For the future, always refer to the Video Archive to check this sort of thing.

I literally just posted his set from Smash Con the other day, lol.

Sonic ditto grand finals?

I bet the people loved that.

:093:
We actually played other characters for the first set in Grands- Ike vs Mewtwo, Mario vs Link, he played a bit of Luigi/Mega Man... it was rather interesting. And not at all campy, even in the ditto (though I do kinda suck at the ditto, lol)

Craftis is fun to play against in the ditto.

13th... Again.

Lost to the guy who won Nebulous last week, Zorai, and then lost to Numbers because he was sent to Loser's early, surprisingly. I can never beat Numbers.

I used to take him to game 3 but this time I couldn't. I feel like I've gotten better but...

Round one I played this really good Pac-Main who I played earlier that day in Friendlies. Bummer that I had to send him to Loser's so early, but he ran it back so far that he ultimately tied with me. I played BlueTerror... Again... Won the ditto and then he switched to Mii Gunner. I have no clue what that character is so I have to study it. I won just by abusing his awful Up-B. Bair'd it like 7 times until he died.

After getting sent to Loser's from Zorai (Sheik main), I played Wes who I also beat in the ditto. He switched to Mega Man and I timed him out without realizing it until I saw there was like 45 seconds left and he was at like 170% and I was at 70%... Just couldn't close out the stock and I didn't want to risk eating a rage Utilt or something. We take those, I guess.

Then Numbers. He makes Wii Fit look obnoxious. I don't get it. I always underestimate her Ftilt and I die really early from it. Plus I get hit like 3 times and suddenly I realize I'm at 60%. He's so good with this character, man.

NY/NJ is rough. I know it's making me better, but I'm still not pushing hard enough I guess.

After getting sent to losers I pretty much made a clean sweep to Grand Finals. Though Beating Marss still is a ways away. Missed a lot of opportunities to end the last two games in with a victory to potentially reset but they at least weren't matches where I got completely outplayed.

I have a lot more results than this to post which I'll get around t doing at some point bit figured I'd start here with the most recent tourney I've been to.

Waited to post because smash.gg finally updated their site to include standings.

Made it out of pools in Winners. Lost to Zorai again... He's gotten so much better. He even eliminated John Numbers, who I tied with.

Played this really good Mario named Owsla. Beat me first round and I was able to run it back for the set, but very close. He had beaten Zee earlier so I knew I couldn't sleep on him.

I almost forsook this game though because Sonic didn't kill from the other side of the stage with Fsmash when Mario was at 120%... Then he didn't die from a midscreen Bair... So I closed out the set with a Uthrow at 170%... This is starting to become a little too common. I was eliminated by this new Greninja player, Venia, who apparently took 5th the week before. His combo game was absurd and by the time I adapted to his playstyle I couldn't clutch it out. I'll be more prepared for it next time.

Regardless, I played really well that day. Despite whatever tournament nerves, I felt the most relaxed and comfortable playing that I have in a long time and finally broke past 13th.

Mildly salty because I lost to the same people I did at SKTAR. James beat me and took 1st for the whole tournament, then I lost to RJ again... We're 2-2 for sets now. Yoshi vs. Sonic is just such a dumb match-up for everyone involved.

Really happy with how I played. It's crazy how consistently being top 8/13 in NY locals translates to being a dominating force in other regions...

In singles, I only lost to my doubles partner, so we can thank bracket collusion for that placement. Ah well. My teammate and I went to last game last stock every time because of our playstyles and the way the match-up goes. We just know each other too well and it's sort of like a flip of the coin because we poured our hearts into it and anyone could've taken it at any time. I just happened to lose twice.

Still felt amazing winning doubles with him though. We've been friends since 1st grade playing Smash so this was just a really awesome moment for us.

I hope you guys appreciate how clever our team name is.

It was cool reconnecting with my old scene as well as meeting new faces in it. I also met DisqoBunny finally but we had to face in bracket... Really close games. No Sonic dittos though, haha. I don't think he's about that life.

Those sets were streamed, as well as others, so I'll be sure to share those.

Definitely plan on returning.

I faced Owsla again. He went Wario this time, but I still took it. Always stressful.

2-0'd Dire, but lost to Jtails and Frozen. I always lose to Jtails... He's really intelligent in the match-up.

Frozen came back after a huge hiatus in Smash 4 and his Rosalina & Luma is on point.

The match will be online, so feedback would be much appreciated on what I could do better.

Happy with my play lately though. Really feel like I'm making strides.

Took 4th again...

NJ came to play this time, and of course I only lost to them... They were both in Grands. Worst part is I beat Biddy 2-0 earlier in the bracket then lost 3-1 in Losers... I swear I always lose that way. I had really great sets with them and a bunch of sets were recorded, so I can't wait to share those. My set with Avalon, the guy who won, was insanely close but I could just never manage to take the round.

Didn't win doubles this time because my partner couldn't make it, but hey, 2nd is pretty great for an impromptu team.

Nothing strange for Smashua- the sets were very close, in both Winner's Finals and Grand Finals, but Craftis takes the ditto again. I'm happy with my performance, though.

GUMs 4 was my very first regional, and I'm very happy with my placement there. I could talk more about it, but I'll just say that I'm happy to be placing well at the events I'm able to go to so I can rep New Hampshire. :awesome:

Had a lot of fun in this one. Tested HSD and it was.. alright (although I did knock out the best player around here to losers AND from losers). Went with vanilla Sonic in GFs though.

I feel like Surprise Attack is ****. Gonna try Stomp next time.

Lost to Sheik in winners. Same one that I lost to at the previous Youngstown event. Decided to play Sonic the way I probably should play him all the time.. Dropped no games after. It's like going against my nature, but when I play less aggro, the result is normally better. I hope to eventually get to a point where I can consistently force aggro play against high level players and not just mid-low level players. Dunno if that's really possible, but only time will tell.

Was really happy with my performance in my last tournaments. Been able to fit in a lot more offline practice with others between monthlies which has notably helped a lot.

Leaving to Japan tonight and entering a tournament over there on Sunday too, so I'm pretty hyped right now :D

Pretty happy that I wasn't exposed because a BUNCH of upsets happened (we're even dubbing it the Ultimate Fraud Smash/Sposition lols) in this huge tourney (started as a big event but ended up being the biggest EVER for a fighting game - yeah, even counting SF and such.. sponsored by Capcpom themselves!). I could definitely use some work on my jitters. I played awfully bad in the TOP16 bracket. Actually, I only won with LM after getting to the TOP16 bracket ffs. Got to use a freaking counter instead of a dsmash to punish due to my trembling fingers! Geez.

Lack of sleep and TO johns. Ughhh. I'm definitely going to step up my game next year.

Special thanks to @Ixisnaugus for watching me on stream! hahah

Hi guys, I have gone to 4 tournaments mostly with 100-200 people in SoCal and usually lose first going 0-2, but recently I went to a small local near my hometown over break and got 4th out 22. First time, ever winning a set in singles and finished with a 5-2 record. I got double eliminated by the same Fox.

In order of what happened I beat a Cloud 2-1, another Sonic 2-0, lost to the guys Fox 0-2, beat a Mario who switched to Falcon 2-0, A Falco who was pretty good 2-1, and a ROB 2-0, before losing to the Fox again 0-2. I feel like I have huge issues with ROB losing to two ROBs in a row at the last tourney, but through reading on here and watching good players VODs I was able to improve. Thanks for being a positive community and willing to help new comers. Your video Camalange helped me learn how to spin shot and that is just ever so useful. So thanks Sonicboards and Happy New Year to you all!

This was the most stacked one yet. A lot of upsets and interesting attendance. Jband from Texas was in NJ for the holiday and decided to check it out... And won. Angel was sent to losers early by a Cloud and then eliminated by my crewmate, Lawz, as well as a bunch of other crazy things. I got to play Atomsk in singles and won, though he took game 2 from me which was really close. I ultimately got double eliminated by Biddy which is kind of infuriating since I came so painfully close. In Winners, it went to game 3 and I lost to a Dair spike from Toon Link... In Losers, game 5 it was a last hit situation and he just managed to land the kill. Great guy, player, and friend, but I can't help but be a little salty when the games were so close and I only lost to the same person the entire day. I still played well though, and he did a great job, so I can't be too mad.

After that first loss though, I played a Falcon afterword and he killed me with a grab release > Dair at 40 when I had him past 100%. Not gonna lie, something in me snapped because I was being robbed of games from obnoxious spikes, and I played so insane the next two rounds and double 2-stocked him. I somehow used my anger effectively and just played out of my mind. Like, straight savage. Felt good.

Also, I can't tell you how good it felt when two different people tried to counterpick me with Mario + Battlefield. So free.

We also won the crew event against 2 NJ teams and the Philly crew. Felt really good, though I felt I played a little sloppy, I clutched through when it mattered as the anchor last set. Proud of my crew and how far we've come.
Your video Camalange helped me learn how to spin shot and that is just ever so useful. So thanks Sonicboards and Happy New Year to you all!

Didn't do bad in Doubles considering I've never teamed with C3PO before. He was just recently recruited for my crew, and my original Doubles partner was late, so we did it on the fly and had fun with it. Took out Atomsk/Avalon but lost to False/Nakat (pretty badly) and Sinji/Jtails.

Oddly, I placed well in Singles despite feeling like I played rather poorly through most of the bracket. In pools I was a little sloppy to start, and then lost 2-1 to a Yoshi named Suarez who sounded vaguely familiar but wasn't seeded. He ended up taking out Keitaro too, so I guess it's not just my despise for the match-up and my belief that Yoshi has the advantage. After losing to the Yoshi I was really angry and combined with just bad tech skill on my part I almost lost to a Link. I've played Khaki's Rosalina before but he recently dropped her for him. I couldn't believe it because at one point I died to a sourspot dash attack at 60%. I actually couldn't believe it. I saw my career flashing before my eyes.

I eventually got my act together and took round 3 convincingly and played fine the rest of the pool. I beat Keitaro 2-0 and advanced to top 32 where I beat Shippo, Gunblade, and then was eliminated by Jtails in a very close set. Still can't seem to beat him. Twice in one day even. Much respect though.

I'm happy with my placing, but it was kind of an uncomfortable tournament since lately my mindset and play has been the most clear and consistent it has been in my life, and I almost threw it away and let my emotions get the best of me. Still though, the placing speaks for itself.

I finally got to meet Kels which was nice! Spent a lot of time hanging out with people and all-in-all I had a really fun time.

This local was a bit bigger then the last one. The three people who placed above me last time didn't show up, but someone from the NorCal PR did, 3xA. He didn't drop a set and was a pretty clutch Toon Link player who made very few mistakes. Got to play a lot of friendlies against him which was great.

I lost my first match to a Captain Falcon, I played really nervous and he read me hard. I got 2-0'd by SDing in the 2nd game. But I refocused in loser's 2-0 ing my doubles partners Wario. Then I 2-0'd the guy who knocked him into loser's a DuckHunt/Game & Watch. Then I 2-0'd two Megamans in a row. The second Megaman was a significantly better then the first, but I read him really hard, catching him trying to snatch the ledge with F-smash.

Finally, I played the Captain Falcon again in round 5 of losers, I lost the first game and really started to tilt. The MU gives me some issues. I ended up calming down and reading his laggy options for some punishes. The last game came down to a really tough last hit situation. I was behind for most of it, but I won with a back throw.

In loser's Round 6, I was on stream and I played a Donkey Kong. I got 2-0'd. The first game was very close. I just made a stupid mistake at the end and died to DK's bthrow. The second game, I got KO'd first but brought it back, instantly tying up the percent. Then I jumped off stage to combo with an Upair or something stupid and I got bellow him getting Dair spiked.

Anyway, I'm proud of my performance just as good as last time if not a bit better. I just wish I didn't throw the first match because of nerves.

Going to try to be more active here this year. Kinda don't like the fact that the sonic boards don't know me so I wanted to change that.

2nd - Phoenix :4sonic:

Only lost to Falln, I really hate the Rosalina match-up.
