Ahh, it's the arena from the FE games where you wager gold and stuff. PRetty neat.

(wonder why arenas weren't in Awakening...)

What he SHOULD have shown was a stage hazard

As in Pyrosphere's stage hazard

One would assume it's a Radiant Dawn stage, as iirc it's on the gamecube. I wouldn't know because I never played any of the games, but it's a theory to counter the Awakening stage for the 3ds. Plus RD's Ike look would probably fit. But wondering the stage gimmicks is the other question.

And we got the captions.

From the Fire Emblem wiki:

"The Arena (闘技場, also known as Colosseum) is a building that first appears in Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Tsurugi, changes drastically in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War and reverts to a form similar to that of its original appearance in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. Arenas do not appear in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance or Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, but then come back again in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon; in all, they appear in 10 games. However, they are once again absent in Fire Emblem: Awakening. They are mainly used to train your characters and gain money in the process."

So it's a location that appeared in Marth's games but not Ike's or Awakening. I haven't played any Fire Emblem, but this stage looks incredibly badass. It's about time we got a huge colosseum style stage. The giant dragon statues are just icing

Kinda wished it was Star Fox stage and yet I'm happy it isn't because it must've been Sauria the whole time for Krystal and Sakurai wanted to hold it for E3.

Yeah, I think its a classic Colosseum stage based on the earlier games. Definitely NOT Tellius because Tellius doesn't have arenas.

Actually, adding a Colosseum stage makes sense over a Radiant Dawn stage, because the Colosseum appeared in numerous different games.

Does it look like a walk off? I would love it to be like Arena Ferox on the 3DS and not be a walk-off...
But I like that it is using the variable platform system from Ferox

I assumed Arena Ferox would've counted as an arena stage from the Fire Emblem series.

I guess not. Maybe this WiiU stage is like Castle Siege, a generic stage that represents a recurring scenario from Fire Emblem as a whole. I know every game (I think) has arenas where you can train your units.

"Pic of the day. Here's Ike, Marth and…a brand-new stage!"

I'm taking this as a hint there will be a third rep.

Colosseum?

But they're called arenas in FE...

Much better than the stage we got at the beginning of the week since this is Fire Emblem's first (and possibly only) stage on the Wii U. Also this stage has nothing to do with Ike's games since neither Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn have arenas. Shadow Dragon and a number of other games have arenas though.

I know nothing about FE, but I've done a little research. Apparently, the Colosseum has appeared in multiple FE games, but the only one I noticed that I know came out outside of Japan was Shadow Dragon.

Okay. I'd say it was worth the wait. I'm tired. Good night.

Variable platforms could be interesting. We have so many very large stages with walk-offs and otherwise tame lay-outs; I wonder if there's some gameplay dyanamics that make these stages better than they have been historically (and thus if stages like this, Windy Hill, and Garden of Hope are going to be good stages for legality). For how carefully designed this game is otherwise, I'd honestly be a bit surprised if that wasn't the case.

"We've added a familiar setting from the Fire Emblem series, the Coliseum. In the original game, this place is filled with both hope and despair. There is machinery in the ground that activates variable platforms."
