Even though I'm not a Rosalina main(atleast not anymore), I gotta ask this question...
How do you guys/girls handle the hate given for maining Rosalina and Luma(if you get hated for it that is)? Only asking because of mariotehplumber and a buncha people who tell Rosa mains to kill themselves.
I've always kinda lived by a "don't let mindless hate from people who spend too much time on the internet effect you" policy.
When it comes to Rosalina, since I am quite passionate about the character, I will try to put forward an argument or alternate perspective if people are putting forward what I call "coherent hate/ignorance" (i.e. the opinions may be very badly realised or I heavily disagree but the person is at least speaking properly and relatively politely). But if they get trolly or tryhard or just overall unpleasant, then I just start ignoring them.
Regarding Smash though, I've mostly been abstaining from participating in or even reading competitive discussion lately, as it often doesn't go well. You correct someone who is underselling Rosalina? Then you are a "Rosalina-stan" who overglorifies the character. You try to provide counter strategies for other characters when they are facing Rosalina? Then they will relentlessly refuse to not actually try the thing you suggest and claim that you "just don't want your precious waifu to be nerfed" and that you're trying to fool them. The Smash fanbase is very toxic in general and I mostly stay out of it these days. When it comes to Smashboards, the only threads I really visit anymore are this Rosalina social thread, the Sonic social thread (aka the happy thread), and the Amiibo thread. I will sometimes pop by other threads but I won't post much.
Overall, Rosalina is a "controversial" character, but it's not really the character's fault. It's mostly just people being salty at the character for one reason or another, be it over-obsessive roster speculators getting salty because Rosalina got into a game while a character they expected didn't, or Smash players being salty for losing to Rosalina a lot. As a fan of the character, I just got used to all of this. I accept that she's got some weirdos in her fanbase who get off on her being objectified into some damsel who gets "sexually tortured" (and that I may be incorrectly grouped in with those people), I accept that her hatedom is just as weird if not worse than the weird side of the fanbase. I accept that she will always have people misinterpret her for no reason, be it calling her "Princess Rosalina" or thinking she's Peach and Luigi's time travelling daughter. I accept that the Smash community will always give unfair hate to the character (which they'd probably do even if she was the worst character competitively), and I accept that the Rosalina player base in the Smash community is mostly very set in their ways and that there is no point trying to show them any innovation to help better their play.
I'll just continue spreading the love for the character as best as I can. I can confidently say that I'll always love Rosalina as a character (...I better, or else all of this Rosalina merch I have will have been a waste of money!), even though there are occasions where I feel that is a heavy undertaking or that it can actually cause me stress if I see too much negativity or misconceptions about her at one time.

Nintendo World Report put up their preview of Ultra Smash and it really doesn't sound promising.

I like how they legitimately point out Rosalina as being one of the few noteworthy, cool things about the game:
What isn't exactly forward thinking is the roster of characters, as it feels uninspired and it doesn't really feature any major newcomers. Mario, Luigi and the standard crew are there, which is honestly not a surprise. The only characters I enjoyed playing as are Rosalina and Bowser Jr. The former floats in the air very elegantly and uses her magic to let the ball float before throwing it up. There are some cool touches with Bowser Jr. too, as he is actually in the clown car and the robot arms are doing all the work for him.
Also they have this really cool screenshot of her in there.
