I will be there. I can play Ike now, but I have returned home. GANONDORF is my main again. Took me awhile to get used to him, but I think I have it.
Hell yes! This tournament is going to rule. Man, I don't want to wait a month. Oh well, Finals are in three weeks anyways... *sugh*

After attending Gigabits' huge Brawl tourney this weekend and Seibrik's last weekend, I wanted to point out a few things I'll be doing at mine to avoid any unpleasantness.

Space: If you came to Season 1, or were able to see Hiroshi's video of the venue you'll know that there's a lot of open space available. It has one main large room, and two smaller wreck rooms in the back. There's lots of chairs (both Lay-Z Boy type & standard table kind) and a couple sofas.

Hotness & BO: There are 4 ceiling fans in the main room, and another one over the kitchen area where registration is. There's also a ceiling fan in each of the back rooms. AC works fine as well and if it gets down to it, there's two pools to take a dip in. There's 4 shower stalls, so anyone crashing should be able to freshen up.

Timelines: I came up with a new method that should eliminate a lot of the waiting for brackets. The singles registration will end 1 hour after the Teams tourney has started. While teams is happening, I will release the list of pools in singles which people fall into. This way people don't have to wait until teams ends to start on their pool matches, they can just do some while they do friendlies. Even once teams is through and some of the pools are still ongoing, we won't have to wait for Brackets. They will be created using variables such as "2A" for top seed of pool 2 or "6D" for 4th seed of pool 6. As those positions are determined, they will be plugged into the singles bracket so people can actually do bracket matches while pools are still finishing. of course, the bracket will also be blank/disguised to ensure that people don't conspire to make a certain seed in their pool to position themselves to a point in the bracket. This would be done for both the Melee & Brawl tourneys so that we have time to do extra stuff like Crew Battles, Randoms, or Low Tiers.

dude manko if you get 100 people just dont do pools. its just not mathematically sensible. if you're running all the pools at once (i.e. 1 pool per tv), having more than 6-8 in a pool is murder

yeah, its murder to wait around for them to finish. Although if we start pools before teams is even done (when people just friendly for an hour and a half) and aren't required to have finished pools before starting the bracket matches, I imagine it would move extremely quick.

werd dude you cant make 100 man pools move quick unless youve got 20 set-ups. the stuff you said will definitely save time, but we need a lunch break yo.

i never understood the need for pools anyways. pools is for multi-day, nation-wide tournaments like FC where your numeric placing actually matters (for bragging rights). for smaller tournaments, the only thing that "matters" is who wins money. and pools dont affect that

plus i like watching teams finals

well my roommate gets an employee discount from his pizza place which will provide us with pizza at $1 a slice and I'll have free sodas/water available as well. Technically, there's no need to leave the venue at all unless of course you don't want pizza. In which case there's several places near by.

While teams is still going on, it's not vital that people finish their pool matches. It's just a way to get ahead. If people want to watch teams or eat, they can wait to do their match. It's only when teams is done that we'll actually divide the pools to TVs, until then it's find & play like a friendly is.

In any case, if it turns out that by the end of teams very little progress has been made in pools, I can just axe it and go into Bracket mode. We wouldn't have lost any time either since we'd normally wait till then to start singles anyway. Although I know a lot of people would prefer to have them, and if doing this method allows it, I'd like to try.

Be careful there man. You don't want to be on the interstate when your car dies. If you don't think your car can make it, maybe you shouldn't come.

I vote for Teams Pools, and 15 people per pool, no air conditioning, Final destination.

Mankosuki you should consider having Singles on Saturday and Doubles on Sunday.

Because lots of people can only come saturday, and also lots of people like singles more.

Manko would it be okay if we brought alcohol for partying at night?
rofl just bring a bottle in ur bag and be descrete or something......

joe has to make sure the venue stays emaculate so he can get his deposite back, so he prob doesnt want u getting rowdy or anything....just drink on the dl like i do

btw i had mad brew between doubles and singles at gigs, so if you lost to abes wario u lost to someone who wasnt sober =)

Yeah, Abe's right about me needing the place to look good for my $200 back. I was also specifically told that no alcohol is allowed there. So if anyone wants to drink, we'll have to take it into my apartment or something. Of course anything that happens without my knowledge...

Anger: Ganon looks to be the worst character in the game IMO. I know how you feel though, I don't like Brawl's version of Samus either. :(

Rx- : I'm splitting the days by game, so I can't really split singles/doubles as well.

Zoro: you better fix your car before then! >_<

so does anyone else have any thoughts on the pools/brackets system, or is derf the only one who cares?

since seibrik/gigs decided to schedule against you and because its summer, i think you'll have a manageable # of participants even for brawl. you could just run the pools like regular. just cap them at 6-7 people per pool

My performance may be affected by my recent injury. I cut the index and middle fingers of my left hand. I had to go to the ER and get seven stitches. Hopefully I will be able to play to my fullest by this time, but who knows. If you guys want a picture, I can post a couple.
