If I character can't appear because of liscensing issues, it's not showing up at all... I figured that was generally known.

Again, he didn't say anything about the character not being able to appear, he was talking about playable characters in general.
A similar situation happened with Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion. In the original 3DS release, Johnny Bravo was an Assist character because of a liscensing issue in regards of him being playable. While he was unavailable to be playable, he still got in the game somehow. In the updated re-release for Wii, 360, and PS3, Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL, the issues have been cleared and Johnny Bravo became playable.
Now remember that Starfy is a 2nd Party character partially owned by TOSE. He is still a Nintendo character, but negotiations with TOSE have to be done. And since there are signs that Starfy was initially planned as a character, it is very likely he was a case like Johnny Bravo; denied as a character, but allowed as an Assist.

Your findings mean nothing as it's nothing more but crackpot theory as you said.
Likewise, I have a crackpot theory about Dr. Mario being included in Brawl right after Mewtwo and Roy that, while just as asinine as your Geno theory, seems more reasonable and less straw-grasping.
I'm sure you don't care, so I won't bother sharing it.

EDIT:
Things to notice about Brawl's files:
1. Dr. Mario is there; Pichu and Young Link are not, though Y. Link was replaced by Toon Link.
2. If we add Mewtwo and Roy to the Roster, Pokemon has more selectable characters than Mario. This is generally beleived to be a big no-no.
3. There is a gap between the numbers of Roy's unused victory fanfare and Toon Link's. This would logically go to Dr. Mario, the last remaining veteran to be added before the last minute Newcomers Toon Link and Wolf.
4. With Dr. Mario, the Pokemon reps and Mario reps would be even (again, because of Mewtwo).
5. Dr. Mario logically would've been quicker to make than Roy or Mewtwo due to sharing animations and a model with an existing character, Mario.
Why I say this: There are three others with the same level of data as Dr. Mario within Brawl, Nana, Giga Bowser, and Wario-Man. All three share animations that they "borrow" from their counterparts, Popo, Bowser, and Wario, to where the data they have is only what is unique to them, such as models and programming. Dr. Mario would be no different, as he essentially is Mario and shares many of his animations with a model that is the exact same, but aesthetically different, like Wario-Man or Nana.
6. Dr. Mario not only has his "theme" from Melee, but a new theme as well. The only other cut Melee character to get this is Roy.

I also tried to main Yoshi in Melee, but I didn't do well. So in Melee, I main Mewtwo, Young Link, Doc, and, funny enough, Pichu. I ruled with that rat. Funny thing is, all 4 of my Melee mains were cut from Brawl.
I did my best with the 5 cut characters. Oh cruel fate.

I think it would be stupid to completely ignore the games you listed because of their popularity and critical praise. At the very least I think they'll atleast get seperate trophy sections. The reason I brought up freaky forms specifically is because nintendo apparently thought highly of it based off the fact they name dropped in a mk7 commercial. But I could be over analyzing I DUNNO.

I dont see Nintendo going this route. It's simpler from an execution stand point, but not a good move from a playability stand point.

You know, change Pikachu's hat, give Pikachu a shirt, some shorts, some face wear (face paint like a baseball or football player, glasses, a Nosepass nose, etc), different hand ware (gloves, arm bands, wristbands, etc) some different shoes, etc. Do that with every character, and maybe have all such items available to multiple characters. Obviously things like dresses would remain exclusive to female characters, though (and Link).

By the way, my Pikachu with a glow in the dark neon green hat, Ray Lewis-esk face paint, zig-zag shades, Funky Kong shorts, a NBA-esk armband, a Mr. Saturn shirt, and Snake's shoes would be pretty much the most amazingly cool thing ever!

Also, Dark Pit would be awesome, as would gold tunic Toon Link.

Just look up Soul Calibur's outfit creation process. There is no reason Smash can't do that. Smash has more funding, more fan support, and 1st party access to the Wii U and 3DS. Also, people have made look-a-like playable create-a-players of every character to ever be playable in Smash Bros. No joke. Look it up!

The tournament didn't have items on in the tournament, but in the friendly matches before and after, we played a few matches with a few items. This isn't in the tournament itself, but rather at the tournament. Also, this is the best video clip from a tournament ever (warning: it's loud, and has cursing).

Tournament rules forbid items because they are random, take away from skill, and are broken. Also, certain characters become gods. Some Japanese players got really good with items in Melee, and they found several super long Ice Climbers combos that lead straight into Wobbling, which means said combos are infinite to death combos.

1. Skyward Sword Zelda and Link should be alternate looks. Their primary looks should be based off Zelda Wii U. I am not that big on Skyward Sword's graphics.
2. Ganondorf's Ocarina of Time look can be an alternate look. His Twilight Princess is still the most recent and IMO best looking one.
3. Sheik should use her Ocarina of Time look, since that is the only game she appears in.
4. I think the Spirit Tracks Toon Link will be used in Smash 4, or whatever the Zelda 3DS child Link looks like.

Yes you would have the option of changing colors. Every piece of clothing, character skin colors (to a limit for most; Pokémon could be any color), accessories, etc. would all have all the colors on the color wheel.

So basically you would have:
1. Different skin colors for characters.
2. Different colored default outfits.
3. Different colored alternate outfits.
4. The ability to add a ton of different clothes in any color that you can save to your Wii U or 3DS console.

Exactly. Plus we could even make clothes and accessories... within a fine limit. Because some idiot will make a marijuana leaf or p*n*s shirt for a character thinking they are cute. Halo 2 was going to have customizable armor coloring, but this is why it wasn't allowed.

Also, downloading and drawing such things on the Wii U and 3DS really lets us create these outfits the way we want. Heck, we could even have characters in the same colors as your favorite sports team. I'ma gonna give Toon Link a dark red shirt, gold pants, a gold helmet, and white shoes and red and white socks to make him a true 49er!

It also would be another thing for us to have fun with for hours, and share with the world, which, as you mentioned, is awesome!

Something tells me Sega might be planning a Knuckles backstory game like they did with Shadow. At least after they are finished whoring out Tails, as that chapter has only begun...

Although, come to think of it, that makes sense. They *****d out Shadow because he was 2nd most popular. Tails was 3rd, so after they milked Shadow dry, they go to Tails. Knuckles being 4th...means after Tails has been milked dry, Knuckles is next...

I think the most "important games" are still the first 3 Sonic the Hedgehog games (Sonic 1-3) plus Sonic and Knuckles.

Also, Knuckles has seniority over all Sonic characters that aren't Tails or Dr. Eggman. And don't pull out random characters like the Chaotix, they don't count.
