Violence rarely ,if ever, solves any problems, so if someone hits you or makes you mad, don't hit them back. From past experience, I can tell you that it never does anyone any good. Instead, here's what you do: imagine them being tortured in the most sadistic way you can possibly imagine. As well as being incredibly satisfying and neutralising your anger, since you're only imagining it, no one gets hurt in real life.

When I was younger, I was prone to lashing out when angry; that doesn't happen anymore fortunately, because instead I can use this method to control my anger. Try it out. (Though make sure you distinguish between reality and fantasy while you're doing it...)

I never want people to be tortured. I'm usually stronger than kids trying to fight with me so I really don't care. I just make their arms go numb with a well aimed PAUNCH.

Imaging torture goes just too far for me, I'd rather hit them back and run/walk away

A lot of boys in London will pull out a weapon, in which case I will fight for my life.

Apart from that you're right, although self defence in the form of simple demobilization is okay. Like, just disable them so they're defeated but not actually hurt. I always like the middle ground, never an extreme.

Obviously you'd defend yourself in a life-threatening situation. I was mainly talking about when some people lash out over petty things.

I've been trying to work on that for a few months now. I still haven't kicked a guy's head and am trying to avoid doing so.

But if a guy tries to kick your ***, if he hits you. I don't see a reason to let him do so.

The only violent thing i've ever done, besides when I was a little kid, was when this guy came up behind me and put me in this hold where his arm came up my arm pits and held the back of my head.

I reached down and picked him up by the feet, then dropped backwards. I'm pretty sure that qualifies as self defense though, right?

I really hope I'm not the only person here who thinks this is bad advice.

I apologize if this post seems rude (mind you, it's only my opinion), it's just that if I asked a person for advice if someone was physically hurting me, and they said "Just picture them suffering extreme torture," I'd question their sanity a bit.

If someone hits me I'll kick their ***.

Why would I imagine them being tortured when I can put an end my pain right now?
My point.
If they try to beat you, kick their ***. I see nothing wrong with it.
If they hit you, you just hit them harder so they'll know who's the boss, man.
