Okay, bear with me here. The idea of Magikarp has been dancing (or rather, splashing) around in my head for two days now, and I just had to get it out.
How Magikarp could work is by simply splashing in place while standing, then splashing to its destination when moving around. It crouches by laying itself flat along the ground and sneaks (it's been shown that characters can move while crouching, and this is what I'm calling it due to Snake) by dragging itself along the ground.
It can jump by smacking its tail on the ground, then double-jump by wagging its tail, seeming to swim upwards.
Its basic attacks consist of tail attacks and tackles, and it can hold items and enemies in its mouth, like Pikachu.
Specials: (these are all moves it can learn in the game, except for its ability)
B: Tackle- a basic thrust of its body forward
<B>: Swift Swim- Swims around charging through enemies, much like Withdraw(Squirtle), Egg Roll(Yoshi), and Wario Chopper(guess who).
B^: Splash- Magikarp's signature attack. it brings its head and tail up, allowing you to tilt the control stick in the direction you want it to go, then slaps them down and travels in that direction. True to the game, this move does absolutely no damage.
Bv: Flail- Similar to DK's Bv, Magikarp flails around in place. Also true to the game, this move does more damage the higher your damage meter is.
Final Smash: Evolution- Again true to the game, the most worthwhile thing Magikarp can do- evolve into Gyarados! Magikarp splashes to the back of the stage, then jumps off. a large flash is seen, and Gyarados appears! It fires a powerful Dragon Rage to wards the stage, and you can direct where the beam is aimed. When it's done, it flies away and a Magikarp randomly jumps up to the stage for you to control.
Fun Stuff:
Taunt: Jumps slightly, wiggles, and shouts, "MAAAAAAAAA-GIKARP!"
Crowd Cheer: Ma! Gi! Karp! Ma! Gi! Karp!
Colors:
Normal(Red Team)
Blue(Blue Team-turns into a purple Gyarados)
Green(Green Team- turns into a green Gyarados)
Gold(Shiny!-turns into ared Gyarados)
Victory: Splashes around (I can't think of anything else)
Why he stands a chance:
When Goldeen comes out of its pokeball, it uses splash. You'd think they'd use Magikarp for that, wouldn't you? But, they didn't.
Secondly, it's known by almost anyone who knows about pokemon. I know it's because it's completely useless, but still, give him credit.
Lastly, first-gen pokemon seem to be abundant in this game. This does give Magikarp a slightly higher chance. Keyword being slightly.
So, tell me what you think. This'll probably go over as well as the idea for the Pokemon Trainer, but look what happened there. (prepares flame shield)
Oh, P.S.: MAGIKARP FOR BRAWL!
