So I recently purchased a new web server for my various projects at www.nealpro.com. I moved tio and tia to this server, so all tournaments will in the future be posted there. The old site will stay for now, but all tournament results will redirect to nealpro.com.
What the new server allows me to do is unveil something I've been working on a very long time: the new tia tournament archive.
tia has been upgraded from a simple tournament archive to a full-fledged social networking site like Facebook and MySpace. Most of the features you love about those sites -- friend lists, private and public messages, common interest groups, etc. -- have been merged with tia's core feature set to create a unique web experience. New features like medals (given to the top 4 finishers of an event), an improved rivals list, accomplishment badges, the ability to tag yourself as having attended a tournament make updating and comparing your tournament successes a million times easier than before. Tournament directors can create pages for their events and upload results themselves without having to bug me .
You can see a few examples here (my profile), here (UCLA 2 results), and here (tournament hosts group).
In other words, it's pretty amazing.
You can join tia by reading the instructions on this page. About a dozen people are already using the site -- beta testers I've been using for a couple months -- but the rest of you need to join the fun! IF YOU'RE REGISTERING, you might need to try two or three times to get the security images right. There might be a bug on the first attempt.
Some notes:
* Some people already have pictures and friends without having signed up (HugS, Aesis, Ken). I was using your profiles for testing. You should feel honored.
* Some parts of the site might not be working... some things didn't get 100% transferred to the new server. Please leave a note here if you find anything is broken, especially if you get "Could not find stored procedure 'blah'" errors.
* Some features don't work 100% as advertised, but they will soon.
* I'm not putting this in Tourney Discussion because I'd like a smallish userbase for now. You can tell your friends all you want, but I'd like to keep discussion in this topic rather than scattered all around.
* If one of your tournaments is already in tia, I can transfer control of that tournament to you so you can update it, note who helped host it, verify people who say they attended, etc. Just PM me here or on tia and I'll take care of it.
Have fun .
BIG UPDATE 08/11: I've added small "game profile" packages to tia that can be installed to any user's profile. These packages contain customizable information about a pre-selected game (only 2 so far) and will show up on the bottom part of your profile. Games installed so far include:
Groovy.
EDIT: you can install & edit your games by going to the ME menu and selecting My Games.
