Oh man...it's a general Direct, so I feel we're only getting one newcomer, maybe with an echo tops. Still, I expect that it'll be someone well known to the general populace rather than a Smash specific character...

Like a new third party, or Pokémon...or masked imp...

And Isaac. That "leak" also claimed that the Direct would be 27 minutes though, and this is longer.

Now, if it means anything to anyone, LoZ18 thought we'd be getting one tomorrow and was hinting at Skull Kid, but I just don't know how to feel about him anymore.

Honestly I feel like the best we can hope for is that Skull Kid doesn't show up at all in the Direct tomorrow. I don't think they'll reveal a crazy hype requested newcomer so soon after K. Rool and Simon. I think if a non-Echo newcomer is revealed it will be a Gen 7 Pokémon (likely Incineroar). Let's hope Skull Kid survives this Direct! If he isn't not deconfirmed here I'll say he has very good chances.

I almost feel like it might be the reverse. Sakurai teased K. Rool in the Direct preceding his reveal with the rope ladder and barrel (etc). So it would follow this Direct following the chairs and furniture hints would be Skull Kid's moment. Also, this segment is supposedly focusing on Smash's online features whereas a prospective Halloween feature would focus on Spirits Mode, or whatever else this boss mode is, where Skull Kid would logically be best introduced as a boss. I'd almost see tomorrow as less risky than an October reveal.

I'm pretty sure he actually settled on four days from Sunday, which will be tomorrow.

I originally was hoping that Skull Kid skipped this Direct entirely because I thought a non-Pokémon, non-Echo newcomer would be unlikely so soon after the last bombshell Direct... but you make a point. Obviously Skull Kid being revealed tomorrow as a unique newcomer would be ideal but I rather have him be revealed later as a fighter than now as a boss... now I'm not so sure there's a correlation between those two things.

Is October considered a "spooky" or spiritual time in Japan btw? Do they even celebrate Halloween over there? We might be assuming that Skull Kid has the best chance to be revealed in October with no evidence but an American point of view...

If Skull Kid gets announced tomorrow, I can't see any other character being announced alongside him other than Impa. Of course, I'd love to be proven wrong, haha. I want to see tons of characters, whether they're Echoes or not.

Skull Kid is my second most wanted, though I have never commented in this thread I just want to wish everyone good luck and good vibes for tomorrow's direct, to be fair I believe the two with the highest chance based on the hints so far (assuming they do mean something) are Skull Kid because of the setting of the last direct (again, the settings are planned for directs so I think it speaks volumes for Skull Kid) not to mention spectacular timing with the 3ds remake, the villains & heroes theme and the moon being introduced as AT. The other one being Isaac due to the Golden Sun at the end of the reveal trailer and the suspicious twit from Sakurai. So here is me hoping the best for us and that fate isn't terrible for Skull Kid this time around. If the Sun/Moon reveal does come I would not ask anything else ever tbh!
