As I......... until the Wiimote+Nunchuck combo existed. No going back. Easily access every button with very little effort, while having the fluidity of not keeping both of your hands in the same locked position. Priceless!!
I also use the Mote+Chuck, with A as Jump, B as Attack, Z as Special and C as shield.
Works wonders.

As I have been playing without a c stick, I actually find it difficult to fast fall, and can easily down air and spike opponents. I don't know if fast fall requires double down, but I don't seem to ever fast fall.
You have to tap down on the control stick a soon as you reach the peak of your jump. Let me give a character example. You're Marth and you want to do retreating F-Airs on your opponent so you can keep good spacing, can't do that w/o the C-stick. You're Mario and you want to do a short hop fast fall U-air, you can't without the C-Stick. Want to WoP (Wall of Pain) with Jigglypuff? Much more effective w/ the C-stick. The C-Stick in general makes aerial movement and combat MUCH easier. C-Stick also has other uses like DACUS (Dash Attack Canceled Up Smash) in Brawl, and B-Sticking in Brawl which has the player mapping their special attacks to the C-Stick (usually Lucas players do this).

Hmm. I use c stick for the sake of it being easier for me but I also like to challenge myself and not use it. I also practice without it.

Now, now..........

Down on the D-pad for jump. The tip of your thumb presses it, the middle joint of yout thumb presses A for attack, B is for Smash.

C = grab, Z = shield. Left & Right on the d-pad for grab, Up on the d-pad for Up Smash.

You can jump and attack/smash/block at the same time without moving your fingers around. Directional Input at ease. That is helpful. It may sound weird, but it's so natural that I can't see myself using any other method. RECOMMENDED.

This sucks if true.

I didn't use the c-stick primarily for smashes (even though c-stick smashes are very useful). It allowed a fantastic amount of aerial movement while I was able to throw out any aerial I want. It even allowed unorthodox movement techniques like DACUS, and it helped with SDI. It's an extra control option that gave Smash much more depth.

A example in Melee... try to play Captain Falcon, short hop with X/Y, fast fall as soon as possible by flicking the control stick down while moving in any direction you please, and then throw out an up-air with the c-stick just as you're about to land. You could probably 2 of those entire sequences within a second if done correctly. Things like that are going to be extremely rough without a c-stick.

But apart from that, another example would be to to play as Marth, short hop backwards while throwing out forward aerials. How is that going to be possible if the main stick is occupied with you holding backwards? The c-stick gave you a choice to use any aerial you wanted, while you had free control of your characters movement in the air, and that in itself allowed for such creativity in how you use your moveset (just look at how often Fox/Falco players in Melee approach forward with back-air--it's seriously one of the most useful things in Smash to ever exist).

Well, there's always Smash Wii U at least!

Not so much the rumble as pure Melee fanservice that's unnecessary on a freaking handheld.

That and rumble on a console with a small screen screams uncomfortable to use for a game like Smash.
How is it Melee fanservice when a large number of Brawl players use the GC controller? Besides, give it the 3ds button layout and you'd have what the CPP should've been.
Yeah, honesty I wonder why people are so obsessed with the GC controller.
Most people aren't obsessed with it, they just like it. There's a difference. For many people, it's their favorite controller.

I wouldn't mind an accessory with controller grips, 2 control sticks, a d-pad, 4 shoulder buttons, and 4 face buttons. It'd be comfortable and mitigate wear on my 3ds.

I know not exactly 'obsessed', but honestly, some act like smash is unplayable without a GC controller.

It'd be nice, but I don't see Nintendo dumping anymore money into this game to make a device just for the 3ds smash. There's gamecube adapter for the wii u, so I'm happy.

Because it's being made with GC users in mind. GC users that more likely than not hail from Melee.

It sucks there is no stick but nothing you can do about it. I don't plan on playing the 3ds extra serious due to controls.

This was one of my biggest worries with the 3ds version. I guess I'll just have to adapt.

I would be disappointed with no ccp support, but at least it would be even across the board. NO ONE can c-stick, which means that we would return to a control scheme very much like smash 64. I love that game and I can live with that. I feel no c stick really inhibits strong aerial spacing and using arials in general.

Having this difference will definitely affect which characters perform better on the different systems, which is exciting for me. Hopefully unique tier lists would be created for each respective game.

I'm worried about the length of time I'll be able to play on my 3ds at a time, as games like kid Icarus really wear out my hands quick.

I had never thought about the different control schemes making the two consoles have different tiers. That would be kind of neat.

And I think Kid Icarus wore everybody's hands out.

Yeah I can't imagine the tier lists being extremely different but I think certain characters might perform better or worse depending on their reliance on moving aerial attacks.

I disagree about the Kid Icarus part, that game plays better with the bottom screen than a second joystick.
Maybe just because I'm left handed, though I think that will be neat that there will be 2 different tiers.

I'd want it, but honestly not buy it. I don't see the point in it. The only reason I'd get it is for a cool Smash Bros. design.

Of course for Smash Attacks or for other options like throwing and dodging, But Circle Pad Pro wasn't a very big success so do you think it may make it in? I would think they would have mentioned by now but... Oh well.

What is that called?
3DS Grip, I have it. It's beautiful. It even carries your games on the back. (My brand does anyway, It will probably be a handicap for Smash Bros.)

Hmm I might get me one anytime soon but first I need something for my L trigger cause it seems as it's not responding to when I click it sometimes which is kinda a problem. Especially for a game like KI:U where I need the L trigger to shoot.

Smash 3DS does need it and should get it. I'm also kinda hoping for an exclusive smash designed CPP.

If Nintendo wants me to throw more money at them, then they'll do it.

Well I have a protect case around my 3ds xl so adding a second circle pad will be anniying to me, but I still think it is a good idea.

Such an accessory would need to have at least three if not all four face buttons so that Smash could be playable using it. This wouldn't be impossible, but it'd add so much bulk to the system, and I can't see it not looking ridiculous.

My next problem with this has to do with the centering of the system. When I am playing a handheld, I like for the screen to be an even distance between each of my hands. The CPP would eliminate that. It's made even worse by the fact that I am one of the few people who actually plays with the 3D on, so it's actually necessary for me to get a centered view of the screen, and rumble is out of the question.

I wouldn't mind if they made it, but I wouldn't use it, and I doubt they will do so.
