:4lucina: is probably going to be my most reliant secondary character of mine just like how :marthmelee: functions for me in Melee or how :roypm: functions as one of many secondary characters I rely on in Project M.
This post is a lie.

After seeing more of :4lucina: I am so maining her DAY ONE along with :4fox: and :4tlink: and it will be awesome!!!

:4lucina: is better than :marthmelee: and :marth: in my eyes, because I don't have to worry about tippers, but instead focus on just landing moves at the right time like my Melee main :foxmelee:. That is just the way I wanted it for Marth, but I never got it. Now that it's real, BUSINESS IS ABOUT TO PICK UP!!!

I've been theorcrafting that idea for years, thinking it was a stupid dead end, and here it is, years later, REALLY IN MY HANDS!!! BOW DOWN MORTALS, JOHNKNIGHT1'S :4lucina: IS YOUR NEW GOD NOW!!! :demon:

It seems her animations are slightly different from Marth's, so that's nice. Also is that attack with the red sword trail her Neutral Special? 'Cause it seems quite different from Marth's at a more functional level at least, I could be immensely wrong though.

You are not getting this straight it seems. There is nothing indicating Chrom was ever considered to be in the game.
I'm glad Lucina was added instead of Chrom, He would've had either Marth or Ike's moveset anyways.

Dude, after seeing that pose with her hand on her hip, I'm now 100% sure I'm going to be using her. For some reason I find it sexy. Not sure why.

Mains as of now (In order):
Palutena
Robin
Lucina/Pikachu
Ike

She does have slightly different animations, all i want now is her battle stance instead of Marth's.

Since I'm a Roy main, it's definitely a possibility. What I like about playing Roy in Project: M is his in-your-face, high-pressure offensive game. Since Lucina is fast and her blade is balanced, all she needs is decent KO power to be what I'm looking for. I want to try the other newcomers first (like Rosalina), but if they don't work out, I will probably main Lucina.

I hope she's more of a semi clone along the likes of Toon Link and Lucas than a direct clone. Ness and Toon Link are two of my mains, and I can tell you there are a lot of differences only someone who plays those characters can notice. Marth's a secondary for me, so I'm excited to give Lucina a shot and see if she works better for me than Marth does!
Agreed. I don't even play them and I can see how all those small changes make Toon Link and Link very different (and some bigger changes such as some moves being completely different, like fair).

And then there's Ness and Lucas, who I think are barely even semi-clones. Pretty much all their A attacks are different and unique. Their specials are similar but... many characters have similar specials with others. Like Ganondorf and Capt Falcon are still pretty close (semi-clones I'd say due to Side B being different and different fair and utilt and jab), but Lucas and Ness? Pretty much unique characters. I mean if you really look at it, Samus and Link can be considered semi-clones if Lucas and Ness are. Both Link and Samus have Up Bs with multiple hits that spin, both have a charged projectile with B, Side B is a homing projectile, down B is an explosive move, both have Zair and ranged grabs. Lucas and Ness's shared similarities in the visuals of their B specials cause people to overlook how different they actually are I think.

Awesome, very useful reference :D And yeah I did notice from the page for Lucina that her moves did look different than what i remember of Marth's. Thanks for the convenient reference!

Also that shield breaker thing, that was the stab she used in her trailer right? :D

So it does look like she'll be a semi-clone and not a clone! YAY!

About her forward smash: Her stance isn't as stretched out as Marth's... does this mean it'll have less range? o.o her knee is bending inwards instead of sprawling out like Marth.

Finally they made a Marth clone with no real sweetspots (tipper nor center). Plus Lucina just looks great.

Definitely thinking of maining her in Smash 4, regardless of whether she sucks or not.

Okay yeah I'm really bad with Brawl Marth. Just got my butt handed to me by a level 9 cpu Olimar. I think I have some work to do before Smash 4 comes out so I can own eeryone with Lucina.

Yeah, it looks like she'll be a semi-clone, we have yet to see more attacks though, and i can't really tell if her forward smash will have less range, but i doubt it.

Haha, this is me as well. To be fair, Olimar in general is incredibly frustrating to play against. I always play poorly against him because I get irritated and just button mash. :p

He feels much slower than I thought, I always remembered him as being a pretty fast character. Haven't played him in a looong time.
Also, I really struggle to connect with dancing blade which is killing my damage output, and I haven't found a reliable finisher outside of side-smash. I think I'll mess around in training some and look up some moves/combos. But yeah, hopefully Lucina's a bit faster like we've speculated.

Lucina's animations are definitely different in those pictures. They look really good. :awesome: Whether or not they actually affect her power, hitboxes, etc. is unclear though.

Perhaps sense her animation is much more centered her F Smash will have much more damage to it? Thats just how I thought about it.

Also guys, Final Smash predictions?

It really looks like it will effect her hitboxes from those animations AND from her sword mechanic which I am really digging.

I see no reason why she wouldn't have Critical Hit, boring as it may be. (I still think it's a cool FS.)

I mean Toon Link and Sheik still have the same ones from Brawl as of the demo, so...

Ya I guess, I was thinking something like "Luna and Sol" Final Smash

My Final Smash prediction:

Lucina's FS will be like Marth's but instead of just living the sword to the air she performs the awakening. her hair is flying. her sword glows and the color of the screen changes. it's sparkling everywhere.:040:

*posting this image for the 999th time*

and then she hits her opponent like marth.

I'd like her Final Smash to involve some of the other future kids, like Mega Man's. That'd be amazing!

for when smash bros was announce then my hopes for her died
but then out no where my hopes retruned from the dead with full force
just like lucina said in awakeing “Hope will never die”
and with her in it does give hope that other chraracters we tought would be gone
will come back thank you lucina

I tried watching some Marth vids from E3 in slow mo, and actually it doesn't look like he F Smash is any different from Marth's. Marth's F smash is different from the one in Brawl, he now has that same weird leg positioning that Lucinia has.

On the other hand, what that comparision doesn't mention is that there is a slight difference in the first attack of their dancing blade(not sure about the other hits). Marth leads foreword with his whole chest and his non-sword holding arm comes down with his sword arm, whereas Lucina leads with her shoulder and her non sword hand is still up even when her sword is down.

Really crappy screemcaps by me:

Smash attack

Dancing blade

Or you could get a better look at it yourself by examining this video-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qW3-7bdn5as
(Sword dance at 1:30, several smash attacks but the one I cropped was at 1:37, and it has the best view)

But yea, she's got small changes in animation that you really have to be looking for to notice. (except the counter. That one's fairly obvious).

Being a lighter, faster character, maybe her moves are slightly faster/short as well? This might actually sound probable, being able to make more combos than marth. Juggling would be in her favor by a lot if this was the case.

It's good to see that Lucina will seemingly be getting her own little perks that differ from Marth's. But to be honest, I would still play her even if she was a complete Marth clone. xD

I certainly would too! She speaks English when the game is set to English. Marth is just too confused!

@ Kamikazek Kamikazek , you've just spotted the two things Marth has in his animations that are blatantly there to balance out his range.
Unlike MK's animations, Marth's dancing blade, down tilt and other things extend hurtboxes forward beyond the sword right before the hitbox comes out (it's his opposing arm mostly) which easily get's him swiped in plays and also makes things like down tilt/dancing blade shield pressure very easy to **** up.

I ALWAYS approve of Lucina.

Well, unless it's ecchi. Then I disapprove. :grrr:
