Well I've gotta give props to ya, Shortie, this is the longest lasting game ever put on in this thread. It's rather amazing to see everyone keeping on topic and not freaking out either. It's even making more progress than the project in the discussion group.

So what's the current character pool? I may or may not have an argument to add.

So far, Toad, Junior, Ghirahim, Zoroark, Roy, Shulk, Tom Nook, Layton, and Slime have gone under the scope.

With PMario, and Animal Crosser possibly coming in.

Little Mac too. IMO there are already so many sword swinging knights that I wouldn't mind if there were no more.

And I would gladly cut any pokemon that isn't generation 1. I absolutely despise how Mewtwo got replaced with total strangers. Pokemon Trainer is awesome, except I'd prefer it to be Charmander-Ivysaur-Blastoise

I can even handle Tom Nook, but Slime is just ridiculous.

Star really proved he'd be actually good. Check out games like Rocket Slime or Mario Sports Mix.

I don't know, I just feel like SSB has enough wtf-like characters, though I personally hope ROB doesn't make it to Smash 4. Slime just seems like a bland and uninteresting character, not moveset wise but in overall design and depth as a full-fledged Newcomer.

If I'm not wrong Sakurai explained why Tom Nook is not going to appear in the roster.
Thought, he didn't say he will not appear in the game at all (maybe as seller of trophies and/or stikers), and he didn't say anything about Mr. Resetti, and, frankly, I see Mr. Resetti working pretty well as a fighter (he even tease us about that in Brawl), and his role as funny-but-useless AT taken by his less popular brother Don Resetti.

krystal is one of the characters on my "pass" list.
the current 3 starfox characters are fine as is, but if krystal were to be added, i guess that would be fine as long as shes not a clone...

as for toad, i still vote to cut him. he doesn't need to follow mario where ever he goes. :T

Tom Nook works as both a villain and an unique character.

Slime has arms when it wants to.

Toad has tons of variety and move choices. With or without NSMBWii influence.(only thing I want from there is the Propeller Cap at best) Although Iceballs(like Fireballs) would be neat.

Tom Nook works as both a villain and an unique character.

In the remote probability he will make it I think he will have a moveset inspired to Tanuki Mario. Included the ability to transform into a statue and smash the enemies just by falling onto them, just like Kirby.

That would be silly. He should be based upon his own game and at most have some attacks with his tail.

He should not be related to the Mario series when he has tons of moves choices alone due to all his items he sells.

The sky's the limit here. Really, the only clone-like move I could see is him using a Rocket to go up(something more like Super Mario Sunshine's Rocket Nozzle and not like Diddy Kong's) and float done with a Parasol. And maybe 1% of the time it'd be the broken Parasol. (kidding, really)

That's just two moves. He can use Rugs, Wallpapers, the Kitchen Sink(literally), etc.

Checked back what was written up about Starfy.

Can't still realize you guys still believe on that whole "Sakurai doesn't like Starfy"-BS... and that can be one of the defining reasons to cut him.

It would be interesting to gauge the popularity of the current and past items, but new items would be very hard to predict, for the most part.

Although if it also applied to which new Pokemon and ATs we predicted were going to show up, I'd be all for it.

You know they only thing that isn't set?

Like anyone doesn't instantly recognize who THAT is. And their eyes don't even have to have a set design, because they're likely only going to exist as part of the texture, meaning it would still be very easy to have different sets of eyes anyway. The alternate costume would of course be the female model.

I'd rather have both.

Mii as a customizable character and Tom Nook as both a villain and tool-based character. Mr. Game & Watch is the closest one to having over 5 weapons/items at once. Something Tom Nook can also do.

Plus, you cannot seriously tell me that due to how many different items there are, that any moveset potential is impossible.
