She wasn't deconfirmed at E3. Just because she appeared in animation made for the trailer didn't mean she was not playable.

We got an Assist Trophy of a character that many people like, and the announcement of a freaking SMASH-CENTERED DIRECT.

Still no character, but there's the high possibility of getting not one, but maybe even two or three characters in a few days, along with stage and item stuff!

If they are doing an entire direct for a Smash game it has to be huge news. I am guessing a number of veteran reveals, Ridley, a new third party (or Snake), or a combination of those things, along with gameplay footage. Maybe a new FMV trailer.

But now we have Isabelle and most likely Mr. Resetti as assists for AC...

Is Tom Nook seriously playable?

Remember when Peach and Toad were in the intro pick for Rosalina?
And a Rainbow was in the introduction pic for Little Mac?

What if Tom Nook gets confirmed?
I don't know how I'd feel about that...

I always thought Tom Nook had a chance because he looks down at the invitation in the trailer and ponders to himself, implying he might pick it up and join in too. Resetti makes more since as a fighter because of his pick but I can't see them upgrading him from assist trophy. Only other notable AC characters I can think of are K.K. and Tortimer, and I can't see either happening.

I didn't mean so much because of the trailer...
But because of this:

Assist can now show up in official artwork pre-confirmation now I guess.
I thought we had rules.
...
But Sakurai has no rules.
That's why Wii Fit Trainer is playable and Skull Kid, Ashley, Toad, and Starfy aren't
