So...I didn't have a person to play against, so I played against a level one...

Don't hate me because of that, at least watch the video, please. It's not long. ^_^

I've only been playing for 1 1/2 - 2 months, DaShizWiz is my idol, and I have had a lot of spare time...so I sit in my room practicing all the advanced stuff with Falco. He's the reason I even started playing Falco. ^_^

Please tell me if I'm doing for and what I need to work on...!

Also...sorry about the random lag in that one spot...

I play Fox too! If you want to see it, ask...

I told you I have a lot of spare time in my room. I got the advanced techniques from GameFAQS, and watched videos...then found out about this place the other day. ^_^

First stock was pretty solid, but hey it's a CPU you hit with the weak part of the backair there and it just died... bleh I hate practicing on CPUs. Good lasering stuff too, I like.

Couple of things; 1, you're using your D-air too early in the jump quite often, you may get grabbed if you don't make a habit of doing it real late in the jump. Two, you stopped paying attention to percent during the middle of the match; a bad habit to get into, causing you to miss things like your Dair combos which were causing Fox to be able to tech and escape.

Other than that you have alot of potential, I'd like to look at your pillaring and see your playstyle against a person. Great demo vid.

very impressive, especially for the amount of time you've been playing. i'd also like to see a video against a real person.

Same here, using these technical applications against a person who knows what they're doing is completely different than a level 1. Hell even a mediocre player video wouldn't be bad because at least they will shield and DI.

Haha, not bad not bad. But I don't believe the time spand you said. Usually people round time as low as they can to look better. Are you doing that?

I mean yeah its possible to play that good within a month and a half to two months, but not too many people are like that. Like it took me a week to master wavedashing, and then a week and a half to master L-canceling. About a week after that I was learning zillions of combos so it took me about a month-two months to get technical. From there on I've mixed my tech skill with mindgames. But have gotten much more technical then when I first started being technical.

So yeah, I do think you could get that good within a month and a half to two months because I did that too. But I was wondering if you lied or rounded the time you've been playing lower?

If not, good stuff :chuckle:.

Because its hard to get that good within a month or so.

Pretty solid, but, I have to agree, playing even a mediocre person will be a lot different.
Try to locate some players around you, and practice with them.
Also, something you can do with falco vs fox is up throw shine spike, just gotta be sure to follow their DI, can only be used at low percents.

Wow after that short of a time you did amazingly well. For the dair, short hop, then b4 hitting the ground by a little bit do the dair.

.-. I do it just as fast as you do. Though I haven't had any problems. I do double taps. Like as soon as I jump, I do the dair, at the peak of my jump, I tap down on the control stick again. Double tapping :p
Works nicely.. when your control stick has grip ;_; I usually cut up my thumb when I do this after a hour or so

what area do you live in? who knows, we might be able to point you in the right direction xD

that is some bloody good tech skill that you have for a month. it took me about a week to master WD, SH, waveshine, lasering etc. on comps but one thing that's important to know is that your timing for l cancel / fast falling will be alot different when playing real people. you'll have to adjust that for spot dodges, shields (to prevent ppl from shield grabbing you), different sized chars, platforms etc... you'll also have to get used to the way people play, meaning you'll basically have to just play enough good people to know how good people play and start to learn how to beat them. just l canceling and fast falling correctly took me about a year lol.

you're off to one of the best starts anyone can have if you really have been only playing for a month, keep it up. play with good people and hopefully you can become well known before brawl comes out xD

The best thing you can do is travel or whatever you have available to play against solid players. I doubt it's only been a month and a half, but still, there is a lot of potential there. Your tech skill seems better than mine, and I've been using advance techs for nine or ten months I think. It took me an hour to get SHL, a couple of days to get wavedashes, and I'm just now really mastering my l-cancels. But I tech like a beast, so I guess it balances out.

Try recording a match on a stage other than FD. (Not saying your tech skill isnt impressive) To quote Forward, "Anyone can look technical on FD"

it's not like he can't learn to be technical on other stages xD. at the rate he's going he'll be doing shine dashes (not sure if there's a name for it) all over platform stages and heck he'll start double shining and phantasm spiking ppl !

man i wanna see your progress, please post more vids.

Raging, its a shame i didn't get to play you at OC3 =(. i played with your friend gojira at night and it's clear that he has alot of falco practice xD. i still laugh on the inside when i remember gojira's fsmash on M2k at FC6. LOL TOO GOOD.

I actually played like that for the first couple of months also. Comboing the crap out of CPU's is hell of a lot of fun at first, but as you play more people you're going to notice that there's going to be more than just comboing. You'll need to have to deal with pressure and actually have to think when playing against higher smashers

When you're playing against newbies, you can probably still 3-4 stock them just by using the same strategy against CPU's(which is all tech skill and no mindgames). Unfortunately, sooner or later you're going to encounter higher smash players that will just completely **** you if you continue to use repititve strategies. I learned this the hard way and had to play against Falcomist, Hella, Zelgadis, Nemesis, and Zhu as my first pro opponents. As I was playing them, I thought to myself "Wait a minute, these guys are pros! My strategies won't work against them!"

So my suggestion to you is this, just because you can SHL, dair, and shine newbies over and over again, just remember that these won't always work when playing against higher level players. They know how to counter them, they know how to punish you, they know ALL of your weaknesses. You'll see what I mean once you start going to tournies, biweeklies, etc. Good luck in your future smash life.

P.S. Hi Zhu :D

for a month and half thats amazing! Nice stuff, you do start your dairs too early most of the time, and try and not get too flashy and a bit more practical. Flash is nice a lot of the time, but not nearly as effective (fun though, i know :-D)... Also initial D music is the win. Nice job, work on the pillaring / dair combos.

Gotta say, that wavedashing after landing the SHL's on either side of him was quite outstanding. Hats off.

I'll add more to my previous critique. It's great to be extremely technical, but the more important thing is knowing when to apply said techniques. I'd say for now drill everything. The basic shuffl movements will be your bread and butte,r so do those until you can do them into your sleep. Next is wave dashing, and more importantly I believe, waveshining. You should be able to waveshine forwards, backwards, changing facing, etc. Your LHDL are also a bit high, so practice those until you can get it so the second laser barely makes it out. This makes sure both lasers come out at a height that will generally hit most characters, instead of one always flying high. Once you feel completely comfortable with these, practice the combos. Your spacing seems kind of bad right now, and you will need to work hard to fix this, as it will be critical to starting up and finishing your combos. Other than that, you are off to a strong start. I found what worked best for me, was watching every bit of available material almost religiously. It really gets your brain working, and it gets you to try stuff out and develop a personal preference and style of play. Good luck, and be sure to keep us updated. (Also, you need to find another player ASAP, other wise your teching skills, and DI will never get trained along with the rest of your techniques, and these two are probably the most important at playing a successful Falco, which basically means not getting gimped all the time due to your awful recovery).
