I still wouldn't be at all surprised if the whole "Ridley is too big" argument/meme/issue/whatever is something Sakurai doesn't even know exists.
Probably not but people seem to think he looks though forums like this all the time and knows what people talk about.

In case people don't really understand the story, a user from DeviantART was able to figure out how tall Rosalina is when she's compared to Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach. He used the Super Mario Galaxy models while working on the size comparisons, and it appears that Rosalina is 7'7", rivaling the height of Mega Mewtwo X, being an inch taller than Ganondorf, who's 7'6", and is surprisingly taller than Dragonite, who's 7'3".

Now, following Sakurai's description, as tall as Rosalina is, there are creatures other than Bowser and Donkey Kong, who outsize her. This even includes certain Pokemon, such as Rhyperior (7'10") and Beartic (8'6"). Even Rayquaza heavily outsizes Rosalina by several feet.

IDK if it's true anymore, but photoshop always blurs a pixel image when you upscale it so I always used Microsoft Paint which didn't
You can make Photoshop preserve the hard edges of a image by selecting the Nearest Neighbor option under Resample Image.

Mmm, nothing like filler to start the week. E3 Season is over.
E3's over but I wouldn't doubt it if Sakurai stalled for time until next Tuesday. We're 6 for 16 for the month anyways so I'm honestly not holding my breath for anything exciting this week. The only possible new thing I could see happening is maybe the reveal of one of the Mii Fighters final smashes but even that seems generous.

Yeah Rosalina is giant of a woman, though I sometimes tend to forget that Peach is actually a pretty tall women too.

And when you think it over, Mario (who's presumed to be 5'1") is apparently supposed to be taller than Krookodile, Greninja, and Lucario; Krookodile and Greninja are both 4'11", while Lucario is 3'11".

But like with Pikachu, size comparisons aren't always constant in the Super Smash Bros. series, seeing as Bowser is shorter than he was in Brawl.

SIze comparisons aren't consistent with Nintendo PERIOD.

Look at Wario for example in his first appearance:

and his size to mario now:

In truth, Wario is taller than Mario, but he barely even reaches Yoshi's height, who's presumed to be slightly shorter than Luigi.

Height in general in Nintendo franchise is pretty lax, at best they keep a height hierarchy instead specific heights like Peach always being taller then Mario and Luigi without having to define the actual heights.

Expect for Pokemon which isn't even consistent within its own series. There are several times where Pokemon seem to be far bigger then their pokedex size would seem to suggest or at least they've been shown. Then again that's probably understand since Pokemon aren't specific individuals but members of a species.

I'd rather have gotten info on the stage than the caption we got, but at least Sakurai is starting to reveal more about it. That said, I don't like how the stage looks at all, so I'll probably turn it off, especially if it has hazards as annoying as the Mario Bros one.

Both Pac-Man's stages are like the classic Mushroom Kingdom stages from 64 and Melee, as well as Mario Bros. and 75 m from Brawl.

The 3DS version also has Balloon Fight as one of those classic recreation stages.

You guys might want to temper your expectations about reveals going forward. The Japanese 3DS version releases on September 13. There are 59 PotDs and probably one Nintendo Direct between now and then. Let's ask ourselves what we still need to know.

We probably know most of the starting roster. Presumably G&W was shown so clearly and then not put on the site because he's a secret character. Most of the veterans we haven't seen have been historically secret characters; the only ones outside of that are Wario, Meta Knight, Ice Climbers, and Lucas. Lucas is broadly speculated to be cut so that's only three "guaranteed" character reveals between now and Japanese release. If they're done during PotD, that means we get about one every four weeks with them probably being spaced out a bit from either extreme end (meaning not terribly soon but not release week either). If they're in the Nintendo Direct, we very well could get zero characters via PotD before release.

Major mechanics changes are out at this point; anything remaining and unannounced we would have noticed in the demo.

We also are still missing a ton of stages; 3DS alone is definitely missing at least 5 starting stages. Those are likely the main reveals of consequence.

We also have game mode talk like clarification on everything we'll have in single player. Sakurai will probably frame this stuff as his remaining big reveals; he's clearly been sitting on most of it waiting until the end to make big reveals. Of course, as the competitive community, this is a lot less interesting to us than characters, stages, and mechanics, but if you're a fan, you can look forward to that though I imagine a lot of this will be saved for the direct.

I've seen this exact style of leak play out several times before; it has no credibility. For one, how could he definitely know Lucas is out but not the entire roster with promotional materials? No one makes a poster saying "we cut Lucas; stay tuned for more info". For two, and honestly more importantly, the guy is posting off a provisional account. It was apparently made almost two years ago, but given that today appears to be the first day he's ever posted, I doubt he puts any value on this account or its credibility. Seeing as it's just "his friend", he has nothing to lose for being "found out" so even the usual logic of a leaker trying to hide his identity doesn't make sense here.

Falco is not very likely to be revealed this week though Falco being shown before release would not be the most shocking thing in the world. Leaks like this are just fishing expeditions hoping to get lucky so you'll really believe whatever else they posted. Don't take the bait.

I don't think Flacos gonna be shown, but I am hoping for a vet this week or next.

If they do show another vet off relatively soon, are we expecting it on a Friday?

My only question is who is the pixelated one.
It has to be another older game. But that's all I know.

Sakurai:"Remember, no matter how big you may be, there is always someone bigger."

Damn it would have been perfect if there was a follow up picture with Ridley's shadow in the background or something.
Can someone photoshop/ms paint Ridley in todays pic?

In regards to the leak mentioned above, the leaker also said that K. Rool would be a boss on a gangplank galleon stage. Serious butthurt if K.Rool gets deconfirmed but a gangplank galleon stage sounds cool. I just hope that we can turn off bosses while keeping the rest of the stages moving platforms and such because the yellow devil ruined the awesome megaman stage.

Does anyone think they should disable grabs when you're out of view on the screen? I'm talking about when there's a small circle showing where you are, and you take damage inside it. It could prevent easy walk-off grab deaths, but I don't know how it would affect the Smash Community.

A leak involving Falco and Mewtwo? This guy's been reading my diary.

And I so didn't think Ridley when I first read the quote today, but after reading your responses, it's such an unnecessary statement in regards to the picture, of which he already made a seperate comment on, that now I feel like the only reason for the line is Ridley.

He couldn't be completely oblivious to all these "big" comments, could he?

To be fair, Sakurai was probably referencing this pic when he was talking about Rosalina's size, he also commented there on how "seriously tall" she is...

I've got it; it's a hint that Ridley isn't the boss on Pyrosphere! :awesome:
Ridley may be big, but "there is always someone bigger."

Logic: The Vorash and Goyagma are connected to the Pyrosphere and are far larger than Ridley (especially Goyagma). Therefore, one of them is the boss, and Ridley is actually playable. :troll:

^ Haha I like that logic.

Yeah I could not help but think of Ridley when reading that. What is Sakurai doing to us!?

BTW Kikwi-Kiwi I like the backgrounds of the confirmed characters in your signature. Took me a minute to notice them.

Not that I think there's actually some meaning behind this. Size being synonymous with Ridley is essentially a Smash-specific thing we fans partake because Rule of Funny. Sakurai could or could not be aware of the joke, but I doubt it matters either way.

Kraid confirmed.
Now that's a size joke that I can get behind!

I really doubt Sakurai's even aware of the situation that's going on. At the very least he knows that Ridley has 'overseas' popularity, but chooses to focus more on balancing the roster and adding new franchises into the fold.
