Even in a year with so many great new releases, revisiting old classics is always worth the time. Nintendo certainly seems to know that, given their recent announcement that Mario Party 3 will be available for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members around the world on October 27th.
Originally released in Japan in 2000 and internationally a year later, Mario Party 3 was the final game in the series released on the Nintendo 64. Like with the first game in the Mario Party series (which got its first re-release ever last year via NSO), Mario Party 3 has never received a re-release until now. It was the first Mario Party game to star (pun fully intended) an original character as host: The mysterious Millennium Star.
Party all night long in Mario Party 3! Punch, pound, and stampede right over your opponents in a multiplayer melee or go head-to-head in two-player duel mode!

Mario Party 3 is perhaps best remembered for its unique duel boards, which allowed players to go one-on-one in a 2-player tailored remix of the Mario Party experience. It also boasts 71 original minigames including such fondly remembered examples as Awful Tower, Cosmic Coaster, Eatsa Pizza, and Picture Imperfect.
Author’s Note: What do you think of Mario Party 3? Will you be playing it on the Switch? Do you think the duel boards should make a return? Which of its boards is your favorite (and why is it Waluigi’s Island)? Let us know in the comments below.
