If it is Shulk, which it probably is, we'll probably be getting at least one veteran reveal in the trailer with him similar to how Charizard was revealed during the Greninja trailer.
I'm not a huge fan of Shulk, but I definitely wouldn't be opposed to seeing Mewtwo...

I swear, if he is in the character select screen tomorrow, people will still say he is not playable :X

Seriously though Sakurai has actually had characters as both a huge boss before, and the a smaller character.
Not to mention the Toon Link ordeal. But ya know. That's just actual factual evidence of precedent. What does it mean.

Here's how I think the trailer will go:

We open up with the standard Smash flame opening before going to Battlefield. This theme starts playing:


One by one, we see Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac-Man enter and square off. Then the logo pops up on the screen. We get a montage of different battle scenes, starting off with the four in Battlefield, then cutting to Link, Kirby, and Pikachu fighting on the Halberd when Meta Knight swoops in and joins the battle. There's a few seconds of Meta Knight facing other characters and showing his moves. Then we cut to Meta Knight being ganged up on by Pit and Zero Suit Samus at Palutena's Temple. Then Wario rides in on his bike, crashing into the others and sending them flying. We then get a montage of him beating up other characters before Wii Fit Trainer sends him flying, crashing into a robot.

The music comes to an abrupt end as Wario falls to the ground and gets back up. The robot starts to advance on him as Meta Knight and Ike appear to help. Then some Xenoblade music comes on as we see the robot getting attacked. Upon zooming in, we see that it's Shulk!

Shulk Smashes into Battle! (Or something.)

Then we get Shulk fighting against the different characters before the logo pops up. Then the bonus scene starts, showing a cardboard box in the middle of an arena. Shulk walks by and stops to look at it. After a while, he smiles and continues walking on his way. Then we fade to black...

Might wanna spoiler that, what with it being the final boss and all.

I could only see Metal Face
and the attack on Colony 9
as a boss, to be honest.

Now that I think about it, the opening cutscene/war at Sword Valley would make a pretty awesome stage, too.

Would be nice or even have him appear on a XBC stage.

Though Melee finals at EVO starting soon. THAT HYPE

I'd expect him or Riki, to be honest. Riki being the resident giant ball of HP/status effect guy. Just have him pop out, spin around and poison/burn/freeze everyone.

I hope we get a veteran reveal in the trailer as well. We may not, but it would just be some icing on the cake.

For everyone who does not know what Xenoblade is. Watch Chuggaaconroy's let's play. It is beautifully done and showcases the game very well. And I hope there is a codec between Shulk and Reyn because it is always Reyn Time.

ClashTournaments are very professional. Furthermore there are multiple reports of Sakurai and Fils-A-Mech Miis popping up. Of course Nintendo is sponsoring the event, but I doubt that's all that's going to happen, especially since there an announcement slot reserved right after Melee.

I've actually been watching his playthrough of Xenoblade Chronicles. I mean, I've never played the game before and I wanted to see what it was like as a Shulk supporter. I was kinda blown away by how huge the world is and Satoral Marsh at night is just...gorgeous. No wonder it's a fan favorite.

Also, I thought the new character announcement was at seven in the evening. Not in the morning. Did I get mixed up, or what?

Edit: Oh now I see. I did get it mixed up. My bad.

Yeah, I doubt Sakurai himself is there, he'd probably want to be in Japan, especially to ensure everything goes as it should with the video tomorrow.

There is no announcement for Melee.
