Second-favorite genre after electronic. Death and black being my favorite sub-genres. Top 5 overall at the moment would be:

Arcturus
Intestine Baalism
Blut aus Nord
Leviathan
Mastodon

Anyone know how to upload playlists on the net? I've seen it done before.

Sonata Arctica is Finnish/melodic metal and the only "metal" I really listen to enough to be called a fan of.

edit : forgot to mention it's my favorite band of all time by a somewhat large margin, only bands coming close being Streetlight Manifesto and The Megas.

Judas Priest? Eww... Not really into that, myself.

Now Dream Theater, I can get behind.
I heard them on GH:WT, and now I love them!

Metal in most of its forms has always appealed to me. Once you shave off the death and black metal, I can get into pretty much any of it. I'm actually a really big fan of the more classic acts like Boston, Kansas, etc.

As previously stated, list needs more dream theater-

Stream of conciousness, panic attack and the Glass prison are all good songs to start with, hell, just listen to the entire Octavarium album to get the gist of them(Although it is pretty different from their old stuff)

I am simply disturbed that anyone would ever call disturbed metal or include them in any list at all for that matter. Also, dethklok actually isn't a band, believe it or not. It's just one guy with instruments, recording equipment, and audio mixers doing it all. He's ok though i guess.

Master Raven, I couldn't agree ANYMORE with you. WHERE IS THE MOTHER****ING king diamond?!

without kreator, metal as you know it today would not exist. Disturbed would probably sound like backstreet boys..oh wait they already do :)

king diamond sways off the mainstream pretty far though, it takes a true metal head to appreciate em!

And yeah, L.O.G.'s new cd is pretty good this year.

Avenged Sevenfold definitely don't sound hard rock to me, last time I heard them anyway at least. It sounds kinda hardcore-ish.
