The least I can see about Gorf behaving suspiciously is he hasn't even posted in the game yet. Seems like your circular reasoning is a strech.
Do you think Rosalina is scummy for reaching for reasons to vote Gorf? Or is it reasonable to not have much reasoning this early in the game?

I don't believe Rosa is scummy for voting Gorf either. It's too early in the game to have concrete reasons to vote for someone, however votes do stir up some activity and reactions

Thanks for your answer and I appreciate your opinion on Rosa, though I'm more interested in what Captain Hotcakes has to say on the matter.

What do you think of Stick Dude so far, Hunter? And what do you think of Kursed and I for voting for him?

I've noticed that Stick Dude hasn't objected much to being voted for twice
I'd be a bit peeved regardless of the stage of the game.
As for Kursed, voting for him doesn't really say much besides "I want to get this game started"
Seems like you voted as well to get a reaction from Stick Dude

So if you had to take a guess at what alignment Kursed and I are, what would you say?

any read would be pretty baseless given the stage of the game imo
Unless you want me to just give two random reads
Well I want you to base it off of our actions so far in this game.

For example, you have said that Kursed was probably voting Stick Dude to get the game rolling, and that I was doing so to get reactions. Do you think those motivations indicate that we're town? Or do you think that it's too hard to tell and we could easily be doing the same thing as scum?

I don't like Stick's attitude towards voting, Hunter. Do you feel counter voting is right without reason?

Aye
I'm mixed on RVS, but it gets the game going
Counter voting wont help towards a scum lynch
There are other ways to show your displeasure with a random vote than to counter vote

Do you think that it's particularly productive to vote someone for the sole reason that they voted you first? What does this accomplish? Do you think anyone who votes you must be scum?
I've already answered this question.

No, I would not assume that they're mafia just because they voted against me on Day 1, but I would counter-vote to show that I'm not happy about it. :p

Why vote Kursed instead of me when we both voted for you?
Kursed voted for me to get me to counter-vote.

Could you explain what the problem was? I wanted to Kursed to remove his vote first since he voted first.
Kursed had a perfectly legitimate reason to vote you: to get the ball rolling. And you, instead of going along with it, counter-voted, showing disagreement. Disagreement can be showed in different, less anti-town ways. Counter-voting just because he voted you doesn't appear particularly co-operative, imo. As town, we need to co-operate to get as much information as possible.

FoS Stick
(fyi, fos stands for finger of suspicion, indicating I am suspicious of you without actually needing me to vote for you and risk an alpha strike)

Why would you backtrack so suddenly? And why is the fact that this is a game so significant? Doesn't your objection still remain? That Kursed voted you to provoke a counter-vote from you, making your vote entirely legitimate?

It's not quite circular reasoning. Gorf is Gorf, and Gorf needs to be voted. Simple. (Basically RVS. I'm coming up with ridiculous reasoning to back up my vote of Gorf, possible provoking a reaction and a source for conversation.)

Right, we got 5 days till deadline. Right now, if I had to vote, it would prob be Stick or Hotcakes. They seem most sus to me right now. Hotcakes is primarily based off his over-reaction to what should have obviously been an RVS vote. And Stick seemed to be indecisive, and rather contradictory. So basically scum reads on those two right now, but this is still early days yet. We still have plenty of time to discuss things, and my opinions will probably change as Stick answers my questions, and as they react to my opinion.

@Everyone Reads right now?

READING TIME!

Kursed: Town with slight FoS, stirring RVS reactions, but hasn't elaborated on his vote on Stick Dude.
Stick Dude: Noob town with FoS due to handling reactions. Extremely impulsive countervoting with fallback.
Hotcakes: Hotcaketeer. Servin' up them fluffy flaps wit' dat hot skillet. Fill ya up faster than a discounted IHOP breakfast.
Hunter: Neutral with slight town read, suspicious on sidelining Stick Dude's countervote reasoning, but FoS on Kursed & Kantrip is solid.
Gorf: Neutral, very quiet and won't contribute much for a while. Waiting this one out till he contributes to the game state.
Kantrip: FoS. Contradictory reasoning for countervoting Kursed when he applies the opposite argument on Stick Dude.
Rosalina: Town, stirring RVS reactions.

yo cappy why do you particularly care about rosas vote on me and not about, oh i dunno, stick dude schenanigans?

that is all for now :)
Stick Dude's shenanigans were already being handled at the time. As for my read on him, he doesn't seem too bad compared to other players.

He disclaimed that this is his first true Mafia game. His plays so far remind me of the way I handled my first few Mafia games. Impulsive votes based on perturbation from more experienced players.

However, I can't just straight-up discount him as noob town, since trying to stay off the radar by unvoting is a scummy move. If he wants to divert suspicion on himself, then I'd rather hear him weigh in on other player reads than just turtling for the rest of the game.

TBH, I would rather keep him alive for at least D2 to see how he'll shape up in the game.

Do you think Rosalina is scummy for reaching for reasons to vote Gorf? Or is it reasonable to not have much reasoning this early in the game?
I agree that he doesn't need any reason really to vote Gorf D1. Seems like he's actively questioning all players.

It's not quite circular reasoning. Gorf is Gorf, and Gorf needs to be voted. Simple. (Basically RVS. I'm coming up with ridiculous reasoning to back up my vote of Gorf, possible provoking a reaction and a source for conversation.)
Really, I'm just questioning as many people that have been called out thus far. Can't just leave any RVS vote unobjected. From this point, we'll just have to see how Gorf reacts to the developments of the next few real-time days.

I thought that counter-voting was the most vocal way to express my distaste.

I responded rudely to Hunter when he threatened to vote for me because I was taking things too seriously, my objection does still remain.

I unvoted in panic because Hunter threatened to vote for me. I don't think it's a scummy move, no one wants to be lynched.

Why can't a townie panic if there's going to be 3 votes against him on the first day of his first game?

Because townies are more relaxed in a sense. The whole point of mafia on the forum is to see who jumps or freaks out.
Usually mafia begins to freak out the most because there is only two of them and it's game over if they get out. With townies, It's like "oh yeah, sure. vote for me. Your loss." Even if you die, we find out one thing. If you're mafia or town.

There is no reason for you to be L-1. Like what are you guys thinking?

That's not quite true. Townies also have reason to be annoyed, as they prefer to have scum lynched, and they know themselves to be town. However, it is true mafia are often more concerned about being lynched.

I dislike how rigidly Stick Dude has adhered to his idea of countervoting to show displeasure. The refusal to unvote before Kursed followed by getting defensive when Hunter threatened to vote him puts me off, and the quick turnaround right after seems strange. However, I know he is new and feel like he could still he learning the purpose of votes and the importance of taking other people into account so the knee-jerk reaction followed by the change in attitude could be totally natural. I would lynch him if it came down to it, but I don't know that I can call him scum at the moment.
