Was all the mango hype worth it? Genesis 2 was supposed to be mangos time to retake his throne and tryhard. But from what i could tell tryhard mango is just a over aggro space animal. In the long run mango didnt even win. Sure he ***** alot of people. But if mango plays like that at another tourney im almost 100% sure he will get *****. Because Overly Aggro player is really easy to dispatch and especially if they make as many mistakes as mango did.

Lol, seriously? :troll: much?

Yeah, Mang0 might do better if he played less aggressively. The fact of the matter is that, for now, Mang0 is so much better than his opponents (except for maybe 5-10 of them, namely Armada) that he can basically play however he'd like to. Mang0 clearly dictates the flow of every match he's in.

Besides, he knows playing as aggressively as he does has its flaws, he just doesn't give a ****

Mango was just in the zone. nothing more. Back in the last Apex Mango said he will use his sheik at the next Apex (2012). so don't worry, you wont be disappointed about his performance at the next tourney.

I am far from being a Mango fan boy. But this is without a doubt the dumbest thing I've ever read on smashboards, and I hope your just trying to get a rise out of people.

Maybe I'll start playing fox aggressively now, so I can be trash and get second at genesis all at the same time.

He's playing the game he wants to play he doesn't care if he wins or loses he's just showing he loves to be aggressive and that it still can work and you don't have to play campy.

really he could have easily beaten armada if he wanted to he just wouldn't have fun doing it.

he plays the game to have fun not to always win but to have fun while he tries to win.

His Fox was obviously influenced by Dark, he was playing more technical than I've seen from Jman or Lucky or even M2K. He has the tools, but he needs to get a better sense of what does and doesn't work against his competition (ie. Armada, healthy Dr. PP). If he keeps working at it he'll beat Armada at Apex 2012.

Like I said before the tournament, I don't think you can just flip the switch from bull****ting to trying and suddenly you play the best you've ever played, and I think Mango just proved that.

HomeStylePie is dumb makoforce is dumb, if he wanted to beat Armada he would have gone Puff. fact is mango CAN turn on that switch and play like a God, and he did. That was the cleanest Fox I have ever seen. Revolutionary. I would have jacked it to those sets if I were that kind of disgusting person. His falco is also the coolest **** to watch ever.

Just because over-aggressiveness is not the key to winning does not mean it is not the key to Melee. Melee needs to stay awesome to watch or we have nothing on Brawl. YL vs Puff is not Melee, Mango is Melee.

Sure he was extremely disappointed to lose to Armada, but not because he's worse, because he wanted to win by styling the **** out of the guy. And he almost did. I think it was the best outcome the tournament could have had. Armada finally takes something, legitimately, and Mango proves he's light years ahead of everyone else.

Don't misinterpret, he didn't sandbag, he just played how he wanted to play. i think, idk mango

i know is troell post, i just luv talking about mango

Mango's fox was not influenced by dark. he's been playing like that since 2008.

2nd at Genesis 2 with little practice (comparative to his opponents), playing the style he likes, winning crews, etc.

Yeah he's not really that good. I'm sure you just need a defensive, punishment-centered style like M2K or Hungrybox and you'll definitely trounce him easily. It's not like he ***** players like that or anything; he definitely got lucky at this one.

this thread is a joke mango is amazing. That being said i dont understand the people here saying he could of beaten armada is he wanted to play differently. Armada is also amazing and possibly the best in the world. Both Mango and Armada are just too good and right around the same level of skill saying one could beat the other if they played differently is just johns. I believe that they are very evenly matched and there games could always go ether way

Mango shows that you can win in Melee by being aggressive. I think that's the most important thing. No matter what character he chooses, he's always keeping the pressure on and he's able to win.

If Mango went puff on Armada he would have won. Anyone can see that. Saying that is kind of like johning, but it kind of isn't, because Mango would never ruin a major GF like that against another legitimate player.

Anyone can say "I would have won if I camped you and played safe", but no one's really gonna do that except Hungrybox, see what i'm saying? Mango can beat Armada whenever he pleases if he really wants to sacrifice the fun of the sets, but Armada can't do that in return, and that's the difference between them. Armada doesn't have a pocket puff, he just has a pocket YL, which I doubt could beat Mango's puff (it's smarter than Hbox's).

So mango didn't win, while still being the best, at the same time.

I don't feel Armada is the best right now simply because of the "2 tournament" rule. I don't expect anyone else to hold the "2 tournament" rule with any weight but... it's just a little thing I have.

I didn't believe Mango to be the best until he won RoM. Pound 3 wasn't enough to undo Mew2King's on-off domination of 2007; I wanted to see Mango beat everyone twice before I was going to consider him the best player. The fact that the sets from Pound 3 were sort of close also made me reluctant to crown him champion after one good run.

The same roughly applies to Armada. If he does it again, he's the best. But right now I just figure they're really close.

yea thats a john. there is no way in knowing if mango's puff can beat armada's ylink. also i read somewhere (it was in a thread or on youtube video dont remember and i am not sure how true it is) that mango's puff is not up to nuff right now. Also as everyone know mango said he was going to try this tourney and he lost dont john for him he does not need it. As i said before they r both amazing I just dont believe mango is the best without a doubt. I believe he and Armada r about equal with imo armada having a slight edge.

Also not sure were to put this but as far as i know historically Armada is the first European to win a US national and as fair as I know the first peach to win a US national. Anyone know if this is correct.

It would be super cool if people stopped trying to figure out "who da bestest" and spent that time improving themselves. :troll:

that would devalue the efforts of players who spent time improving themselves to get people to argue that they're the bestest.
