So I was at the flea market this morning when I saw a N64, 2 controllers and SBB. I haggled the man and walked away with all of it for 20$.
The system works like a charm, the controllers work perfectly and one of the controllers came with a memory card. I found out that everything was already unlocked so I scored again.

I have been playing the game for about 3 hours and I have already picked my main, Captain Falcon.
I love his movement, his small pivot, his Uair> Dair combo's, Uair> Uair> Uair (and guess what?) juggle, his platform pressure, his F-Throw, his spike in general and his Falcon Dive.

I was wondering what tips any CF mains would have for me.
BTW.. does he have a CG at all. I was able to get F-Throw> f-tilt> regrab> F-Throw> Dash Attack.

If there are any other combo I would like them too.
I lol'd when I found out that Bair sets up for Dair and that d-tilt also is a Dair set up.

ps Is his Falcon Punch any good?

Uair combos into upb. Fthrow -> Fthrow works on another falcon at 0% but that's it as far as I know.

Watch a bunch of videos of falcon players and copy what they do

i read you say bair sets up for a dair, this isnt like melee where you dair and then techchase, in this game you can pretty much keep them juggled from 0 to death.

With falcon the possibilities are endless, single hit far, fthrow, single hit fair, fthrow, single hit fair, fthrow to falcon punch or usmash, usmash, sh uair, fthrow to falcon punch are zero 2 death on another falcon for example, though these are on a training dummy, on a human who can di these wouldnt work, but you get the point, just follow their di and keep comboing.

And another thing, not to spoil your console fun, but buy an adapter, throw everything into the closet except one of the controllers, download project64k and the ssb64 rom, and start playing online =D (unless you have a bunch of good friends to play with).

Bair does set up for dair at low percents against heaviers characters though(bottom of DL falcon on falcon fthrow usmash bair dair works) but that's pretty uncommon I'd say.

Also I'm not sure if either of those two combos work but even if they do they're decently hard to do timing wise. For a new player it's better to mostly learn the fthrow -> usmash ->
uair x 10 -> upb/dair type combos.

Brawl is part of the Smash series and I like it.
I main Sheik. lol She has true combo's and a lot of semi combo's.
She may not have as many as people do in SSB or SSBM, but she has more than any pther character in SSBB.

hmmmm.. I'm still not used to this games crazy juggling tactic's.
I can perform quite a few combo's and such. Well, at least I finally got used to character movement! @-@
It is waaaaay different than its Melee and Brawl counter parts.

Really and truly, my only beef with SSB is that it doesn't have Sheik. :(

That's not saying much considering brawl really doesn't have any combos. If you're talking about Shiek's Ftilt lock, then lol @ you for having fun doing ftilt x 100. If not, then still lol @ you for thinking anything else is a true combo.

Nair weak hit> f-tilt
f-tilt> fair
f-tilt> footstool

bair> bair
Nair> f-tilt (low percents)
f-tilt> USmash
Fair> Needle's> force get up> ???
Vanish> Vanish Catach> Needle's> force get up> ???

f-tilt> grab
f-tilt> jab
B-Throw> Bair
Bair> f-tilt
f-tilt> Uair
Fair> f-tilt
u-tilt> Fair
f-tilt> u-tilt
f-tilt> DSmash
f-tilt> f-tilt (f-tilt lock)
Needle pull> f-tilt
footstool> Bair
footstool> Needle's
footstool> Dair
FSmash> Needle's> force get up> ???

Fair sour spot> Bair
footstool> chain
platform fall> Needle's> force get up> ???
platform fall> f-tilt them back onto platform> punish w/e with USmash tipper
platform fall> chain
platform fall> reverse chain (I have gotten 70% this way)
DACS> chain> Fair stage spike
Needle Glide> footstool (not very legit... but DI over the pit sucks)

All that I listed I have used in a match before. About 3/4 is legit at certain percents while the rest is a semi combo.
I don't main Sheik cuz I think she can combo. (there is a reason why our attack usually do under 10%)

I am one of the people trying to get her a high tier spot.
I am also trying to super advance her meta game.
Doesn't Fthrow > Fair (maybe just 1st hit) > Regrab/Usmash work?
Semi CG at 0%
ty
Yes, it does, but you can hit with BOTH hits of the fair.
ty for adding more info

Hey just out of curiosity: Melee and Brawl both have force get ups, does SSB?

Also, is the tier list governed by recovery? Cuz that is what it looks like. <,<

LOL @ the stupidly huge amount of 2 hit combos you listed

lol @ counting every 2 hits a combo

I could probably make a bigger list of 2 hit combos for samus in ssb64.

the point isn't "BRAWL DOESNT HAVE COMBOS LOLO," it's just that it's sooooo much harder to follow up on and keep pressure on an opponent. in ssb64 and ssbm, when you get hit you are forced to stay on the ground with a roll or techroll, letting your opponent continue pressure and follow up. in brawl, when you get hit, you can double jump or air dodge before you hit the ground, making tech chasing pretty much null for 99% of the game.

I have to wholeheartedly agree with this.

Yes, but not in the same way - there is no get up animation that is forced. You can jab an enemy who is lying down/missed a tech and they'll stand up instantly/get into hitstun.

Why talk about brawl? he likes ssb64 and wants to start playing the game, focus on that instead =P

Getting your friends into smash64 is awesome, but if you really want to improve i still think you should play online, more variety and available pretty much all the time.

lol @ not realizing that the last hit starts a new combo. It just makes it easier on me to list it that way.
If a Sheik just does two hit combo's they are dumb.

It does to have combo's. Just because they aren't as epic as the other two games doesn't mean they aren't there.

I agree about the tech chasing. There are some attack that hit them to the ground like Sheiks Fair that allows you to follow up with Needle's to kinda tech chase, but nothing like what Sheik in Melee and what CF in SSB can do.

The fact that teching became a lot harder in Brawl kinda helps though.

Yeah, lets get off of the Brawl topic and continue on SSB.

How would I get involved online and can I use a N64 controller in any way?

Two different adapters, the first one is more reliable, but more expensive. The second one is the one i have, doesnt work with all controllers, no way to check which ones either (doesnt work with transparent controllers) but its cheaper.

In order to get online you would need to download the project64k emulator and the ssb64 rom, google is your friend in this case.

I'm not sure how different those two adapters are. I think they may be made by the same company just at different times.

In any case, don't assume that your controller won't work with the adapter in the second link. I know from personal experience (after dealing directly with a seller and testing three different adapters) that there are models available that work with all standard n64 controllers (I've tested mine with about eight controllers, one of which is transparent). The fact that a lot of the adapters don't work with some of the controllers seems to be just a very common defect. Regardless, getting an adapter and playing with a real n64 controller online is the way to go.

talking about brawl in a smash 64 room is a bad idea

the games are quite opposites in competitive play.

anyway, nice to see someone new.

Also you don't need to get an adapter...lolkeyboarduserslikme

Yes, it does, but you can hit with BOTH hits of the fair.
Lol thanks I couldn't remember.
That seems to be all I do as falcon these days, my friends are so predictable its just like DD > Grab > Fthrow > Fair > Usmash > Fair/Uair etc etc.
Some days I just spam Dair to see how much I can tech chase them.

D-Air to Falcon Punch is good at higher percents.
Up-B is a quick finisher if you failed your combo, and can be done out of shield.
Falcon Kick surprises people, and can work as a one-time edgeguard (people start predicting it).
My favourite generic combo is F-Air off the edge > jump U-Air > Up-B. It's a fun one to do at low-mid percents.
