, we all live on different corners of the globe, and even those of us who live near each other can have wildly varying schedules. Rarely will every member of the game be posting at the same time, but a good game involves every member posting within twenty four hours.

Out of italics and on the topic of the game itself we're in, I would feel more comfortable waiting for everyone in the game to start talking and have made a post before I start voting for anyone. I'm here, though.

It's an established method on this website to lynch D1, so don't worry about that.

We will be lynching toDay.

Also the italics is my IC voice, a voice that has nothing to do with my alignment and is strictly for instructional purposes. Players themselves don't have to use italics because everything they say should be from one standpoint, that of towns. I know you may think you know a lot about mafia as a game from whatever past experience you have, but you will be forced to re-learn the game as how we play it on this site. I appreciate that you're trying to give help and advice but I don't think you know enough about how mafia is played on this site to be a very good teacher yet. :p

As I explained to SW, try not to be so sparing with your vote. We also don't always have to speak about who we bandwagon before we do it. Using your vote to express suspicion is a great way to spread the pressure and gauge other's reactions to who you do vote. D1 is also not always a crapshoot and scum can be caught by good D1 play.

From what you've read thus far, though, who would you say is the most suspicious and would deserve your vote if you wanted to place it? Please accompany that answer with some reasoning.

Lol riiiight. No, it's because only half of the people in this game are actually posting. And I do have suspicions. I just need to get more info in order to decide if I want to voice those concerns or not.

Wow, never mind. I just went back and re-read that post, Panta, and realized that that was not directed at me -_- smooth on my part.

@Panta: This is your first game of mafia right? Have you read any of the games on here?
I haven't really read any of your games on here, but yes, this is more or less my first Mafia game.

I feel like I am doing something wrong given your post. :urg:

I did. I was just wondering if there was anything other than a hunch. But, I don't want to vote yet because I want to kill a fellow member of my town without any idea of whether or not they are scum. True, it is day one, but the only way for me and my town mates to win is if we kill all of the scum. If we kill a town member, well... then we have less of a chance of winning.

With that being said, why shouldn't I think YOU are scum, hmm?
SW, this is a nice way to put all of the work onto Kuz without actually doing any scumhunting.

You are being very cautious about not stepping on anyone's toes, or accidentally killing a townie. Trust me, if the other players realize that this is a game, they will not get mad that you lynched them or implied they were scum. Townies *ARE* going to die, it is just a matter of whether or not scum die as well.

I am doing scumhunting. I was questioning him first. It's what I usually do. I'm not simply going to go around and ask other people what they thing about a certain player, I'm going to ask them questions personally and try to figure something out depending on their responses. And I am being catious, but meh. I don't have to accept that townies will die. And, as to not stepping on anyone's toes, I'm naturally a people-pleaser. If I don't like you I couldn't give a rat's *** about pissing you off, but otherwise I'll try my hardest not to piss you off. I realize this is a game and all, but one of my friends still holds a grudge against me for the first game we played and won't let it go, so I'm just trying to avoid that. Thanks for the reassurence though. I'll keep it in mind.
