Judge Mafia

• 5 Players
  - 2 Mafias
  - 2 Towns
  - 1 Judge

Alright, let's say that it's like popcorn mafia. Scum picks out who would be the potential gun holder first, and the gun holder decides who to shoot. If the player shot is scum, he lives and moves on to the next. If he shoots town, he dies. But here's the thing; He doesn't. The shooter is actually invincible, so even if he shot town he still has to pick who he or she should shoot until the endgame.

This is what judge mafia is. Scum picks who should be the judge, and when the judge is chosen, the game begins. The player chosen as the judge will remain as judge permanently. Town and Mafia's job is to convince that judge who is scum, therefore, choosing a nominee as guilty.

Town wins when all scums are imprisoned.
Scum wins when all towns imprisoned.

Roles:

Town has the no power but the use of voice and intelligence.
Scum has the power to pick any judge they wish.

Judge has the power to Penalize. (i.e. Penalize: Player X)

What do you think? Should I put one scum, 3 townies, and one judge? Or should I make it 6 players?

To make it even more intensifying (possibly) the judge must pick who to penalize by sending me a pm instead of doing it in public (that's what she said).

Edit-- I might even rename this as "Judge Judy mafia" or "The people's court: Mafia edition".

It's like king maker. 1 is scum is good. And if more people want to play, still keep it at 1-2 I guess.

Also, judge is confirmed town.

With 2/5 being scum, we only have one mislynch.

So:

1 Town Judge (confirmed town)
3 Town

7 players:

2 scum
1 Town Judge
4 Town

I don't know about keeping the judge permanent. I mean we can try it and see if it works. Just may be better to give the town a chance to give the 'judge' to someone else. I mean, if a judge gives a penalty to town, they are wrongly using their power and should be penalized themselves.

@Ran since it's basically like popcorn (there aren't any votes; it's just the judges call), town doesn't need to be balanced against mafia. Town wins when either all the mafia are imprisoned. And scum wins when both town are imprisoned.

Ramen got it all in the right ways, okt's basically like popcorn, except the judge doesn't die. As stated it is scum and town's job to convince him or her who should be penalized. And when he or she chooses who when sendi me a pm, I will announce who is now imprisoned.

I think I should add in one thing though. The judge literally has to be like a judge. Questioning and responding, but not helping out on any side. Otherwise, that wouldn't be so.....Judgy.

2 scum and 2 towns for now to see how it works. After that I'll consider adding in another town afterwards. I think it's better to experience this kind right now and see what you and others think afterwards, which will help me a plenty hell lot.

Basically, even if he has to help either side, he'll still be 'looking for scum' because that's his only real goal. So he's essentially still on town's side, just not in their numbers haha.

What the judge shouldn't be doing though is making a case, doing reads, and etc. That's town and mafia's work in order to convince them.

A defense attourney would defend the players. What better way to assure the scum is found? OH but it gets better.

If the defense atourny is town, the prosecutor has to be scum. and vice versa. But they aren't confirmed. How about that?

That looks nice, meaning that the either the defense or prosecuted can be town or mafia with another town. Or mafia. I like that.

Also....I meant the judge to be none but the judge. Yes, it still has to find scum, but the restriction is that they cannot, nor ever, give out reads, cases on who's scummy, and stuff like that. The judge has to think over it during the game him or herself and give out her decision. This will make it even more of a competition rather than a normal popcorn mafia.

Question though, this would mean that I have to start off by doing a MURDER CASE rather than nothing for a traditional game. This is pretty nice.

So would the the town attorney and regular town be confirmed to each other? What would an attorney do differently than regular town?

That's a pretty good question. A town defense attourney would defend the town and then mafia prosecutor would have to defend a scum.....wouldn't that be a little off?

No. The attourney and prosecutor would be confirmed as the PR's they are, just like the judge. Yet, you don't know their alignment.

It's up to the town to figure out which of the two is town, and hope that town is right.

Once people figure that out, they should be able to see what direction the mafia attourney/prosecutor was going and would simply have to go the opposite direction.

Considering if the prosecutor and mafia should have access to communication.

The town prosecutor or attourney know the other is scum, but of course the other would say the same he would. So it would be moot to say IM TOWN lol
