but tell me this

are the intolerant haters people who browse pony specific boards? Do you find them legitimately hating on it in pony threads dedicated to that exact prupose? Or do these people only show up where ponies are posted where they have absolutely nothing to do with the board/topic? Apply to any other board, I just know 4chan is a good example.

Now I just SUSPECT this is the case, however from what I've seen with MLP on just about... every site i care about, it wouldnt surprise me.

So now, is it fair than one can call out another for being intolerant and that they should ignore it if they dont like it, while that same person is not tolerant of how OTHER people want their boards/threads to remain pony-free? It works both ways you know.

I know a good example; UCLA 'racist' girl.

Situation 1) She walks into the library and its full of asians. She walks out and abuses them on youtube.
Situation 2) She walks into the library and its full of asians. They refuse to abide by library quiet rules. She walks out and abuses them on youtube.

Now are you going to tell me they are both intolerant, and that she should live-and-let-live and ignore it? I find it quite possible that the ACTUAL intolerant people are the ones who cause the 'haters' to complain, who possibly can have a perfectly legitimate reason to.

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW POPULAR THE SHOW IS. You know what else is popular and pisses me off; Apple products. Their mere existence gives me headaches. It doesnt matter though coz they dont pop up everywhere where they are not relevant or wanted, a very large distinction you need to make.

I never said anythign about furries getting **** for being prevalent, you just repeated what I said. It was to re-iterate my point against Zz's claim about people hating the show when I think youll find its the PEOPLE they hate as oppose to the actual show. People dont judge them because they watch a show targeted at 13 y/o girls, they judge them because they dont stop posting/talking about it where its not wanted.

In most cases on 4chan, people spam the one specific pony general with ******** bull****, usually consisting of gore and horse ****s/vaginas if they want to express their hatred. IN the pony thread. Which is counter productive because all it does is bump it and bring more attention, and then causes the image cap to be reached faster, which then just causes the creation of another pony thread.

Pony reaction images are often used in other threads because they make damn good reaction images, but threads rarely devolve into pony discussion unless it's obviously provoked.

Do you typicaly post in social threads? Where people are social and talking about social things, possibly a TV show you don't like?

Are you maybe referring to comic/art sites that bring it up because it's a popular topic?

These cases are justified reasons for it to be brought up. If touhou pops up in a social thread, I wait for the topic to shift to something I actually care about. I don't hate the touhou fans for talking about it. I mean it's not like pony pops up in a character's frame data thread, or a thread about a new tech. Though it'll pop up in tier list discussion or something like it sometimes because those threads are often derailed with ANYTHING and actual discussion rarely takes place.

It's just unfortunate coincidence that you go to be social where people like to socialize about ponies. Saying it should only be confined to certain places is silly. It's like saying I want touhou discussion confined to a touhou thread and I should get all hissypissy if it pops up somewhere else.

I don't like your idea. While I tolerate your want for things to be pony-free, I'm going to ignore that idea because I don't like it.

"Works both ways" arguments are stupid and a cop out. They cause infinite loops like the above where you could now say "I'll tolerate you tolerating my want for things to be pony-free but not liking the idea and ignoring it, but I don't like that idea, so I'm going to ignore it and keep pushing things to be pony-free."

This is about breaking rules. Obviously somebody'll get upset when people refuse to abide the rules.

However, a popular fanbase talking about something in a lot of places isn't breaking rules. It just means it's a prevalent and popular in many places. These things ARE popping up where they're wanted, and you just happen to frequent those places and YOU don't want them there.

You MUSNT forget the distinction between being intolerant of the subject, and being intolerant of those who push the subject. Im talking about reasons why complaining about it (intolerance) is ********. If bronies expect others to ignore things they dont like, they too should learn to ignore the haters. I think the issue here (besides the fact that fandom is always insane) is that people want to be able to geek out over something without being judged. However, it's the Internet, and it's public, and people are going to have opinions on your opinions.

If you're going to be "out" about something (anything), you'll have to learn to roll with the punches. That's just the way it is. You have some control over how much you let something bother you. The Internet is just the Internet. Trolls do what they do just to get a rise out of you.

And I'd rather not have issues of racial tolerance and other large scale social problems be brought up as parallels to this...whatever it is.

As for the show itself, I honestly don't get it. Back in my day, MLP were these little cheap plastic horse dolls with weird colored hair that every kid's little sister had. And I think I'll just leave it at that.
