Kinda makes me think of what the Magicant Bat from Earthbound might look like if it had some sort of unique appearance.

The Home Run Bat has always looked very similar to the one Ness used, perhaps the change was to differentiate the two?

If that was the case, the Lip's Stick reappearing would probably put the nail in the coffin for Lip's chances.
