Of course, several people at SEGA said the same thing about Sonic, right up until the announcement...

The again, when Sonic was announced there really was more time.

I doubt hell be in now, however, it seems Sakurai wants 3 third partys, and Pac-man and Bomberman wouldnt work too well.

Who else is there? Megaman, so maybe Sakurai will ask, well have to wait and see.

Pretty much.

I mean, either this podcast was old and just uploaded recently, or Sakurai has a poor gauge of time. I would hardly consider just a lil bit more than a month before the JP release "a couple of months left".

Besides, like some one else said, this was pretty much exactly the same thing that happened with Sonic a matter of months ago. Not to mention that Rockman himself was a pretty noted request on the JP poll.

Smash Bros. X. The drama behind this one game could probably be enough to be conveyed in a CBS mini-series.
You made up that Sonic thing because you're in denial.

first off, is this a reliable source?... I've never heard of this site...

second, why the hell would Sakurai pass up the chance to have Megaman, a character with 9 times more history with Nintendo than Sonic and Snake combined, in Brawl? thats right, he wouldn't. so I don't buy this for a second...

third, this is old. they could have asked since then.

and Zorya, Ray mk III has no relation to Megaman at all, so I don't see how your statement has anything to do with this...

There aare a lot of weirdoes who think that if both Mega and Ray were in, one would be the clone of the other or something...

And apparently, Sega pulled similar stunts before Sonic was announced, so don't bother burying Mega Man until the game comes out.

Because, you know, Mega Man uses pods and boosters and everything. I forgot that Mega Man has a tackle attack too. Yep, Ray Mk III and Mega Man are quite the same (and if they add something from Custom Robo, it'll probably be the first Ray series unit).

Because in Sakurai's poll, Megaman was near the bottom of the top 15 list of voted characters, and Geno ( a Square Enix character) was voted the highest 3rd Party character next to Sonic? Holding as many mentions as DeDeDe?

im not believing this...i remember when they talked about sonic getting in brawl. this was their response: "that's not on the cards at this moment." and if megaman doesnt get in, then i want a good 3rd party candidate!

poll
–noun
1.a sampling or collection of opinions on a subject, taken from either a selected or a random group of persons, as for the purpose of analysis.

Now, what did Sakurai do again? Oh yeah, he got a collection of opinions on a subject (Characters that should be in Brawl), and asked a group of people (Japan) to submit their opinions on the subject, and he did so for the purpose of analysis of what kind of things Smash Bros fans wanted in Brawl

However, I will remind the court that it was said by a SEGA rep that Sonic in Brawl was "just not in the cards at the moment" as well as the fact that we have no clue when this was recorded.

I DON'T THINK THIS PROVES ANYTHING!

He didn't present the results, and he didn't give options to choose from. He didn't use it like a poll should be used. He also didn't analyze it. He just picked ones that were interesting to him. That's not analysis. This really doesn't have anything to do with the topic at hand though.

You're using what you consider a poll, however the true definition of a a poll is any mass collection of opinions on a matter for the purpose of analysis

Sakurai takes a poll and asks the Japanese people what characters they would like to be in Brawl, among them are a few 3rd Party characters. At the top of the list? Geno. Near the bottom? Megaman.

HMMMMMM, if I'm Sakurai and I say "Golly gee, I have this one 3rd Party slot left after Sonic and Snake, let's see what the Japanese people think", and your results show Geno at the top and Megaman, although still mentioned, lower than Geno...aren't you gonna choose the one at the top?

This is emphasized by the fact that, 3 months to release at the earliest, Inafune states that he has not been contacted for Megaman to be in Brawl.

He showed interest in Geno four times. That doesn't mean that Geno was the most requested. The only way you'd know that, is if Sakurai presented the results somehow or gave you the raw data.

It's also not my definition. It's the statistical definition. If you looked up theory in the dictionary, it wouldn't have the same definition that scientists use when they use the word.

Can we do this over pms or something? We keep spamming up boards with unrelated arguments.

Megaman was very likely to be in Brawl, and he'd certainly be a great character addition, I wouldn't think for a second that Megamans were crazy for thinking he'd be in it, he certainly had great chances

But, I just think that this is the sort of thing we need to actually accept and see that Megaman probably isn't happening, so just move on and hope for like...Isaac, or Geno, or Takamaru

And yes, Cless, that is what you choose to consider a poll: a ballad with votes and tallied numbers, etc. However, that is not a be-all-end-all idea of what is considered a poll, what Sakurai did was he took a poll, that's the end of it

http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=71872

Like I said: "Sakurai's Poll". No matter if you don't consider it one, the Smash community and the Dictionary definition consider it a Poll

That was SEGA of europe, why the hell would they even know if hes in or not. They wouldn't. This was the creator of Megaman who said it. Not to mention "Not on our cards at the moment" is different from saying hes not in.
