I have no problem with the SS casual costume even if it's merely a recoloring rather then a full remodeling, the alterate costumes matter so little to me that I'm fine with them just being there period I suppose.

Great update. With the Little Mac's alt I was already hoping on more interesting alts for more characters, good to see it's actually happening. This colour-scheme does look a bit awkward on Link's usual model, but I like it a lot regardless. Here's hoping for a doctor alt for Mario.

Today's PotD has just as much to do with Ridley as yesterday's.

The 'There's Always someone bigger!' is yet Another hint that size doesn't matter in any way. Size is the main argument people have against Ridley, and I'm sure Sakurai is aware of that.

No matter how you say it, Yesturday's pic is more 'related' to Ridley than today's. ^^

Anyways, I am surprised people are so annoyed at Link having a hat here. It's just a palette swap, that resembles Link's SS clothes. It's not suppose to be a alt costume. It's just like the Dark Link one.

How is this any different than the other alts? At least they took the time to make the design on the tunic instead of just swapping colors.

Really, this is just an alt color, how could you be disappointed?

I guess now is a good time to ask, but why do people want an Outset Toon Link costume so much? It's just Toon Link with a blue shirt and without his hat, I've never gotten the fuzz about it.

It's kinda cool to see someone fighting with casual clothes, it's like Ness' pajamas or Naked Snake.

I doubt that Sakurai knows about the PJs honestly, in the Japanese version he's naked during that sequence. So yeah, naked Ness for Smash?

I know he's naked during Magicant in the Japanese version, but he also has his PJs at the beginning, before he goes to investigate the meteor. I'm pretty sure that's still in the Japanese version. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the closet savior to what would be Naked Ness is Captain Underpants.

To be honest, I'm glad we're getting more alt-like recolors if we can't get full-on costumes.

But this one simply looks bad.

It's not even about having a hat, I'd actually like getting Outset Toon Link with hat+belt, that's the least of my worries. It's the deal with adding detail on the texture by just casually painting directly over it without giving a **** about actual shapes, the added protection in the gauntlets and the chainmail also take away from the casual look it should have. And don't get me started on the blue parts, they look as if someone just spray-painted them over his regular tunic. (and totally the wrong shade of blue at that, it might actually look decent if it wasn't for the blue parts)

I generally don't even mind recolors of this kind, Dark Link in Brawl was cool, so was Fusion Suit Samus. The thing is, those didn't actually try to add extra details to the character, they just changed the colors of existing parts and worked with what they already have, and had a generally good-looking palette. I can't say the same about this one, it just doesn't work well.

I am late, but the alternate bothers me to an extent; not necessarily the alternate, I suppose, but its implications. It is just a recolor that is antithetical to the purpose of the outfit in the game. Link is not supposed to be wearing a Knight outfit inspired by his civilian clothes. Smash is non-canon, I understand that, but it attenuates my enjoyment of the outfit and I am not looking forward to seeing future "costumes" either. The least he could have done was take off the hat, but then he would have to actually animate Link's hair. That is clearly too much of a burden. Not that I would want to see the entirety of his repugnant hair, mind you.

Just saying, if that Skyward Sword-esque tunic is the only "alt recolor" we get out of Link, I'll feel disappointed.

Likewise, we could really do with some more moveset information about Ike, Diddy, King Dedede, and Charizard; none of them were in the demo, and none of them ever really got much focus before.
