If anything I find the Uprising enemy we got last week more interesting than the Octorok, we've seen them in Smash before.
The reason people are more ok with it is because Octoroks are a classic. For a lot of people Octoroks are their very first videogame enemy and very first enemy in Zelda. I love Kid Icarus Uprising to death, and Ornes were fantastic, but Kid Icarus Uprising does not have the time to blossom yet.

Well, OCTOROCKS! Also, Sakurai said we can grab the members of the ETLHA while they're doing what they do best.

I think it's interesting that Stalfos are their Ocarina of Time design and Octoroks are their Skyward Sword design. I really hope Redeads are back and that they are their Wind Waker design.
Are you and I the only ones who like the WW ReDeads more that OoT's ReDeads?

While you could grab them when they're hiding, I would think characters with a strong or spamable projectile would find it more efficient to take them out that way.

While I don't mind Smash Run enemy updates, I'd prefer to see more information about the random events in it or the end of the round battles, as likely there is more to it than just fight with your upgraded abilities.

I miss the old octoroks. But nice pic. I guess we can pick up smaller enemies huh? It does explain Charizard eating a Waddle Dee.

I think the cell shaded enemies have the most personality and best designs of the common Zelda enemies overall. The only enemy designs I didn't care for were for the poes (potato sacks with Halloween masks) and the stalfos (if Disney's Goofy was a skeleton). I really like the fact that they're mixing generations with the enemies and I hope they do this with Megaman and Sonic enemies too.

I would love to see the Wind Waker Redeads as well. I know the OoT ones are probably a little more iconic, but I'd love to see a whide variety of Zelda enemies from different kinds of Zelda games make an appearance and I think the Wind Waker Redeads are probably the best enemies for Wind Waker. Either them or the Bokoblins, who have more or less become staple Zelda enemies (at least for the home console Zelda's) since the Wind Waker. The Moblins would be pretty neat too.

Anyway, I'm happy to see the Octorocks back, Would have preffered to see the Minish Cap/Four Swords ones though.

I don't know, I honestly prefer the Oot Redeads. They just looked more frightening to me.

But referring to the Pic of the day. I already know which one I'll hate the most (if you've played Megaman, you'd know just how much of a pain Mets are).

Why on Earth not?!

Also, I wonder what Sakurai means by 'pick up'. You can grab enemies, which you could do in Brawl's SSE, but 'pick up'?
In Melee, certain enemies could be carried in the same manner as a heavy container. I think that's where the "pick up" statement came from.

It's been so long since I played Melee... was it when you tried to Grab them? Neat, I don't Think I ever tried that.

I just remembered that, on rare occations, Redeads, Goombas and Octoroks could appear in Crates in vs battles. But never in Brawl. Aw. I hope that returns.

I'd love to see a mixture of Smash run enemies from LoZ... I'm just a big WW enemy fan.

My ideal combo are the Wizrobes and ReDeads from Wind Waker, and Poes from OoT (If Chandalure doesn't steal their spot for Fire-Ghost.).

Image the hectic chaos... THAT would make a good PoTD.

I wonder what Sonic enemy/mies we'll see. I have not really played any Sonic games. What are the more iconic standard enemies in Sonic?

Yeah, for such small enemies, they're a real pain.

Octoroks... Another enemy returning from Melee that wasn't in Brawl, though this time sporting the design from Skyward Sword.

Nice to see they're not sticking to a particular game when it comes to Zelda. There are Stalfos from Ocarina of Time and Octoroks from Skyward Sword.

Looking forward to what more enemies may exist in this game.

That's a bit of a generalization. Who do you think people on here would get more excited to see, a Mechon or a Goomba?

Speaking of Zelda enemies, I'd like Darknuts from Twilight Princess. Deku scrubs would be cool too.

Agreed. Zelda has a lot of enemies that have taken on different appearances over the years and I hope they have a good sampling of them. Redeads, wizrobes, like-likes, chu-chus, keese, poes, moblins, etc would all make great candidates and nearly all of them have had a major redesign for every major Zelda game so the possibilities are endless.

Such variety too... Sakurai may have to limit how many enemies he ends up putting in, regardless of how big Zelda is. There's just too many really great things to defeat!

perhaps Fobbies/Foppies? maybe some hippies? or how about Starmen?
I'm thinking maybe the Carbon Dog? Maybe even the Spiteful Crow? They would all be great.

I do think Smash Run looks like a ton of fun, and it's a mode I can easily see myself spending a lot of time on. However, it's not exactly exciting PoTD material; we already know the gist of how it works, and there are already *enough* different enemy types that we've seen that more aren't terribly exciting. It's not really a big deal if not every picture is exciting, but this one certainly was not.
I sort of think this is kind of a big deal. At first glance, it's pretty minor, right? Ooh, Octorocs in Smash Run, whoop de doo. But if you think about it, we didn't see those at all in the Direct. They're a new enemy in Smash Run.

To me, that says there may be other possible new enemies in Smash Run as well, and it makes me curious and excited to know what they are and what series they might represent.

This guy needs to be an enemy, pronto.
GOOD GOD NO

Those things scared the crap out of me as a kid. :C

Has a sonic enemy been shown in smash run? seems unlikely that there wouldn't be at least one like megaman.
Also if were talking redead designs then i cast my vote for Twilight princess's

FUN FACT:
The Japanese version of Twilight Princess actually refers to those monsters as Gibdos.

You know, Gibdos?

We still don't know why they changed the name to Redead Knight for the English release.

Hey, those are the Majora's Mask ReDeads!

If New Age Retro Hippie is an enemy in Smash Run, I hope his theme plays.
And then Nintendo gets sued for plagiarizing "Johnny B Goode". :p

Great idea! I always liked Johnny B Goode.

But seriously, I hope that certain music music plays while enemies appear a la Orne or Reaper.

Unfortunately, I don't think Sakurai can post Music to Miiverse.... maybe via private video on youtube?
