Name For an Animal Crossing Character?

Well, the new update depicts Tom Nook as part of the scenery in the new Smashville, Animal Crossing based, stage. If there is a character to represen this stage, chacnes are that it wouldn't be Tom Nook (considering that he is in the backgorund of the stage). So, my assumption is that the character which represents the AC series is going to have set stats, however, you could change the characters appearance and name by designating a Mii to it. It wouldn't be necessary to do, however it would be an option. The way the announcer says the characters name could simply be names such as Animal Crosser, Captain N, ROB, (even though I hope that ROB will be in Brawl), or Smash based on the name of the animal crossing stage.

P.S. The place where Brewster is selling coffee is out doors. Brewster only sold coffee indoors. I son't know wheather this is for scenery, or that it might be hinting a brand new Wii incarnation of Animal Crossing? :)

The only well known AC character that hasnt been shown in the bg of this new level is Mr. Ressetti. So if there is any sort of playable representation of AC in brawl, it's likely to be him.
Though a Mr. Ressetti assist trophy could also be possible.

I agree. I believe that Tom Nook, seeing as he is in the background, (and the fact that he wasn't a good character anyway) will not be making it to Brawl's rosters.

But it seems like The Smashville level acts like actual AC towns. Will there be a Chime when the top of the hour comes around and the chime is the Main Theme? Or if you reset during gameplay or do a No Contest, will Mr. Resetti do a devestating smash attack to all when you return?

Nice ideas, 64. Yeah, at first I was hoping for someone from the AC series to be in, but this stage is cool on it's own. I hope that If you hit into trees than a fruit or Bell bag falls down and you can pick them up for energy or just chuck them at your opponents, or perhaps a swarm of bees comes out and stings you, causing damage. Perhaps the train will pull in and let passengers out into the fray, perhaps a fight atop it. the possibilities are endless!

Well it doesnt look as if the stage moves at all, so unless they sprout from the ground, trees are looking like a no. Same for the train.

The stage is the fameous train platform wher KK sings and you start your adventure. I don't thing that the train, even if only stopping for a breif second, will be a problem

EDIT: On further inspection, It appears that this is some sort of platform, I don't know weather it's floating or not (From still pics you can hardly tell) but It's not the Train Station.

I think if there is an Animal Crossing character, it would be Tom Nook, actually. He may be in the background of the level, but isn't it possible that if you play as Tom Nook, then he doesn't appear in the background? In fact, the Animal Crossing symbol is actually the symbol for Tom Nook's store.

i just seriously couldn't even imagine a decent moveset with tom nook. i know you could "make one" but it would just be lame. i dunno

Am I the only person who thinks that having an AC pc isn't such a terrible idea? I really don't know who it could be, or what moves they could have, but I have faith in Sakurai and nintendo. I was weirded out by some of the choices for Melee's roster at first, but then I grew to love them all for each of their unique play styles.

My best guesses for AC playable characters would be Tom Nook, even though he appears in the background in one of the images, but i believe someone else pointed out that in the background of a kirby stage, you can see kirby flying off, yet he is still playable. Plus, if they can make the stage change according to the time of day, and what day it is, then I feel sure that the scenery can change based on what character is playing in it.

My other guess for an AC character would be one of the crossers. He could use his shovel and his bug net and stuff, and some of his costume changes could be the female crosser. As for Mr. Resetti, he just seems like he is best suited as an AT.

Tom Nook would be the best playable character to represent Animal Crossing. He's the most popular of the characters from AC. Plus, I'm sure Sakurai could think of a moveset for him.

All the big stars of Animal Corssing are part of the scenery. Nook, Slider, various other NPCs, and even the Humans!

I think Smashville is all the Animal Crossing goodness we're going to get in Brawl. Which is fine by me, and will more than likely be fine with everybody else getting the game.

Tom Nook would be a dumb character, straight up.

Either way, this stage looks amazing. Hopefully Brawl will read the data from your Animal Crossing Wii game, and your favorite townies will end up in the background!

Well, look at the VERY first picture, that is NOT Tom Nook! It looks like a femine Tom Nook, because Nook wears an apron, vendor, or suit depending on his store size.

I think K.K. Slider will be the character for multiple reasons:

1. He was a trophy in SSBM
2. You have to play at a specific time just to see him at all.
3. He was a main representative of the series during pre-release

I just had this crazy thought that maybe Nook is taking a day off to watch the fight, and that's why he's not wearing his usual attire.

If you guys can't imagine an AC character having a moveset, then you probably would think that Mr G&W wouldn't have a moveset or even the Ice Climbers.

Visiting from above.
There is no rule that states that because Animal Crossing has a stage, it will have a playable fighter too. Sakurai is trying to squeeze as much Nintendo nostalgia out of this game as he possibly can, and if Animal Crossing is best shown by a stage instead of a character, then he'll do it.

I never got to play Animal Crossing, but I always did love The doggy, who plays the music. But sadly, he's in the background... but he does rock it out in it. Now I forgive him.

reason im explaning this, cause i believe Hal Labratory inc. gave us clues on their future project known as Brawl,
or could it be that im going crazy?

lol Mr ressetti trophy, I can just see it now...

"Hey kid, you think this is some kind of a game?"
"Alright, I'll just stop all this and end it all right now."
screen goes black
Turns out it was a fake out
"That's right, I bet you felt pretty empty there "
"don't do it again!"
"now, SCRAM!"

It's Nook wearing his Nookingtons garb [it's the final upgrade to Nook's Cranny]. It's not Timmy or Tommy; their eyes look different. See, it's Nook:

I know the picture's small, but I think I can say that that's Nook, without a doubt. I was kind of hoping he'd be playable, but it doesn't look like it now. As far as other AC content is concerned, I think Mr Resetti would do well as an Assist Trophy.

I don't see why'd they'd make a symbol that could go behind a characters damage meter for just a stage when the smash symbol would have worked just as well for it...

Also, whoever said that Nook may not appear if he's selected as a fighter... That's a good point.

And Finally, can't we all just get along? D:

... oh wait, we can't =p

No it has its own unique symbol. It looks kinda like a crosshair or something. Go check it out on the stage select screen.

Hmm, I thought the Battlefield had the Smash Bros symbol. Did it not?
On the Dojo website, it has the normal Smash symbol icon next to it, where the leaf is on the Animal Crossing stage update. In Melee though the stage symbol [right underneath where it says Battlefield special stage] is like a broken mirror, or something like that. I looked around for a picture but couldn't find it, so you'll have to go to your game and check to see what I mean.

But basically: on the Brawl site Battlefield uses the standard smash icon, in Melee it has its own icon [possibly because of the wireframes].

edit -- beaten :\

I don't think the symbol has anything to do with wire frames. The wire frames show up with the smash logo under their percent.

I just don't think that Animal Crossing having its own symbol means that a playable Animal Crossing character is likely. I was using Battlefield as an example of a stage that had its own symbol that wasn't linked to any characters.

It just doesn't make sense to have an Animal Crossing character. Animal Crossing is such a happy, peaceful, nonviolent game. Every other character that has been in a Smash Bros. game comes from a series where violence is a key element. How could an Animal Crossing character compete in Smash Bros. when all they know how to do is give gifts and decorate houses?

Because not unlike the stepford wives, the animal crossing hometown is a land fueled by lies.

Besides, we all know who should be in it from the series, the Kapp'n. His tales of love and loss have inspired many.

As an aside, my 7 year old brother used animal crossing to teach himself how to read when he was 3. That's pretty badass.

Yeah, I'm hoping for Resetti to appear in the game, no matter how!

And if he doesn't, oh well, it's cool.

But my best hope is that he's a playable character!
