wouldn't say what they have is pure cel shading but w/e I think they are taking the correct direction.

HYPE

tp graphics sucked.... unless you are a fan of only brown and green.

I like the new art style but i reckon it will influence/be influenced by the mood of the story
Which is good.

I don't appreciate this comment.

I agree with escro and that's a good observation.
It is good when the mood and the story is reflected in the graphics, that is to me what really matters about graphics. Not how good they are, but if they bolster the other aspects of the game (namely mood and story)

That's also why I liked TP Graphics because for me they captured the mood in a lot of different places and the game seemed more serious to me then other Zelda games and I feel it is because of this. Also everything in the Ice Dungeon and Time Dungeon and everything related to the twilight realm looked sick.

yeah, i think the new graphics will be appropriate to the new game so a comparison betwen the two without much info on the new one would be wrong to do.

HOWEVER, just looking at the art style alone without considering anything else, i too like the TP one better.

i personally found TP's mood and world a little unimaginative and too OOT-esque. i guess that's fine enough for all the OOT fans etc, but i found WW's art direction a lot fresher, more expressive more creative. i'm hoping nintendo just does what they want to with SS and not just follow the lead of the fans, because then they'll just keep on making the same crap like they always do.

I always liked MM more than OoT but I still loved TP.
I know it copied many ideas but the new concepts were more focused on.
Perhaps I'm just more easy to satisfy, but the new characters (Midna, Yetis, Zant) and the Dog gameplay were enjoyable for me. There was so much that was different, I just don't get why people dislike TP because it's similair to OoT, and I don't think it's something I'll ever understand. Oh well.

WW art-style suited it perfectly. It is one of the best nintendo graphics decisions ever, 2nd only to perhaps the decision to make Yoshis Island graphics look like chalk, rather than 3-D sprites.

This conversation reminds me... I should really get around to playing SOTC. It's all setup next to me... I just haven't been able to turn it on yet...

cao shares my thoughts exactly.

OOT / MM were both amazing games. I feel like TP was a poor attempt at recreating the effect OoT had, so a lot of it felt forced and a little boring. WW was another amazing game and it was refreshing because it was different from the two before it, and even the gameplay had a few new ideas with it. I think SS looks nice visually, just hope the gameplay and characters etc are as creative as they could be. Don't want another OoT clone.

Why are you always right cao?

Splice I generally agree with you and I agree that the style was called for by the mood of the game. Even so, I felt it too much at times. All the fields look the same, for example, and other areas such as ordon village, zora's river and so on also look more or less the same but with different quantities of water. There ARE decent-looking sections of course (palace of twilight, goron mines, gerudo desert, etc.) but imo it was blighted by much of the game looking very samey, it is very hard for me to think of an area that didn't look like much of the rest of the game. "Realistic" doesn't have to mean "everything looks bland and reused". So yes the graphics should suit the style of the game but that isn't all there is to it imo.

Also I feel obligated to say that I kinda prefer SS graphics at this point, I am sure they will suit the tone of the game (zelda is generally good about this) but that aside I feel they just look nicer.

I'm gonna have to go with TP style graphics, but not nessaccarily exactly like TP style graphics, (which was generally dark) I'd just prefer a more realistic type of graphics. (even OOT style is fine)

I actually like the graphics more for TP than I do SS, despite being built for the Gamecube. Considering that the Wii is roughly 1.5x more powerful than the GC and the Wii being at the end of its life cycle, (which generally means games will look better than launch games, look at Uncharted 1 compared to Uncharted 3) I think Nintendo would of been able to pull off some nice visuals with a non cell shaded look.

That being all said, I'm sure when I play SS at home, I won't have a problem with it.

It's pretty interesting seeing that artwork now. It's still got the impressionist style of the Skyward Sword we know, but with a darker tone.

Anyhow, the game is looking amazing as it is. I kinda dismissed the visuals when the game was first revealed, but it has really grown on me after seeing more footage.

If skyward sword had these type of graphics it would seriously be amazing:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qz-OTbThTf8

btw no spoilers in that video. It's just skyward sword link jumping on his bird. Not game play footage or footage from the actual game either.
That's such a boring trailer. :p I'm not a big fan of the CGI look either; I find the in-game graphics much more interesting (although maybe that has something to do with actually seeing more than just clouds in other gameplay videos, haha).

**** this game is going to be amazing.

I will be finish with my last exam before then. Will be finish with year 12 forever. I will basically just be playing it all day every day with one hour breaks to eat something. + going to gym.

Also another question for people to answer.

Would you have preferred skyward sword to be on the WII U? Just pretend they never mentioned it coming to the wii and it would come to the wii u as a release game? Would you have preferred it in juicy HD graphics with the Wii U controller? Or are you like me and don't care and just want it released already and think it coming out on wii with wii motion plus is good enough?

imho i have no freaking idea how i will be playing SS even on the wii motion plus as i have utter horrible ways of holding and using the wiichuck cuz of my disability so thank god it came out on wii not wii U. that wii U controller looks bloody hard to hold and use so if another zelda game comes out on wii U ill need a modded gc controller to play it or something.
hopefully something like that will exist by then.

btw yay for gamecube twilight princess! no wiichuck for me
(i intened to play this after i get a wii)

also hi five alzi for finishing yr 12 by then
fuu exams are hard
