But Nintendo doesn't really have many (if any) wrestlers.
they only need one. and he would be a retro rep! Star Man from the NES game Pro Wrestling is pretty iconic for video game wrestling fans, along with the Amazon.

Didn't Sakurai say at one point, "Assist Trophies and Poke Balls are for characters that fans wanted in, but we couldn't make them work." But, the Villager who was supposed to be in Brawl was added in SSB4. Little Mac was an Assist Trophy, (unfortunately). THERE IS STILL HOPE.

Until then, I'm gonna play Super Smash Bros. Crusade. Little Mac is gonna be in it.

They could share the stage. I know that wrestling rings have three ropes but the best wrestlers can fight anywhere.
And look, Star Man and Little Mac are friends!

LMAO
Why don't I find these things earlier?

This also solves the mistery to why Starman is more popular than Fighter Hayabusa, the real main character from Pro Wrestling.
To me either one will do for a Pro-Wrestling rep.

BTW What songs do you guys think will make it to the Punch Out stage?

Here's my prediction:

Minor
Major
World
(Fight &) Training (I would bet only on Training, but I couldn't find a good stand-alone training cover)
Punch Out Medley
Boxer Medley (This would mishmash songs from all (or most) different boxers, from Glass Joe to Mr.Sandman)
Super Punch Out Medley (Minor, Major, World, and Special Circuit from SPO)
Pro Wrestling
Teleroboxer

I DEMAND ALL 13 RENDITIONS FROM PUNCH OUT WII.
In Brawl, Most series had 12 songs in total.
So...The original theme, with the menu and what not is one song. 11 remixes. Not King Hippo's though because it was rather unimpressive. And we could take out either Bald Bull or Great Tiger, because they sounded rather similar.

I think

I think he means American Football.
Yeah, I know he did, it was just too tempting not to post that :).

If he did say that then it's BS. I refuse to believe that he could get the likes of Captain Falcon and R.O.B. to work but not the likes of Little Mac and Isaac. Assist Trophies being for characters who Sakurai perceives as not quite big enough to be playable at the time makes more sense. I can forgive Sakurai for thinking Little Mac wasn't big enough to be in Brawl, I disagree with him, but since a lot of major characters were added in Brawl I can understand his opinion. If he thinks Mac isn't big enough to be in SSB4 then he's just totally wrong and idiotic.

Off-topic, but I don't think Villager was ever supposed to be in Brawl, Sakurai seemingly ruled him out at the time saying an Animal Crossing character would be out of place in a 'violent' game like SSB (or something along those lines). He later seemed to do a U-turn saying that the Villager could work in SSB, this epiphany of his probably being the reason we have the Villager now.

The only problem would be the awkward sizing of Mac.

The only problem would be the awkward sizing of Mac.

Awkward sizing? He's not anywhere near awkward in the Wii version! Besides, no "awkward sizing" could ever match the "expected horror" that followed supporting Olimar pre-Brawl. There's no way!

Besides, the only reason he was really "Little" Mac in the NES version was 1. To be a reference to the McDonalds Big Mac, and 2. Because he couldn't be transparent with the NES graphical capabilities, so he had to be much smaller than his competitors. This problem obviously didn't exist in the Wii version.

Gah, wish they'd just go ahead and reveal him already. I just played through PO:Wii and my Mac-cravings are through the roof.

Who from Punch-Out would you like to see as an Assist Trophy?
King Hippo, or Soda Popinski. One of those dudes. As for what they'd do, I'm not sure, but they could easily reprise Mac's AT role in Brawl, with their own flavor of course.

I'm still hoping Doc will be a part of Mac's character.

But Mac is more deserving of the spot IMO
Were you implying Mac would be a retro rep here? That's just not the case anymore.

And here's the thing folks: The reason Mac was an AT in Brawl was because Pit was chosen as a retro rep and Sakurai didn't want to oversaturate. That, coupled with the fact that Mac wasn't as big back then as he is today. Also, once again, because of the reboot, Punch-Out!! is about as retro as Kid Icarus.

And don't MAKE me bring up the Punch-Out stage.

I feel like he should be as tall as Mario, but that'd feel unproportional I think.

Ah right, fair enough. I know Sakurai dismissed him for Brawl because of concerns of a peaceful character like the Villager being in a 'violent' game, but I didn't know he actually considered him at some point.

I'm sure how this is a problem, he looks perfectly fine in Brawl as an AT. Since Brawl Little Mac's height has been retconned from 4' 8" to 5' 7", a pretty normal height, so really he should be around the same size as most of the human fighters.

This one right here. Mac's not really so "Little" anymore.

He's still little compared to boxers like King Hippo and Holy-sweet-jeebus Super GIANT Macho Man, but he's pretty normal. Just slightly shorter than the ref, iirc.

For my dream Mac that has Doc in the background cheering him on, I've got a specific set in mind.

Neutral B- Dizzy Punch (Builds Stars)
Side-B - Rushing Jab
Up-B - Star Uppercut (Has more power based on stars. Launches Mac into the air.)
Down-B - Time-Out (Doc moves up to Mac and massages his shoulders, healing him. He also says Doc things.)

As for an FS...Sakurai will have better ideas than I will here.

In terms of height, I want him to be the same height as his AT in Brawl, though you won't exactly find me complaining if he's taller.

That has to be Bald Bull for me. I can picture it now - Bald Bull appears and prepares to charge like a bull would with his face getting redder and redder and steam shooting out of his nostrils, and then charges in a straight line across the stages instantly K.O.ing anyone in his path.

Who would you compare him to in terms of height?
Mario probably. Both characters are short as in a little below average male height, but not abnormally short.

I think there should be an assist trophy that summons ALL of the other 13 boxers and they all rush out Excitebiker style, doing signature attacks. Too OP?

Items from Punch-Out!!.
Aran Ryan's Rope Glove-Swing it around. It's full of horseshoes.
Glass Joe's Headgear-Reduces head damage.
King Hippo's Manhole Cover. Blocks gut shots.
Great Tiger's Turban. Creates a harmless yet realistic clone of you.
Don Flamenco's Toupee. When it get's knocked off your head, you get faster and stronger.
Bear Hugger's Hat: Has a squirrel in it. When you throw it at someone, it delays their attacks. Or you can throw it straight up and let it land on you so you can wear it yourself. Delay attacks to ake out enemies.
Soda Popinski's Soda. Makes you temporarily stronger. And heals.

I have two in mind.

Super Macho Man
> The whole stage goes dark, and a single spotlight focuses on Super Macho Man right in the center of the stage.
If anyone comes close to the spotlight, Super Macho Man will spin punch them away.

Aran Ryan
> He'll act kinda like Little Mac's assist trophy at first, but then he'll start swinging a rope with a glove in it, causing damage to people around him.
If he gets hit by a character, he'll go ballistic. He'll jump off the stage, and then break the 4th wall by cursing at the players/audience, while blocking the view (like Nintendogs)

Argue away friend.

Also I think Boxing Gloves should be an item. It'll have 1 of 14 Random Effects.

With all of these you punch when you press A. Forward A becomes a quick punch. Forward Smash becomes powerful punch. (Unless otherwise stated)

Little Mac's: Causes opponent's to taunt when hit.
Glass Joe's: Being hit by an enemy will cause you to drop croissants that can heal. VERY slight chance of tripping when active.
Von Kaiser's: Your Forward Smash becomes a slow but incredibly powerful punch following a fancy spin.
Disco Kid's: Your A combo becomes a very quick and potent 3 jab combo. Being hit with a Smash Attack causes you to spin rapidly, dealing combo damage, but also stunning you when it's done. You become slightly more prone to automatic taunting.
King Hippo's: You punch slowly, but has great power. Also get a slight size increase.
Piston Honda's: Your A combo becomes a rapid punch combo (similar to Kirby's). You also get a speed boost.
Bear Hugger's: A=Giant slow but powerful Bear Hug, dodge rolling will not stop this attack nor sidestepping, and it breaks shield. Must duck to dodge.
Great Tiger's: Your A combo becomes a random mix of 3 random punches. Forward Smash cannot be charged, but will teleport you instantly to the side with a powerful punch following it.
Don Flamenco's: Attack speed increases, enemies grow flower upon hit.
Aran Ryan's: If standing still, you will automatically dodge and sidestep most attacks. Jump height increased.
Soda Popinski's: Your A, Side Tilt, and Side Smash become a powerful uppercut, a strong hook, and a potent sidestep followed by a punch, respectively. For every ten percent of damage you have when you don them, you get one attack. For example. 167% damage begets sixteen uses of the gloves before they expire. Attacks deal increased damage. Eating food temporarily further increases damage and knockback.
Bald Bull's: Holding down A will cause you to rotate your fists, releasing causes an attack. You can therefore psych enemies out with delayed attacks. The same delayment options goes for your new Side Tilt, the Bull Rush, a quick dash followed by a powerful punch.
Super Macho Man's: A lets you spin and clothesline once. Rapidly tapping it lets you continue spinning. Side Smash Becomes 3 Powerful Spin Punches.
Mr. Sandman's: Attacks make enemies fall asleep.

I don't think they are competing against each other. Star Man is a retro rep while Little Mac is a current guy. Pro Wrestlers don't compete with Boxers.

Teleroboxer
Star Man and the Amazon are the only two characters really effective in the game, so they are much more popular. Fighter Hayabusa's kick is too hard to hit. Star Man gets a leg up with wrestling fans because he's a luchador, which connects him more to the actual profession than the Amazon, who is a flat out half monster.
Here's a chart I found explaining the character selection process for the game:

[/collapse]

For the music, I would also add the Career Mode Menu Theme.
Super Punch Out!! Player Down and Opponent Down
That's a nice pro wrestling remix.
