I really doubt Sakurai's even aware of the situation that's going on. At the very least he knows that Ridley has 'overseas' popularity, but chooses to focus more on balancing the roster and adding new franchises into the fold.

I completely disagree, Sakurai is paying close attention to exactly what's going on. He asks fans way in advance to be public about their most wanted. In E3 interviews he turns it on the media asking what character they want and how they'd fight.

He has explicitly teased confirmations and deconfirmations endlessly.

The Smash specific direct blatantly nodded to Ridley's shadow as an easing of the blow, only because he knows how hard we're gonna take it.

As much as I'd like to see that, wouldn't it be too soon to show anything like that? I'd imagine it takes a lot of work putting that in, and the feedback was only received recently. It'd still be awesome to hear something like that, though.

"Pic of the Day! We receive a lot of comments from fans on changes we should make to the gameplay. To what degree have we listened to this feedback? I'll never tell!"

The picture would of course be a shot of Peach doing a taunt or something.

That would be great! Though, seems a bit early. They might still be filtering through all the feedback and finding solutions to make the most amount of people happy. We might see something like "Most people didn't use ____, so we've beefed it up" similar to Marth's shield break or something like that in... I feel like the middle of July... but I dunno
