I have the feeling Sakurai will confirm the rest of the obvious veterans at the E3. Like Wario, Meta Knight, Ice Climbers, etc. I hope we get a lengthy direct from Sakurai just like last time.

I might just be optimistic, but given last week, I would not be surprised to see a hint related picture.
But Sakurai knows that we should reasonably expect filler prior to the Direct, so knowing that we know, he is going to try and do something unpredictable. However, now that we know that he knows that we know, he might adhere to your idea after all. Unless we lower our expectations so that he knows that we know that he knows that we know what he knows.

Dreams being crushed is pretty entertaining, apparently.
It helps determine who won't be in, it removes arguments for characters who were unlikely as is, or it can disconfirm a leak some don't want to believe.
