Alright so i recently started to play monopoly with my dad. Last time i played i beat him. id like to own him without the fear of having to die. what i do is to buy the light blue color groups, the purple color groups and buy the red color groups. afterwards i usually get the little money i have left from having been screwed by my dad and the ****ing monopoly guy (yeah i play with teh fast die (the red one)) and i start building houses like crazy. i usually start with two houses on each property. after when i start to start to screw my dad (because he always lands on my houses) i start to rack up serious money. then i start going to start buying hotels. afterwards that usually screws my dad over. i ended up with 2.2k at the end and would have been 3k but i got screwed over by the community chest by having to pay for each house and hotel i owned (about 800). so anyways im playing again tonight and i need someone to give me a great strategy for beating my father without having to fear of losing it all (and remember if someone gives me a good strategy i play with the fast dice so sometimes its all about luck)

on another note that i really dont want to disscuss and would like a pm or visitor message better is if someone would like to tell me a great strategy for stratego. i got pwned by my dad badly last night.

i dunno they recently released the red die or fast die. what that die does is that it has numbers 1-3(i think one of teh numbers is repeated) except for 2 of the sides. one has the monopoly man and the other one has the picture of a bus. what the 1-3 does is that if you get those you add those up to your dice total. if you get the man that means that if you land on a space you have to buy it if it hasnt been bought yet or if it is yours then you have to put it up for auction. (that man screwed me over many of my properties) if you get the bus then that means you could split the totals. ie. if you get one die with 5 and the other with 6 you could choose to move 11, 5, or 6. again that was just designed to make the game go faster and make it have a certain air of luck. you dont have to play that. the most that it has taken with that die is 5 hours. at the end we went to sleep at 3AM.

First, try 2 get 1 of each color, they won't get a monopoly if u do that. Second, buy railroads. Utilities are good 2 but not near as good as railroads. Third, once u have a monopoly, try 2 get 3 houses each as soon as possible. Fourth, 7 is the most commonly rolled number so put an xtra house there if u don't know where 2 put it. Lastly, monopoly depends largely on luck, even great strategy can fail if the game hates u, so don't get upset. Btw, those r n no particular order. Have fun!

Stinkoman tells lies. It's a fun game if you don't mind the time it takes. Also, the red die sounds idiotic. Sorry, but I'm a bit of a board game purist like that. As far as strategy, just get a monopoly you can afford to build up fairly quickly, while keeping your opponent from doing the same. It's really all just luck of the roll of the dice though. Also, utilities are stupid, and railroads are godly. I would sell houses to buy a railroad if I had to, and I would mortgage as well. Just get a lot of them, and they pay themselves back and more so quickly.

you know you are right about seven being the most common number. my dad kept getting pairs like 3+3+1 so he kept going again and again and again and again. lulz it went on for like 5 or 6 turns. lets say he got really screwed with all those sevens

Also, the orange monopoly is the best. Great value and people land on it coming out of jail.

jolly old england. hohoho.
The last game I played ended with one guy accusing the girl of being a commie, me hanging out in jail more than 50% of the game, another girl selling all her properties off for cheap (out of spite to the leader) and the last guy stealing money from the bank. It finished with someone toppling the board over - a fitting end.

Good times.

I can't stand playing Monopoly because it takes soo long to finish a single game. It's 10x worse when your losing and just want to get it over with. My longest game was 6 hours back in January of 2004. It sucked but at least I won. I think my friends and I only decided to play it because it was Simpsons edition.

By the way Stratego is a smashing game. My record is like 3-19 but it's still fun.

My strategy is better.

At the setup of the game, call banker. Steal money from the bank. Bingo, infinite money.
That's what I do. I land on a house and can barely pay for it? I take a couple hundreds from the bank and by more houses.

GGs people who play fair.

EDIT: I love Stratego.

Try playing without the red die. It seems too cheap. Why in my old day *blah blah blah* . . . . . . and that's how you won. Otherwise, just have an even distribution of houses/hotels. Do you use the extra rules? (Like money from taxation is placed on Free Parking)

The secret of Monopoly is being able to think on your feet. There is no set strategy other than trying to react as best as possible to the current situation.

But yeah, stealing from the bank usually works too.

Monopoly is largely luck-based. Pretty much buy everything you can, then auction it off later if it benefits you to do so.

My family plays with very few restrictions in terms of negotiations, so alliances/politics add some depth, but I still feel cheated when people are dodging me all over the board and I land on the one space my brother has been nursing the whole game.

I don't like how many times you said "screw"...but good strat.

Used to play with friends, my start was buy the cheap light blue and orange and pink & sometime utilities, Yellow and dark blue are my last resorts if the others have been bought. + I steal money every now and then. Easy.

And yea, buy one of each color, bwhaha

I say just buy all that you can and see how it benefits you in the long run. Chances are, either you'll need the property or someone else will who is also willing to pay for it. Just cross your fingers on the luck of the die and buy buy buy lol.

Actually depends on which 50% you were talking about. The first half or the last half. Because if its that last half its actually a good strategy to not try to get out of jail. When most or all of the properties have been bought then that way you can stay in jail and avoid paying rent in case you wouldve landed there if you had not been in jail. Actually I played 2 days ago and I swear I spent a long time in jail near the end of the game. I watched this guy go bankrupt by landing on an expensive as ****ing ****. If I would have probably landed there my myself anyways. I lost anyways but on the bright side I lost second place in a group of four people. Thanks to that **** red die. That thing has screwed me over a billion times. I really should go back to the old days where you used to play with two white dice

btw one reason my father lost quicker was because when he was in the bathroom when I stole a couple hundreds. LULZ my dad was none the wiser

Use the money you make off your cheaper properties that have houses to buy more properties instead of going hotel crazy. There really is no "best" property to buy, it just depends on how much cash you have. Try to get buy as much property as possible without biting off more than you can chew. I really like to buy up those cheap ones in the beginning too (purple/light blue), then put houses on 'em and play it buy ear. I also try to be the first person to buy at least 2 of the green properties (pacific, nc, penn), as they are basically just as badass as park place and boardwalk and yet there are 3 of them instead of 2.

Since winning is mostly luck what I like to do sometimes is be the "annoying dude" playing.

Go last, and buy all the properties that someone else is about to get monopoly's in so no-one can get monopolys. You won't do that well in the beginning but later on people will start wanting that monopoly and start offering you OUTRAGEOUS amounts of cash for the property.

Of course, being the annoying dude you should never sell it
