I'll sympathize for Chrom supporters.

But Chrom himself will get no sympathy from me.

If you frequent SmashBoards, you have probably seen this somewhere, but I am posting it here, anyway.

I imagine people will stop bashing her once all the hype wears down a bit. People don't hate Falco, and there even are some clamoring for Roy's return! I'm confident she'll be able to set herself apart enough to win her own fanbase. There may be only subtle differences so far, but they're enough to create a new playstyle. And hopefully she'll be able to shine in custom moves and her final smash!

So Fire Emblem is rather notorious about having an inconsistent cast. Do you think Lucina will make it in Smash 5?

A good chance she will star in her own game, since there are now two Lucinas running around and one just mysteriously disappeared. I am sure a lot of Awakening fans would want a game that focuses on the children characters, and Chrom can serve more as a guardian/advisory figure instead of a protagonist.

That's actually exactly what I want to happen.

Though, as I mentioned before, the game would star the present time Lucina instead of the dark future one (the one we care about)
Again, she's a lot more carefree and mischievous as a result of hanging around Lissa.

Chrom has a beard. He must have a beard.

Amnesiac Emmeryn could be the next antagonist, and it will be Lucina who will have to put her down for good.

Please no. Either use the Lucina we know, or have her somehow develop to be nearly the same. I don't want another Trunks fiasco, where everyone loved the Future version and then the present version gets written into the story via a time skip and ends up just being an unlikeable annoyance.

Unlockable I think because Marth features on the game cover so should be accessible from the start (and from the top of my head I think most clones either have the original or a clone as an unlockable)

I agree. The Majin Buu saga would have been tons better without kid Trunks, as well as Goten. They were so annoying.

Future Trunks, on other hand, was kinda badass.

I don't see it happening to be the case that the next game stars the original Lucina, unless they added a third tier again. Present Lucina could potentially learn of future Lucina and try to become more like her older self, though. Perhaps that could even turn out to be an interesting character development; she tries to emulate herself from another timeline and it doesn't turn out the way it should.

That said, future Lucina became the way she did because of her father's death and Robin's betrayal/possession by Grima. The only logical way I can see past Lucina becoming similar to he older self is if she heard stories of how she, from the future, came back to the past to save the world, and she wants to try and emulate how another version of herself turned out, and I can only see that going downhill as well.

It will be very interesting to see how this whole thing potentially plays out...

Maybe they're both starters with Ike being the locked character. Roy's probably a locked character. Marth can't be unlockable since he's on the cover. Lucina's an easier Marth so it'd be weird for her to be locked (considering she's like the practice version of Marth)

You make a good point but to me that'd be kinda strange, I think it makes more sense if Lucina is just one of the first characters to be unlocked, that way you get her after very minimal playtime (which in all honesty would probably make more people play her initially than if she was a starter, if you get me)

I think all clones will be unlockable as well as third-parties and Luigi. Its also possible some characters are starters only one one version, but unlockable on others, such as Ike being unlockable on 3DS and Robin on Wii U, but Marth is definitely a starter now, he's on the cover.

Lucina is practically guaranteed to be unlockable.

I'm pretty sure Marth being a starter is set in stone (even though it's technically not). I'd think it's safe to assume that the starting amiibo lineup consists only of starter characters.

Am I the only one who thinks that she will be starter? Sakurai said she was "Marth for beginners".

Quite far fetched, but I personally imagine this kind of character to be starter.

I just wanted to say that I'm so HAPPY about the new FE reps. After playing the hell out of Awakening I REALLY wanted both Lucina and Robin and didn't like the idea of another blue haired male lord.

Robin reps FE perfectly by having a unique moveset with tomes, and Lucina was arguably one of the best written characters in Awakening and is female! In a cast full of great female characters, it was pretty bad that smash hasn't had one from FE till now. Her being a clone makes sense, and lbr Chrom wouldn't have bought much to the table either. I'm also positive that Lucina will still have more differences from Marth then what is currently known. All in all their reveal trailers increased my hype by 10,000 %!

I want them to add a Mass Effect style save transfer thing that acknowledges that I had Robin bonk Lucina, paired Morgan with Yarne, Chrom with Olivia, etc.

No, no, not like Kid Trunks ( they do have the same VA though).

I mean, it wouldn't make sense for Lucina to so dour and serious if she didn't live in the apocalypse.

Kid Trunks was just that, a kid. Ideally the time skip would be so that she is the age as future Lucina.

I was planning on maining Little Mac until Lucina was announced. I enjoyed her in Awakening. Also, with the apparent nerfs to Marth it will be interesting to see what attributes she has/inherits from past Marth iterations.

She could go either way, but there will probably be a large number of unrevealed unlockables. Its just bad business to reveal the entire unlockable roster before the game even comes out.

I think Fire Emblem will work like this:

Starter
Robin
Lucina

Unlockable
Marth
Ike

but I could see Marth and Lucina swapped.

They could make a situation that builds to her having a serious personality, like maybe some War across Akainea, or something. Personally, I feel making her childish without having an serious nature would just ruin her character like Trunks. Sure, the future and present Lucina will turn out different due to experiences, but I wouldn't say as drastic as that. Personally, I feel she would be different by not having guilt of her father's death on her shoulders, good enough.

That's what I meant.

She's not irresponsible. She's just not emotionally tortured either.
It would be unrealistIc for her to have the same personality as Future Lucina.

Even as a believe of the Gematsu leak, I still can't fathom why I didn't support Lucina before. She is such a cutie!

Also, I do approve of a game starring Lucina. <3

Never been a big Marth fan, but I try to give all characters in each game their own chance to impress me. To be honest though, I don't have high expectations for Marth-in-a-skirt. We'll see when the game is out though.

I didn't think that she would be included in Smash, although I hoped so anyways, and here she is as a playable character! Without a doubt, I will main her. My hype levels skyrocketed when she was chromfirmed confirmed. (Although I'm still a little sad Chrom isn't a character ;p)
