10/10, in the gaming world, does not mean a perfect game. In most art mediums, 10/10 doesn't mean perfect. As for your complaints about more features in a sandbox game, well, I guess Notch should just stop adding things to the game? Right? And I don't even know what the "theme" of Minecraft is, unless you're talking about the theme of building stuff.
I mean this fantasy theme he went with. He added a dragon, castles, fortresses, and quest givers, but he never really completed the idea. The quest givers don't give quests, the dragon is a boring fight that is longer than it should be, and the fortresses are pretty much empty. If he wanted a fantasy theme, he should've stuck with it and went all out with it. Right now, it just seems unpolished.
Also, to what you said in the post above: He can still update it, plenty of games update their games regularly with new content. It's not an excuse to release an incomplete game, though.

I can do that too, Wave.

Let me quote.

"It in its state should not be considered a completed game because Notch says so."

I said this.

It's nice that he's doing what he's doing. "patching" the game, as so many developers nowadays do. But what do you think a Beta is for? Why do you think Bungie had a MP Beta? Those are to work out the major kinks. And yet there's still major kinks in this game. Just look at the link I posted.

I don't feel like arguing about it any further.

eh, it kind of does. dumb people hand out perfect scores like candy, but a 10/10 still means a perfect [insert medium here].

question, does the XP system do anything yet?

EDIT: oh god people use the "beta" argument again. do you know what beta means? it means feature complete, as in this is it, we're not adding anything else, just bug fixing from now on.

Yeah it does, although it really isn't worth it or even useful until you get enough stuff for an enchantment table, which uses your XP levels to get different enchantments for your tools and armor

I'm not sure whether your writing me off or agreeing with me, Tpk. Because that's, like, exactly what I was implying.

I guess that, ideally, a 10/10 should mean perfect, but practically speaking, it's far from it.

Also totally confused by where the conversation has gone

I just finished watching the video, it's just a mod that turns people into horses...it only turns MLP if people start changing their skins.

The mod itself is called "Mine Little Pony"

and the author himself made it specifically for pony people to interact in some kind of minecraft-pony ways

http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/748553-100-mine-little-pony-v10/

Besides, they also have horns and wings

Edit: While I think it would be hilarious to see my character as a pony, I can't make heads or tails of the skin thing. It's almost entirely the same color

Some guy is going to use my minecraft skin on his server as an NPC modded into the game to attack people that go into areas they aren't suppose to. It's an RP server.

Thought that was a neat little idea, so I gave him permission

Wait, can I make my own skin?

If so, I'm making everything super simple. As in one tone blocks.

How's it about genetics when colored sheep are just dyed?

Yep.

What can't be seen doesn't mean it isn't inherited in their genes.

Both parents could be, say, brown eyes, but if they have the gene for blue eyes (a recessive trait I think is what it's called) there's a small possibility that the child will have blues eyes.

And could also be a white dragon.

Ah I remember the good old days when I was just learning about heredity.

Sure those old days were last year, but they were still good days

Pree cool.

I also learned we could manufacture the kids we want to have, as they found recently the genes that determine our physical nature.

Or, at least, that's what I heard last year when i was in Biology.

What I mean, is they are ALL white sheep, just with their fur colored through dyes.

I guess you could count the sheep in the wild as naturally having colored wool, but just putting coloring on it doesn't change it genetics, but it'll still follow that pattern

Yes, you can.

If you go to Minecraft.net it let's you upload your skins, and gives you a default skin which you can edit

Here's mine:

You can also edit textures, such as grass etc. If you open the bin folder there is a file called Minecraft.jar. You can open that file with programs such as 7zip. Inside Minecraft.jar is A LOT of files. Scroll all the way down and you will see a terrain.png file.

You can edit this file, but if you save it in the Minecraft.jar, it overrides the default texture pack. You have to save it in a zip file in the texture pack folder

Some of those existed prior to Minecraft's official release though? And I thought some of those weren't really bugs, such as the door properties.

One of my engineering courses has started teaching us logic gates...

I guess all the redstone I learned came in handy... if that means anything.

Huh. Did not see that coming, I guess?
From the way he put it, I think he did the right thing. Minecraft is great, and if he truly trusts that Jebs can direct it in the direction he'd want it, I would think it was the right decision in his heart.
