I'll give you Hootie because Cracked Rear View was one of the best selling albums of all time so they were known back in the day. Nobody remembers Barenaked Ladies or Third Eye Blind.

I also hated hiphop until I found Hoodie Allen, e-dubble, and Fortune Family.

Oh and I had this Panic at the Disco playlist for when I played yooyuball. It was awesome.

Hoodie spread to Neopets? That's pretty crazy. I only mentioned the above songs because every band has "that one song" that people know. One Week is still played on the radio today and it was on the first Kidz Bop or something. People only know Jumper because it was from that goofball movie Yes, Man.
