Before I post anything thought I'd say that I decided to 'seriously' picked up fox as my alt like..a month ago or maybe a little longer. This is my first time using him in actual competitive play, and i've played the jiggs MU maybe 2 or 3 times honestly. No johns, just throwing out there.

Trahh(Fox) vs. Bacon(Jigglypuff):

I'll probably end up maining him with falco if i can be consistent with fox. I'm really mostly focusing on learning all fox's different Usmash variations like JC upsmash, Usmash OOS etc. and another thing is learning to consistently SH. Probably one of the hardest things for me to be consistent with to be honest lol.

Anyways thanks for any help, anything help improve my fox would be nice.

A lot of people will tell you to shoot a lot of lasers, but make sure you know where you are when shooting (in relation to the jiggs). If you are too close, she'll get free hits out of it, which is bad; it seems obvious but a lot of people miss it.

The most effective form of spacing against jiggs, for me at least, is platform camping. Anytime you're in a bad situation just get to a platform and run around like a ***** for a bit. If you platform camp with nairs/bairs she won't be able to approach you (provided you space well).

I'll help more in a bit; sorry xD

Edit: Anyways, as I was saying, playing versus Jigglypuff is interesting. Approach too much and you'll get *****; this is obvious lol. But if you camp too much she'll force you into a bad position. Use your mobility to outspace her. Remember if you shield an attack you can usually WD out of shield or jump out to get away, but don't get predictable. If she gets too close after an aerial on your shield, usmash her. Master uthrow -> uair, its essential. Other than that you were doing well. You were spacing your nairs well against her which is always good. Full jump nairs are very good in this matchup, just again, don't get predictable and make sure you fast fall them; you don't want to be hovering in the air for too long. Also, don't go for grabs too often, but if you can get one, do it. Uthrow uair will be your main killer in this matchup. Remember that you can CC her fair/nair at low %s and grab/shine her out of them. Also just spam shine if you're in a bad position, one hit and you can get away just fine.

Hope it helps.

Definitely helps. Thanks a bunch. also Fluid thanks for the kitsune adv. I ended up reading about 3-4 matchups, they're long as **** but extremely useful. Got to apply some of it today.

thanks again

this isn't really general strategy, but that opponent relies on his shield a lot and throws out moves near the ground close to you a lot. You could literally grab him every time if you wanted to.

I only watched one match because i have to run to class, but here's my input:

I think you have basically the right ideas. Besides sharpening up your tech game (I saw you get shield grabbed once or twice) I think the big thing is just play the matchup a lot. You both went for things that weren't safe against jiggs and, as unknown said, didn't take opportunities that were safe just because you couldn't tell the difference. That will come with experience. You had the ideas of spacing aerials and uthrow-uairing down though, and your spacing wasn't bad at all, you just need to be more comfortable in the matchup.

Is it possible to DSHL with X? Is the key just doing it over and over again? Like will my finger slowly get faster? lol.

also thanks foxlisk, i think ive gotten a bit better since the vids against jiggs.

SHDL with X is too hard, imo. It's easiest by using the control stick (less control, more consistency as far as getting both lasers out) or slipping your finger off of Y down to B (more control, less consistency until you get used to it). Doing SHDL by using X is going to take a long longer to become proficient at unless you've got really fast fingers and even then you've got a larger chance of pressing A and NAiring on accident.

I just saw the first video. I'am by no means a fox pro player, but I felt that you should have camped harder against jigglypuff. It is her job to run after you. And I agree with unknown, you could get quite a set of options when you laser ( up smash, aerial , grabs ). I play a jigglypuff player quite a bit and that would be what I think should be done in the matchup. Keep using fox, he's a **** character. Gl bro.

It is possible to SHDL with X. I learned how to do it with Y (took me ~2 hours, not that hard imo) and then one day just randomly did it with X absent mindedly and realized I could do that too. Less consistently, of course. I don't see any reason to, though. generally if it's safe to SHDL you have time to reposition your finger on Y for a second anyway.

Only watched the first match. I'll co-sign what Unknown said, a lot of the grab opportunities were missed by either you jabbing or standing in-place and shielding/getting hit. A simple wavedash/dash back then back in for the grab probably would've worked.

Also, try working on your u-throw up-air timing, I noticed it was kind of slow for the most part.
