So, I guess I'll start out by saying that I LOVE this series (almost as much as Zelda), and I figured the Blue Bomber needed his own thread here on SWF! This is among my favorite retro games by FAR. The new ones seem a bit lackluster these days, though. My favorite series is the X series, with X 4 being my favorite. My least favorite series is the Megaman Zero series. I don't know why, it just won't keep me playing for long. My favorite character is Zero. His mysteriousness and awesome better-than-X-ness just hooked me from the start.

Here is a list of all the games

I love the Mega Man series. They're one of my favorites.
Here's what I thought for each series.

Mega Man: Love it. First series, first of the series I played. MM 2 is my fave.
Mega Man X: Really liked X1-3. Never cared about the ones past that. Felt that they were boring.
Mega Man Legends: I love this series dearly. I really want MML3. Inafune promised us, and I'm still waiting.
Mega Man Battle Network: I love 1-3. The story was great, same goes for 6. 4 and 5 only had battles going for it.
Mega Man Zero: I really like how difficult the games were. IMO, they got to easy after each Zero game.
Mega Man ZX: The game was fun. I wish ZX2 did better financially so we could get a 3rd one already.
Mega Man Star Force: I didn't like it as much as the BN series, so I gave up on it.

I love the pokemon aspect Inafune implemented into BN. Starforce was just made to emulate that, IMO. Still haven't played SF3, though. I hope that one is better.

Also, I spent my entire summer of 2006 on Megaman Legends. Actually, I played 64, but whatever. I have Legends 2 but I lost my PSX memory card. How n00bish of me. But I still was REALLY disappointed with the length issues 2 had.

Edit: wait, we were promised a Legends 3?!

He promised that he'd give us Legends 3 one day. He said that he'd definitely do it before he dies.

Ah, Mega Man. My absolute favorite series of anything (gaming, tv, books, movies, etc.)! However, I'll agree that it hasn't exactly been spectaculor for the past 5-10 years. Also, if you don't count remakes, the series hasn't had a console release since 2005 (Rockman X8 in Japan), so it's been reduced to a handheld series. Not that I hate handhelds, but I prefer consoles as looking down on a handheld for long tends to strain my neck.

Continuing Minato's trend...

Classic: I started with this series, and as most with MM2. My current favorite is MM8.

X: I think this might actually be my favorite series as of now. X4 is my favorite X game and favorite of the entire franchise.

Legends: I think this series has great potential, due to the high demand for a sequel. Legends 3 is currently my most wanted sequel, however, I'm highly doubtful that we'll ever get a Legends/DASH 3. I say this because such an epic occurrence is the stuff fantasies are made of.

Battle Network: Awesome series. I'm one of the few to say that BN5 is my favorite of the series. That's fine with me.

Zero: I've had mixed feelings with this series. I loved it at first, then I hated it because I felt that Zero was undeservingly stealing X's spotlight. Now, however, I love it for it's storyline contribution to the main timeline.

ZX: My least favorite branch of the MM tree. I love the music, gameplay and the idea of a female protagonist, but the story and characters just don't appeal to me as much. And I can't elaborate on it any more than this, but something just severely grates on me about having two protagonists with the SAME EXACT abilities and designs. I won't object to a sequel, but it's no major wound to me if we never get a ZX3.

Starforce: I loved the first game, but the second not so much. I just hope things are better with SF3.

My favorite character is usually classic Mega, X, or Voulnutt with the other two as my second and third. I think for now Voulnutt is my favorite.

Mega Man 2. Pretty much the epitome of the Mega Man games. :)

Don't get me wrong, I love the series. I'm just going to say that Mega Man is difficult. Cheaply difficult. The only way you can beat Mega Man is through memorization. :urg:

Nah, while memorization is a big part of it, I disagree.
Having quick reaction time is the biggest factor for me.

I beat Mega Man 9 with only one gameover my first time. Granted, I've been religiously playing MM Classic as a child.

The difficulty of MM9 really surprised me. I was expecting something like 5 or 6 as far as difficulty goes, but we got a Mega Man 2 with every stage having the difficulty and frustration levels of that of Ice Man's stage from MM1. Also, female robot master ftw! Splash Woman has to be one of my favorite RMs just because her stage is pure awesomeness. I must say I like her stage more than Bubble Man's stage. :o

edit @ Minato: Now that is impressive. The only original game I've ever done that with is MM7.

Thanks for, erm, editing the title, TM.

Am I the only person here who didn't think MMX7 was a piece of crap? Just askin'.

No problem. As for X7, I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed the 3D aspects they put into this game. I liked the stage layouts, the boss theme, and the weapons alright. One thing that I didn't like, however, was the half-hearted cel-shading. And Axl's voice. Axl was much much much cooler in Command Mission. Which is another favorite of mine.

I do have to say MM9 is dang hard though. I don't think I could do that well if I tried it again.
I died at one of the Wily stages. I didn't have a Wii at the time so I had to use a... 360 controller. That's what gave me problems.

ZX games were hard for me because of the bosses.

A lot of people seem to love the X series. I don't hate it, but I think I should replay X4 and beyond again.
I do have to say that I'm not that good at the X games. Don't know why.

EDIT: LOL at the new thread title. Poor Clownbot...

The stages are where I always fail in mega man games. I'm pretty good at bosses. Especially in ZX Advent. My least favorite of the PSX X games would have to be X6. It just feels so uninspired.

It seems like it would be easier on a 360 controller. Well, easier than holding the Wii Remote sideways. That's how I play it, lol.

oh mannn, best series is the megaman zero one IMO, and mega man 5 was pretty awesome I've never played 2-4 so I don't about those and 6-8 were pretty dumb... Megaman X 1 was pretty cool didn't really like the others though...

X6 wasn't directed by the series' original director, Kenji Itafune(If I spelled it right).

He dislike the story of X6 so much, he retconned it out of canon.

I only played Mega Man X1 out of the X series.

I played, finished and enjoyed Mega Man 1 and 2, and I am currently playing 3.

I like the X games in order or 3, 4, 2, 6, 1, 5.
I like Mega Man 2 and 3 a lot but not many others. 5 was pretty okay if I recall. For some reason, I just know I hate 4.

If anybody here has never heard of the bad "The Megas" I suggest you look them up. Changed my whole perspective on all the Mega Man 2 bosses.

Yeah it is! And my favorite soundtrack from each series is as follows:

Original: Megaman 2- Just epic

X: Mega Man X Command Mission- Probably my favorite mega man OST of all time. Pretty snazzy battle tunes and reploid themes. Level themes were great, too.

Legends: Legends 2- The tracks just appealed to me a bit more.

Battle Network: BN5- The techno in this game seems to surpass the others.

Zero: MMZ2- Hardest game in the series, and probably my least favorite for all the time I spent trying to get better, but nice soundtrack nonetheless.

Starforce: Starforce 1. The other two are just remixed versions of tunes from the first.

ZX: MMZX: Advent. Mainly because I've never played the first.

I suggest you all do the same. Glory to The Rebellion Mega Man Music!

Mega man 2 was bad *** for the NES!!! you know what? I they should put mega man in smash since he originated on the original nintendo console... and mega man x 1 was also bad *** didn't care for the rest...

the mega man zero series was my favorite, even though I prefer X, but I guess a saber just doesn't suit X...

If my Playstation would have never broke I would have gotten to play MegaMan X5. I've never played X5 and have only seen it once. It looked fun. The only one I've ever beaten was X4.

I've gotten to Sigma in X1, X2 and X3 and can't beat him. Sigma is my all time hardest boss I guess. Dr. Doppler in X3 was easy as cake. I beat him on my first try.

X5 is probably the best one on the PSX. If you liked X4, you might not like this one as much, but you'll like it a WHOLE lot better than X6, which, IMO is the second worst in the X series, right under X7. X7 with its stupid X and his constant "we shouldn't be fighting" crap was really getting on my nerves  . Axl sounded like an 8 year-old and Zero was dumb. Worst crap ever. X8 was slightly better, but with dumb bosses (not as dumb as X7) and better graphics and sound, but was entirely too short due to lack of difficulty. On the other hand, the stages in X7 seem a lot more inspired than the ones in X8, the only one in X8 that is truly inventive being the one where you ride the jet bike. The only X game I truly enjoyed on the PS2 was X Command Mission, which is still a better game when played with the gamecube controller.

X4 had to be my least favorite out of all of them... I don't understand why people like that one so much, X sounds like a little kid, and when he's wall jumping it sounds like he's saying "poop" and Zero's voice sounds a bit odd also... and Mega man Zero 2 didn't seem very hard at all... Zero 1 was pretty difficult though.

4 was the easiest of the classics, so that might be why. I mean, that Dr. Cossack Boss fight was just fail. and the final Wily fights were a pain until you used the right weapon, then it was a cakewalk(but at least it was tougher then the last fight in MM3.)

Only with the Top Spin. Search Snake you at least have to attack him more. Capcom probably thought that nobody would use Top Spin because they never used it for anyhing else except Shadowman.

MM3 is my fave, Rush Jet is so epic compared to item 2 :bee:
Overall though, MM2 and MM3 were the best. So fun and no master bots like Dust Man or Charge Man. My fave master bot is Snakeman, because he has epic music and is cool. Metal Man was pretty awesome, too. Just don't like Heatman though .

The thread looks old, but I'll try anyway...

First off, let me start by saying how AWESOME the mega man series and all the derivatives are. X is by far my favorite (love the level design, the powers, and zero's abnormally large head at the beginning stage), but I must say that the series really died around X5. Megaman Zero 1-4 were pretty good, and the NES series is classic, but nothing will beat X.

Also, storm tornado > meta knight's tornado

Megaman is my favorite video gaming series ever. I started with X1(My first game ever for the SNES) and I made it to Sigma when I was 6(couldn't beat him lol) and I would constantly rent X2 but i never got far in that one(I made it to Wheel gator but he killed me). I also played X4(didn't like it as a kid but now it's grown on me), X5(Love this game with a passion), Megaman 8(Love it too). In total I have

Classic: Megaman Anniversary Collection, Megaman and Bass, Megaman Powered up, Megaman and Bass

X: X1, X4, X5, X Collection, X7, X8, Megaman Maverick Hunter X

Zero: Zero 2, Zero 3, Zero 4, Zero Collection

ZX: ZX, ZX Advent

Battle Network, Battle Network 1, 2, 3, 4 Red sun, 5 Protoman and colonel, 6 Falzar(I lost gregar :( )

Starforce: Starforce 1 Pegasus, Starforce 2 Ninja, Starforce 3 Black Ace.

Of all those games I've beaten every one of them multiple times and I can honestly say no Megaman game gives me difficulty anymore(But that doesn't mean i'm a pro, that I can beat a game without taking a hit the whole game, i've tried on X1 and I could only make it through chill penguin and Flame mammoth and then i got hit :( ) If I had to rank series I would rank them X > Classic > Zero > BN >=/< ZX > Starforce. Unfortunately I have never played Megaman Legends :( Also I've beaten Xtreme and Xtreme2 but they were emulators since I can't find the games D: and I beat Megaman 2 for the GBC, Megaman 3 for the GBC is currently the only Megaman game in the entire franchise that i've ever played and haven't beaten to this day(I only played it for like 10 minutes lol)

My top 10 megaman games are

1. Megaman X(Favorite X game, Favorite Megaman game, Favorite game of all time <3 )
2. Megaman X5
3. Megaman 8
4. Megaman X2
5. Megaman 7
6. Megaman 9
7. Megaman Zero 3
8. Megaman 10
9. Megaman Zero
10. Megaman ZXA
