Exactly. For all the people who think that it's just deluded to think that Mega Man may yet be in Brawl... why wouldn't he just give a straight up no? It's not as if he doesn't know that they can't add Mega Man in one month. What's his motivation other than to **** with Smash Bros fans?Sheesh, if Megaman's deconfirmations is THIS complete, why didn't Kenji just flat-out say "no" about it?
On what basis do you make that statement? On the basis of we all know Keiji Inafune is an honest man who never lies? On the basis of, video game companies are never misleading?Yes, it's possible Inafune lied. Likely? No.
I'm not saying he did lie (cuz I can't know that), but I don't believe you have any basis to assess the likelihood of that either way. But you really have no reason to say that Inafune would not lie. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. It's plausible either way.
And as we all know, the only reason someone would have to say "no comment" is if there was something to comment on. So basically, he wouldn't say your example. Because of that, the only way to avoid a question like that is to give an answer that makes it sound like "no" or "I wouldn't know in the first place". He's not going to leave it at "no comment" if Mega Man's in the game. How about something like "Well, that would be quite a nice surprise, wouldn't it? But there isn't much I can comment on". That's just one example I made up.
How would that be an elaborate lie? It's not like some big story he cooked up to tell us. It's not like he convinced a bunch of other people to do a song and dance to convince us. It's actually a pretty simple lie. There really isn't any loopholes that you can reasonably expect people to buy. It's unbelievable how people are saying things like "Maybe he meant that HE contacted THEM". I mean, give me a break. There's little chance that he would lie this elaborately.
It's a blow to his chances, sure. But it's definitely not inconsistent with the sorts of things they'd be saying if Mega Man was in Brawl and they were still keeping it under wraps. Which means that it doesn't really tell us that much, because if he was in Brawl, this is the sort of thing they'd be saying, and if he wasn't in Brawl, this also might be something they'd say. This was a HUGE blow to his chances, yet people are trying to delude themselves that it means absolutely nothing, or in some cases makes him more likely.
Saying that they'd say "No comment" is just silly. They're not going to say that because that's making it obvious.
So, we'll just have to wait and see.
