Minimum tech skill required to play fox?

Should be self explanatory. Fox has a very high tech skill ceiling but what's his tech floor?

Is shffl aerial>shine all that's required with good reads?

Are certain things like shffl dair>shine>wave dash>grab>uthrow>uair staples in his game that make learning waveshining mandatory?

Will things like shffl dair> jc shine> bair > gimp with bair/nair cut it?

fox can be good by just abusing dd, shine, n-air, and up-smash. if you want to see an example, look at kels or cactuar. you'll be forced to play more defensively if you can't do all the shield pressure mix-ups, but fox is a fast character with a lot of really safe options available to him

honestly, i think that up-throw up-air is one of the most important skills a fox player can have

thats it, IMO and at least be decent with ledgetechs, quite important for fox

of course alot of things make winning with fox much easier with just a bit more effort, like for example invincible ledgedash and shine-upsmash on marth

Dash dancing is how you create openings. If you can dd properly, you can hit the opponent with anything you want. I have no idea what you mean by "pull off a usable move", as attacking out of dash dance is as simple as recognizing the opening and picking an option.

He probably thinks that SHFFL nair is more important than a proper dash dance because you push buttons when you do it. And because hitting a nair is more recognizable as a successful play than creating an opening with movement is.

You could literally press A and just dash attack, no tech skill required, and if it's guaranteed out of a good dash dance you can do a LOT of damage (depending on guaranteed no CC punish, etc.)

Techskill gives you options tho.
I don't think it should be regarded as "how little do I need to learn to use this character"
But rather "how much is practical to give me the optimum amount of options in any given situation"

no, seriously. JC up smash, standing up smash (c^) and wavedash up smash are your only necessary tech skills.

JC up smash is the most challenging tech skill. then shine > wavedash.

the best tech skill you can have is

1. don't get hit
2. don't jump into the ****
3. "tech" chase
