Ohai guys,

I believe since I was six, my favorite band has been Gorillaz, and I own all of their music as well as videos and swag, but they haven't really done much after D-Sides and Damon Albarn's other band, Blur, hasn't done much lately either. Incubus is probably my other favorite band, but I have all their stuff, too.

As of late, I've been very much so into MUSE, Meese, Panic! at the Disco, Rise Against, and especially IAMX. I've recently started using Limewire, so I can pretty much just download anything.

Basically, what I would like to know is what would you guys suggest. I would prefer recommendations of the same basic genres as I have mentioned for artists. Regardless, I would appreciate any suggestions I can get. I would appreciate anything that isn't country or rap. I just hate country, and I'm looking for MUSIC, therefore no rap.

Love ya. Rap is crap.

Search "dead sunrise in the darkness" Tell me if you like it. Also try "walking in circles". If that's not your style, the rest of that album is fun rock.

Great suggestion. I'm getting all the rest of the bands music. Thanks a lot ^^

Also, Bohemian Rhapsody is way too good

Ya know, Everlong is easily one of my top ten favorites songs but I really haven't kept up with them. Thanks; I'll look into them.

Not all rap is crap. You just gotta know the right ones.
I hear ya dude. I listen to some rap as well.

I have a burning hatred for stupid rap though. Rap can be good, but when you're throwing inappropriate crap into a song and mumbling about some girl's ***, I kinda have to say, you're not a musician, you're a waste of space in the music industry.

You liked them!? I'm happy. Yay. ^_^ I love 'em more than Linkin Park now. The lead vocalist is the same guy.

Some of the rap I like to listen to has cursing and stuff. But the lyrics make sense as any other song, they aren't throwing all sorts off random s*** it either.

Also in reply to the thread, linken park, green day and smashing pumpkins.

No, cursing is fine. I just don't like it when they talk inappropriately about sex or just put words that rhyme together senselessly.

Also, you main Wolf, so you're awesome.

OP, I would also recommend KoRn, and as Draco said, Linkin Park and Avenged Sevenfold. These are iffies, but you might like Mushroomhead and Within Temptation. I'm not too sure about the last two. That's as situational as the DASC.

Actually, yeah Demonic, there are a few things Damon Albarn has done besides the Gorillas. Let me show you them.

Monkey Journey to the West: an opera from both people behind Gorillaz. music by Damon, design by Jamie

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oa86F2oGpWM

Mali Music, Damon Albarn working with musicans from Mali to raise money for charity

The Good, The Bad, and the Queen
Featuring the producer of Demon Days, the guitars of El Manana, and Damon Albarn, oh, and that bassest from The Clash and the lead Jamacian drummer

I think you should at the very least enjoy the last group. Also keep a look out for their third album due out next year.

Rap just sucks

Just dont search up Rap. It has no meaning, over used beat and cursees. Rap is just complete ******* on how they only talk about doing bad, and killing guys, and "shes my hoe!"

There is only a certain type of rap that is ok... 70 rap. when it was hoppin! That was some real music such as "THE BREAKS" and the Sugar Hill.

Besides rap, I recomend 70s and 80s. Its just sould music you need to listen to a few times.

Just dont search up Rap.

O rly? Let's see why

It has no meaning, over used beat and cursees.
Because today's rock is full of meaning, is not full of swear words, and the drum is more than over loaded cymbals and the patern of bass drum on 1 and 3?
Also, as counter examples to what you said, I present
1. A rapper who raps like no other: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOEE_Yc6zZQ
2. A beat maker who makes beats like no other: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUTEd3OmIK0
3. A second beat maker who makes beats like no other: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXULecvImpw
4. A rapper who has more meaning in his words than anything said on many main stream rock songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCSXMMF430w
5. Another rapper full of meaning and poetic wonder: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whGfOFOCE2s

Rap is just complete ******* on how they only talk about doing bad, and killing guys, and "shes my hoe!"
How on earth can rock talk about rejecting all authority and power?
How on earth can country talk about conforming to lifestyles?
How on earth can etc. etc.

Try Weezer, the Tings Tings, Beck, the Flobots, and the Killers

S.O.L.I.D., I knew you were going to say that.

I'm going to recommend The Arcade Fire, Beirut, Belle & Sebastian, The Decemberists, The Dresden Dolls, Girl Talk, Hawksley Workman, Metric, Mother Mother, The Mountain Goats, The New Pornographers, The Postal Service, Sarah Slean, The Shins, Stars, Tegan & Sara, Wolf Parade, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

In no particular order. Well, alphabetical. Hope this helps you out.

why do like him so much?
Why do you not?
Why do you constantly enforce your opinion into a situation upon humor, music, and smash, among other things?
Why do you assume yourself more intelligent than those who disagree with your opinion?

His lyrics make me think.

I just don't like his music idk
I didn't enforce my opinion i said that I don't like lupe and I wnated to know why he did so much. I'm just curious i guess lol
How did I make myself more intelligent?

Serj made me open my eyes and think about humanity and so many other things.

Oh, I also have another recommendation, Jimi Hendrix :D
seattle ftw
purple haze is amazing. I go to the school that he got expelled from :bee:

You constantly argue opinion, meaning that you must think that your opinion is the right one.
you always do this lol
He said he liked lupe and I said I didn't like him. He stated his opinion and I stated mine. Then I asked him why he enjoyed lupe so much because I was interested to hear someone else's pov about music
