I didn't miss your point, you missed mine again. If it's not his typical fighting style, then it doesn't make sense for him to use it. That's what my point was. Would it make sense for someone like, say, Shulk to toss away the Monado and punch his enemies just because you know he can? No, it doesn't. Nor would it make sense for any other sword fighter in Smash to do the same. They all can if they want to, but that doesn't mean they would. It would be out of character.
Just look at the taunt where he pulls out his sword and laughs, he's showing that his enemies arent worthy enough for him to even use his sword.

Which is out of character, seeing as how he has never fought anyone with his fists with intent to kill / KO them.

Like I said, I'm not even for this any more because of the salt, but justifying this as being within reason for a canon Ganondorf makes no sense. I won't deny he has a few moves that work for him, but a lot of them don't.

You can have only five full votes. If you want to give more votes than that, you have an unlimited number of half votes.

If there are any characters that you dislike, you can give them a -1 vote. You must provide a reason for these. These are not for characters you are neutral on, but should only be used on characters that pretty much would ruin your enjoyment of the game.

- 1 Tom Nook, while he is a "major" character in the AC series, he doesnt really utilize any of the tools that the Villager does and would feel out of place with his moves.

Count your blessings man. Though these types of things may not hype you up like others, they certainly hype many other people. They've already did enough by adding Mewtwo and Roy, as well as reviving Melee-Esq game mechanics. Anything from here on out is just gravy on top.

thats just assumption, even the Hyrule Warriors people did a better job with Ganon than Smash did, not saying smash one is bad, he is one of my favorite characters,(probably is gonn be the one i most use after 3.5 comes out and ill have that sweet Oot costume) but its more Ganonlike is what i mean.

It's as simple as this:

If they don't follow the rules, we'll politely remind them of said rules.
If they ask for said rules, we'll gladly tell them or point them towards the OP. At least they're making an effort.
If they continue to not follow the rules, we'll just have to skip over said votes that are ineligible for counting.

I'm happy we're seeing a bit more traffic, and surprised by how many people have followed the rules this far. Here's to hoping it only gets better (which if the past year of counting has taught us anything, it most likely won't lol).

I suppose if they wanted to copy and paste ridley over they could, but i think giving him a new style completely would be much more hype and much more appropriate considering what they've done as far as roy and mewtwo.

IDK man i get what you're saying but as someone who hasn't played the metroid series,most of ridley's styles are almost too dark. Ganondorf is dark too (no pun intended lol), but he's basically human. Ridley's....not.

@ Solbliminal Solbliminal isn't your girlfriend an illustrator? Could you possibly get her to draw up ridley? If not no worries but i think it would be helpful for this little back and forth we got going.

So on a more serious note, let's consider for a second characters that have limited to no vocal assets currently (Lyn, Sami, Isaac, ect). where would you like the PMDT to get them from? I've seen some suggestions pertaining to taking them from characters in other games that are at least thematically similar - I can see Sami with the voice of a "Valkyria Chronicles" PC release YES character for example, but how else can they fill these holes? Get some known Youtuber who's halfway competent at voice acting?

Isaac wouldn't need "speaking" lines, so all they'd need are generic grunts which are easy to find, but for Lyn, I suppose find someone who is good at voice acting who can mimic her Brawl voice. It shouldn't be that difficult, considering the amount of talent out there.

Sami, something similar.

alright, point taken on Isaac, I forgot he is a silent protagonist after all. as for Lyn, it's generally agreed (and been brought up in this thread a couple of times) that the voice given to her assist trophy appearance in brawl really does not fit the character, so if they were to hunt for someone hopefully it'd be someone who sounds younger.

Half vote for Silver the Hedgehog. Despite the lack of a fanbase he could be ab excellebt Mewtwo clone as well as implementing Sonic's model and a few of Sonc's moves.

Well, using the voice clips from other games might be a bit of a legal gray area. But if they were to go that route, it happens to be a hobby of mine to rip and organize the voice clips from games, so I have things that could be used (including all the voices from Valkyria Chronicles 1 and 2). I will say that at least with VC2, I don't recall the characters having a lot of "grunt"-type voice clips, a lot of times it's full sentences.

Actually I'm glad you brought this up. I was thinking about it the other day and I've come up with a few possibilities.

1.) Talent Search : When the characters are pretty much 90% finished, ask the community for any talented voice actors. They can have a "Impersonation contest", pick their top 10 and skype with each of them asking them to say different phrases or make various noises. Or like you said, go to youtube and get a mini celeb who does good voice work to do it on the side.

2.) Game Rip : Pretty much just rip sound clips from various games which may or may not include the character and splice them together. Probably the best option.

3.) Recycle : Just use clips from brawl and melee of characters that sound similar to the one you want, then modify what they say very carefully similar to how they do the announcer. This probably would take the most effort and would only be plausible if the character in question is fairly quiet. Otherwise we'll just have a frankenstein of phrases being shouted as we play. I can see it now....

"Hands off my FALCON!"
"Colonel, this is squirtle. Fight me."
"I fight for my BREAD."
"Tasty KONG"

Well IDK, I thought people wanted Ganon to have his moveset to be more relatable to his past games. So keep the melee Ganon and give out a new Ganon to those who....want more Ganons.

Wow, yeah. that does seem absurd.
