Hey guyz. Im gonna be entering my 1st tournament in like 1-2 weeks from now. Among my friends, I'm probably the best (were all n00bs =P), however I never actually went OR even saw a real tournament. In short, it's my first time playing Brawl competitively. Any tips for this n00b willing to do whatever it takes to reach the top? =]

PS. What would you guyz recommend as good Marth strats and ATs? And suggestions vs Links and Toon Links would be appreciated :)

First off, welcome to smashboards

Second, read the stickies?

Third, Marth barely has any AT's...pretty much all of which are generic to everyone.

Fourth, practice and watch videos if you want to get better. But do not practice against computers.

Good luck though =]

P.S. READ STICKIES

Hm, yeah marth lacks AT's...Against Link/TL you need to avoid projectiles... a good technique is to downthrow and then immediately f-smash, it puts decent damage on them, and can help to set them up for some f-air spam. It's really all about reading your opponents moves and out ranging them, since marth can still do that to a great extent.

A nice tactic is to play defensively, keep short hopping and spamming f-air in place, back up a bit, wait to see how they react to it, as long as you stay close to the ground and don't f-smash by accident you should be ready for whatever comes at you, learning how to turn around while jumping off the side without losing your forward DI is nice, since his spike is much easier to land when he is not facing his opponent.

Directly above you tipping a dair.
Ok, to pick up where HolyKnight left off, DONT TRY TO SPIKE LINK OR TL. Its not safe and u will eat an up B to the face. When u get them offstage, use bairs or fairs to kill them. If youre fighting TL then use bair but be sure to be in front but a little below toon link so his fair and dair wont hit u. Abuse up B out of shield to get u out of chaingrabs and jab combos.

My advice?

Pick a S rank character or do a ton of friendlies before the actual tourney.

Also, TL is usually easy pickings with Marth. You know the L/R buttons? They're pretty cool.

Hehe thanks guyz :] And yeah I learned the "not spiking Link" the hard way -__- Well, its almost impossible for me to train without using CPUs cuz I hav no wifi connection and my sis only uses Kirby (decent, but subpar). And yeah, thanks again =]

Another problem. How to deal with ROBs? The gyro thingie is the worst -__-

VietGeek: I wouldnt really consider 6:4 being easy pickings, its just a slight advantage. Marth vs TL is almost even imo.
