Before I do that though, Swamp Sensei , is it permissible to allow praline to be the new owner of the OP of this thread? This question is predominantly to tie up any loose ends that the boys in black may have prior to working their magic.

so your game (this is directed at shish) would have to be third and i don't think we'd have three games in july

I expect you're thinking of Mario Party 2 Mafia, where Ryker vigged EE on the first page of the game, despite the fact that EE was innocent child.

Bad Idea Mafia is actually pretty fun though.

I would really like to help balance some setups and try to give some pointers to NZoners going into hosting the game. Having role madness is not the issue, it's just that the roles that are chosen sometimes do not co-align with a balanced product. Look at any Overswarm game: The dude was really good at keeping things balanced despite everyone having some important role. if NZoners do not want to play more vanilla setups, that's fine, but at the least coming to understand how to make Role madness setups more enjoyable for everyone would be beneficial.

My own philosophy when it comes to balance is that no role should completely trump another, there should always be a form of a counter to any existing role. As an example, if a town has an Investigative he shouldn't be allowed to roam free during the night, therefore the Mafia should have some form of roleblocking/stopping power to mitigate that, or perhaps even an investigative their own. I'd say that balancing vanilla setups are honestly harder than role madness because you need to focus the game on one/two PRs who may cause some very strong sway dependent on how they are played. Sometimes PRs are absolutely worthless in vanilla setups because of this, and other times they make or break the game.
