If there are any crazy counterpick stages, I would make sure to ban the one that would give you the most trouble. I faced a falco player twice in the regular, and losers bracket and he beat me by picking jungle japes twice.

...yeah that wasnt fun.
Didn't you use Dave's Stupid Rule? And besides Brinstar there aren't any, really. And Brinstar is pretty okay.

I always band Yoshi's Island. It's horrible. Slants = FTL for Ganon.

The other 3 neutrals are safe/good for Ganon against the whole cast. I actually am beginning to truly love FD, esp against Martha.

Normally I'd bad some sh*t like Lylat for the same reasons I ban Yoshi, but depending on who you're facing, that will change. For instance, if you're facing a DDD or Falco, I'd ban Castle Seige. There are too many times where they could CG you off the side to death. You also have to be mindful if they pick Delfino for the same reasons...certain mutations of that level are gross for CGs, but also they can suck because DDD can trap you against a wall and just pummel away.
I will probably keep Yoshi's Island. I don't seem to mind the slopes at all, you just gotta be a bit more on your guard... Also, if I would decide to counterpick Wolf when I lose, bumping off one of his best stages is a pretty bad idea.

@Shadow Nataku: Thanks for all the info. :D I knew some stuff or realized it before hand but I'll definitely keep it all in mind.

So, tomorrow is the big day. Thank you all for your support and tips. I'm more than excited to take on as many people with the 'Dorf as possible. I got my strategies, my tips, controller, money for the trip and entrance fee, and I'm ready to rock. It's showtime!

I'm gonna go kick *** and eat sammiches, but I'm aaaaall out of sammiches.

So, I came back! All hail my glory of Ganondorf!

Although I hardly used my Ganondorf in tourney singles... I did that once, against Toon Link and I got owned pretty badly. In teams, though, ohoho teams. In teams Ganondorf is just so much better. Although me and my teammate made some stupid mistakes which caused us to go no further than fourth round. Pity, my Ganon was pretty boss in there.

The friendlies arguably went a lot better than the tournament matches. Well, not arguably... A lot better. I wasn't afraid to bust out the Ganondorf here and there, and I got to win a couple times too. For my first tourney, I thought I did extremely well.

People I fought with Ganondorf: Gheb (Wolf), Jumpman (Snake), Rebaz (Captain Falcon (best one on the planet XD)) and a couple others I don't remember... Snake is easy, I just need to work on that. Game and Watch is... Suprisingly easy. Especially in teams. Playing against Rebaz was too epic, Toon Link is a butt. >_< I got driven out of teams and singles by a Toon Link. Too lame. Most 'notables' said my Ganondorf was pretty good but that I needed to work on my reaction time.

It was definitely worth all the trouble going to this tournament, and I will go another one ASAP. And use more DK there. Seriously, Wolf was all over the place, Ganondorf was fast behind and DK... Didn't see the light of day. Pity.

The next one I'll go to, I'll make sure not to make stupid counterpicks and play smarter in teams. And tell Empy to stop suiciding.. xD

That's dope you got to play Jumpman and Rebaz. Both of those dudes are ace. Though you need to stop pussin' out and use ganondorf all the time.

I agree..and he was the one telling others to be manly and use him in tournaments.
Come to NYC sometime for a tourney, Kalm. It's a tall order, I know, but you wouldn't regret it. Two nasty Ganon mains at one huge tourney would be a sight to behold.

Lol, the thing was, I wanted this to be my richest tournament experience with the most matches, since it was my first tourney... I just wanted to get as far as I could.

Jumpman somehow managed to got second, even though I beat his Meta Knight and Game and Watch with Wolf.. Grumble grumble >_>

Fighting against Rebaz was pretty epic, his crew was there and when I interrupted his Falcon Kick with the Thunderstorm they all went 'Oooooohhh', it was too funny.

Next time, I'll go more Ganondorf, I just also wanted to prove (to myself, mostly) that I could beat these people from all over the country. It's suprising how many I got to beat in friendlies... While the tournament matches themselves were crap... My very last match became a Wolf ditto. :/ Not fun.

Although I murdered Gheb with Ganondorf <3

I always do not so great in tourney's, in Melee atleast.
The pressure kills my tech skill.
Brawl tourneys usually go okay.

once

*inserts random stage johns* (you kno what I mean lulz)

btw why don't you mention how I murdered your DK yayuhzz
Because Ganondorf is so much more manly than DK :D no johns you nub

Be glad I didn't mention how I wrecked your Boozer with Wolf O: Also, why didn't you do well in the tourney? I saw you ****** an MK at one point and then a while later he beat you o_O What was up with that?

Speaking of, I did get to play Melee against Marc... Who is this big-time Dutch Melee player... He wrecked me pretty badly XD Next time gotta remember L-cancel and wavedash...

I also got to play Brawl+... I wasn't impressed. I tried Ganondorf, and L-cancelling his fair felt good, and wavedashing was easy, but... I just didn't like it. After a while I just forgot about L-cancel and wavedash and the hitstun and just played Brawl like I would usually. Brawl is Brawl, Melee is Melee, Brawl+ is... Not worth the trouble.

Oh yea

My bowser sux against everything except MK (whoops, I guess that was another john XDDD)

Also, why didn't you do well in the tourney?
I was too nervous. Playing OoS for the first time ever + over 100 people (and I knew not one of them) + money involved...I really couldn't focus at all because there was so much pressure in my head. When I played friendlies I beat everybody except Boku and Gaki (yea I beat Jumpman twice and he beat me twice in friendlies...)...just because my head was much clearer. Next time I'll gt my act togethet and ****.

I saw you ****** an MK at one point and then a while later he beat you o_O What was up with that?
Pretty much like I explained above. It was weird though. I 3-stocked him on Yoshi's Island and lost by a small margin at Frigate Orpheon (I don't like that stage lulz). In the last match I had a 2 stock lead on castle Siege were I 0 deathed him with the CG. But then...I just lost it. It was just a bit too much for me. You have to remember that, while it wasn't the first tournament I played it was still greatly differenet from anything I've done before.

I'll come again sometime though, since Gaki promised to house me next time (he was drunk when he said it though XD) and then I'll show ya what I'm made of. I just need more experience with the tournament itself not with some battles I usually win.

Hm, yeah, the pressure was still there, but I didn't feel it as much. Sure, it was there, and it made me make some stupid mistakes, but it wasn't as omnipresent as I thought it would be.

I found teams to be a lot more relaxed, we were making jokes and just playing as if it was a friendly. It was a lot more chill and it helped me to prepare a bit for singles.. But I still did bad XD

Oh yeah teams is so much more relaxed, tourney or friendlies.
After a couple tourney's, a bit of the stress goes off, especially if you are playing with people you know.

It's not the same foir me. The tournament took place some hundreds on miles from my home. I knw nobody there. I only got to know Jumpman a few hours before. I felt like stranger having to beat an enemy army XD

Maybe I would've been more relaxed if I'd have played teams? Maybe. I actually wanted to team up with Jumpman but the train came too late, so we didn't ake it in time. Irony >_<
